THE BIG "FRENCH KAI DVD PACK 2" OVERVIEW
(This second part is very much in line with the first one, so I will mostly comment on differences and show pictures of the new elements only.
This results in a much shorter overview.
For more detailled information, please read the overview for the first pack on page 1).

PACKAGE

This time, no "Kame Hame Ha stance Goku" on the front cover, but... Cell in his perfect form! This is a striking surprise, since one would have expected more coherence between the choices of front covers for the different parts: either have base Goku on the first one and Super Saiyan Goku on the second one, Goku on the first one and Gohan on the second one, or Freezer on the first one and Cell on the second one.
But that's the way it is: the first pack shows the hero while the second one suddenly shows the bad guy of the arc.
The back cover feels more coherent with the previous one: while the first package showed Goku versus Vegeta, the second one shows Super Saiyan Goku versus Cell.
The choice here is to show Goku's ultimate fight for a specific arc (the first part reunited the Saiyans arc and the Freezer arc, so they could only choose one: they chose Goku VS Vegeta, but I would have thought that Goku VS Freezer was a more logical, since the fight against Freezer can be seen as the result of all events since the Saiyans arrival, it feels more like "Goku's final fight for the pack of episodes included").
The top side of the package still features a synopsis, without particular presentation, just black writings on a completely white background. It states:
"One year after the last events, King Cold has successfully reconstructed his son, Freezer, who was left for dead
on planet Namek. While Goku still hasn't come back to Earth, his friends can feel the presence of a familiar
energy: the worst of their enemies is back! But just as he arrives, Freezer is easily destroyed by a stranger suddenly appearing
from nowhere. The mysterious young man, who can turn into a Super Saiyan, even seems to know about the future..."
The bottom of the package is exactly the same except for a few things in the info box. It shows the bar code, a copyright line written in English, the "Only for sale" message and the logos for Toei Animation, ABGroup and DVD.
The info box is also the same, but the text was adapted to match the set of episodes included in this package:
"EPISODES 55 TO 98 / LENGTH: 18h20 approximately
French Version + Subtitled original version / PAL COLORS / ZONE 2 / 8 "DVD 9"
SCREEN RATIO 1.78 / 16/9 WIDESCREEN / STEREO SOUND"

This time, instead of Namek Krilin, you can see Super Saiyan Trunks with the appearance he has against 2nd form Cell.
You can see "EPISODES 55 TO 98" written, the series logo and "Vol. 2" indicated.
One of the side (the one actually belonging to the external package) also specifies "Cyborgs Saga & Cell Saga", as well as "8 DVD".

The front cover of the book shows "Super Vegeta" beating the crap out of 2nd form Cell.
The starting "inner cover" of the book is Trunks cutting Freezer in halves.
The ending "inner cover" is actually pasted to the last page containing the last DVD, so there's obviously no picture for it.
The back cover for the book showcases C-16, C-17 and C-18 in fighting stance.
There is no booklet of any kind included.
The disc numbers don't restart to zero: this package is considered a direct continuation of the first one (which contained 9 DVDs), so the first disc is labelled as the number 10 and it goes on. Names of arcs also appear on the disc.
DVD 10 - Trunks (Super Saiyan, same render as the "cutting Freezer" one) - Ep. 55 to 60 ("Cyborgs Saga")
DVD 11 - Piccolo (with his cape) - Ep. 61 to 66 ("Cyborgs Saga")
DVD 12 - Cell (1st form) - Ep. 67 to 72 ("Cyborgs Saga & Cell Saga")
DVD 13 - C-16 - Ep. 73 to 78 ("Cell Saga")
DVD 14 - Vegeta (Super Saiyan) - Ep. 79 to 83 ("Cell Saga")
DVD 15 - Goku (Super Saiyan) - Ep. 84 to 88 ("Cell Saga")
DVD 16 - Gohan (Super Saiyan 2) - Ep. 89 to 93 ("Cell Saga")
DVD 17 - Goku and Gohan (Father-Son Kame Hame Ha) - Ep. 94 to 98 ("Cell Saga")

CONTENT
This package, in presentation, organization, making and everything, is a direct continuation of the first one.All information given in the first overview on page 1 still applies to this second package (menus, chapter systems, visual master, translations...).
The new dub is still a million miles away from the crappy one we had back then, caring about respecting the scenario and having actors giving their best to be in-character, and the subtitles are still awesome with a pleasant choice of vocab.
A new voice has been given to Cell since the original voice actor passed away. Like Krilin and Kaio's new voices, I like the new voice a lot more than the original one, but not everybody will agree with that, since when people are used to something, they'll often give a harsh welcome to the new change.
There are a few translation mistakes in the dub, but they are quite rare. However, the most noteworthy are:
- Cell will say to Piccolo that he will be completed only in 24 hours instead of saying he will be completed only in 24 years.
- While surpassing the Super Saiyan is sometimes translated accurately, some other times the characters will simply talk about "becoming a Super Saiyan", such as Goku growing impatient because Vegeta still hasn't come out of the Room of Spirit and Time and thinking "Come on, he probably has become a Super Saiyan by now". Well yeah, he has become a Super Saiyan for a little while, Goku...
There is also one translation mistake that caught me by surprise with the subtitles:
- When everybody heads for Freezer's landing place, Krilin re-thinks about his death. Instead of saying he remembers the tyrant's power quite well since his body felt quite a good taste of it, he says "But I can't wait to have a more direct taste of his power"... like feeling Freezer's terrifying power from space is something, but he's more impatient to be facing him directly and see more of this awesome power!! Krilin, stop pretending you're one of those Saiyans who loves facing a terrifying opponent, that's just not you!

Sounds like I have to go to the store
About Kuririn's voice, the first one was excellent and the va's a much better actor than the actor of this Kuririn. It's simply horrendous. They could've found a much better Cell, too.

While the packaging looks cheap also makes me wish the FUNimation Dragon Box Z packaging had been like this so each disc would have had its own plastic space (than one above the other).
CS, can you scan these two designs below?

If possible, thanks!

Sorry, I could not come up with a better quality for them, but here you go (Sony Music is in charge of distributing Dragon Ball Kai... I thought Sony Music would be in charge of distributing... music?).
