DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Wow, "canon" color Kaio is a little seizure-inducing. Orange, blue, and green mixed in there.

Ah wow. I guess it could be both and he just changes his outfit(if that is the case then I wish they would have had green Gohan)? Hopefully someone who owns the volumes will answer.
Yeah, those Kanzenban colors remind me of Korean tankōbon covers.B wrote:Wow, "canon" color Kaio is a little seizure-inducing. Orange, blue, and green mixed in there.

It's more likely some one edited that first image and changed Kaio's colors to the Kanzenban version (considering I got that from some random forums it's very likely).Makaioshin wrote:Ah wow. Oh right, never checked the online previews for the physical volumes, only for the digital.Makaioshin wrote:Like I said they are like that in the online previewsfor the second volume.omegalucas wrote:It's more likely some one edited that first image and changed Kaio's colors to the Kanzenban version (considering I got that from some random forums it's very likely).Makaioshin wrote:Ah wow. Then, please, can anybody who owns the volumes give us some light on this?

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Thanks a lot. I guess Kanzenban colored Kaio was used for visual purposes in promotional material just like Super Saiyan Gohan haha. Though I wonder if the digital edition could be different. I can't imagine it would be...
Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Well, this is all weird.
Both are official, then. Seeing the photos of actual pages, I would have guessed the one using the first "Kanzenban Kaio" was some fan recoloring then, but no, it's in the official preview.
The one actually printed is the second "Kanzenban Kaio", the one who looks like the anime but has two different line colors on the edge of his clothes (although they are reversed to look like the first "Kanzenban Kaio").
This is weird, we already know that there can be several color versions, since Shenron's appearance in chapter 1 had yellow eyes in the digital Pilaf arc, but red eyes in the chapter 1 of the actual full digital release.
But this was a tiny modification, it must take only a few seconds recoloring eyes for only one panel.
But recoloring Kaio here... what could be the official reason to do it? Maybe with the previews, they want to make a point showing "see? We are not bound to the anime color-wise, you could discover it all like never before", to the point of actually lying about the actual content... Or the previews are from an earlier version and Kaio was corrected before the final file was sent for printing...
This is strange.

So, Full Color Freeza arc will be released in April. Does anyone not expect the Cell and Boo arcs to be released as well? I'd think they would be released each month, but it seems there's no news yet.

Well, they said they would do it, so at least we know we'll end up having it.alakazam^ wrote:So, Full Color Freeza arc will be released in April. Does anyone not expect the Cell and Boo arcs to be released as well? I'd think they would be released each month, but it seems there's no news yet.
I think I remember - but I might be wrong - that the Freezer volumes will not be released all at once but one volume each month, so...
My bet is that they'll start revealing it and promoting it when the Freezer arc reaches its end, with only one Freezer volume left to be released for example.
I hope Cell will have his blue articulatons, but if he has his purple ones, it's no big deal either. But I would prefer the blue ones, it's a detail, but it improves his charisma for me.

The Freeza arc volumes are all scheduled to be released on the same day(4/4) just like the Saiyan arc was. Maybe the project website will updated with information on the Cell arc after the fourth. I wonder how well these are selling.Cold Skin wrote: Well, they said they would do it, so at least we know we'll end up having it.

It'd be cool if a good English release was getting put out at such a fast pace. I feel like I'm missing out on something wonderful.

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Just noticed this when comparing manga and anime. Is it me or a lot of times the anime staff invert the images when drawing the anime?
There are a lot of scenes that are almost like they have been traced over the manga except they are mirrored.
Just check these from the comparison between the full color release and the anime (comics) on Kanzenshuu's main page (There's a website, too!?
) :

@omegalucas
The TV series staff always used the original comic as reference material. Especially for fight scenes because of just how well Toriyama choreographs his scenes. I think the best example would come from (I think) when Gohan escapes the pod and the ensuing exchange.
This is why things like the "Ani-manga" are so redundantly-redundant.

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
I am aware of that. My point is that a lot of these end up mirrored (as in what's facing the left gets facing the right and the opposite - just look at Piccolo and Raditz on my previous post) for some reason (probably just because). I just wanted to see some opinions on this...AgitoZ wrote:@omegalucas

I've noticed the same, it's really common. Don't know why, though.

Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
I think that it's because manga reads right to left and so mangaka tend to draw things to guide your eye in that direction, where TV "reads" a bit more left to right (because it is a single, horizontal "panel" and even though Japanese reads from R to L when written vertically, even it is read L to R when written horizontally).
Re: DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!
Oh, I had misunderstood, this is good news, I'm glad I was wrong about that! We'll be able to see examples of the flame-aura Super Saiyan pretty soon then!Makaioshin wrote:The Freeza arc volumes are all scheduled to be released on the same day(4/4) just like the Saiyan arc was.
