Re: Project Versus J (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
Yeah, I wouldn't consider this as part of whatever larger plan Namco-Bandai has for just the Dragon Ball franchise. Let's not forget all of these came out in a four-month window of each other back in 2006 (which, granted, was approaching the peak before things fell into the shitter):

I’m guessing it’s either going to be Naruto (new hotness) or Jotaro Kujo (old new hotness). I’m drawing a blank on a more relevant current Jump protagonist than Naruto (though my heart wants Ichigo Kurosaki!).

I only want Naruto in this as well. I don't care about any other series, just Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Battle Stadium D.O.T? Yes please.
Even though I don't really care about Toriko (I'd rather have Kid Naruto instead) it's still okay as long as it's fun to play.

Yeah, the more I'm thinking about it, if the countdown is to a character reveal, it's gonna be from Jojo. That series has had a major marketing push in the last couple months thanks to its new game and anime series. And then there's the fact it's been a pretty big year for the three series we're already aware of.

Ichigo from Bleach? I hear that Namco Bandai does not own the video game rights of Bleach. I think Bleach is likely not going to happen at this point.Saiyan Prince Vegeta wrote:Yeah! I'd love have Ichigo in this game.

It could happen, sometimes companies get rights to use single characters. Like Snake in SSBB, he isn't owned by Nintendo but they still got to use him.Hellspawn28 wrote:Ichigo from Bleach? Re: Project Versus J (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
Unless there is some kind of rights issue, I'd be surprised if Bleach isn't in it to some degree. It's still fairly popular, even if it has fallen a bit, so I'd be surprised if it doesn't show up in the game.
As far as I know, we don't know if the game will have a support character system like the previous DS games did, right? Because if it does, I would love it if I"s got represented again, and the only way that can happen is with support characters. If not it, then at least Video Girl Ai or Zetman (Weekly Young Jump is still the same owners as Weekly Shonen Jump, right?) or something. Gimme somethin' Katsura here guys!
Oh, and Rurouni Kenshin too. Kenshin needs more love.

Re: Project Versus J (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
I'm hoping this will also be released on the next-gen consoles.
As for example, it seems that STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN is coming to Xbox 720 and PS4. I guess Capcom isn't risking to put it on a console which isn't being profitable currently, and neither does it have support from third party developers.. Wii U.
Btw, I bought three brand new factory sealed copies of STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN for Xbox 360 just for £9.06 that was really cheap. I guess luck's on my side.

Yes, they are, but I wouldn't hold my breath for crossovers outside of Weekly Shounen Jump.Gyt Kaliba wrote:(Weekly Young Jump is still the same owners as Weekly Shonen Jump, right?)
I don't see it happening, but I'll be pretty disappointed if this is, as a user above deemed it, "Battle Stadium D.O.T." They've really held out on what exactly is going on with this game.

Well, Yugi managed to appear in Jump Ultimate Stars even though the rights of Yu-Gi-Oh! videogames belong to Konami.Hellspawn28 wrote:Ichigo from Bleach? The only character that I think that won't appear at all is Dai from Dragon Quest, since Square Enix owns the franchise.
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

You're not the only one set on Ichigo.B wrote:I’m guessing it’s either going to be Naruto (new hotness) or Jotaro Kujo (old new hotness). I’m drawing a blank on a more relevant current Jump protagonist than Naruto (though my heart wants Ichigo Kurosaki!).
Ichigo being confirmed is me buying the game confirmed. I hope there's no rights issues, especially because those with the video game rights can't be assed to produce a decent Bleach fighter on the PS3... or just a PS3 Bleach fighter at all!

Re: Project Versus J (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
I think you're confused. Street Fighter X Tekken was a failure on every platform it was released on (hence, you picking it up for less than £10) so I doubt Capcom's going to release it again any time soon. That's throwing money at something people have shown they don't want. I imagine you mean Tekken X Street Fighter, which was teased for next gen consoles (no definitive platforms listing given) by the company who is actually making it, Bandai Namco. I'm not being ass, those are actually two very different games.dbboxkaifan wrote:I'm hoping this will also be released on the next-gen consoles.

The reasoning for going next gen on that project makes sense. From what we've heard, there has been very little work done on Tekken X Street Fighter, as the team has just shipped Tekken Tag Tournament 2 a few months ago, and are assisting Nintendo on the next Super Smash Brothers. By the time the game would likely be ready we're probably somewhere in late 2014, or even 2015, which would be time when the PS4/720 pick up major steam as interest in their predecessors should be done. It makes sense for Bandai Namco to target that game for next gen consoles, especially when you consider the fact that the retail hardcore fighting game market is pretty saturated on PS3/360 at this point.
Coincidently, Bandai Namco is also the publisher (potentially the developer as well) for Project Versus J. Bandai Namco isn't a company that abandons platforms quickly, especially in regards to anime/manga based games. They're still releasing PSP games in 2013. It makes sense to continue supporting PS3. You have the ability to easily port the game to Vita since they're in a similar ball park of power. In Japan PS3 has a user base over 10 million, and unless Sony pulls off a miracle, it'll be years before the PS4 hits that. Project Versus J will be out this year. They could port the game to PS4 in addition to releasing the PS3/Vita versions, but I can see Bandai Namco thinking that the early adopters of a PS4 are likely to be the people who already own a PS3/Vita, and if they release Project Versus J before the PS4 launch, they'll be safe.
Bleach is dead. The time of it headlining its' own game are over. For what it's worth, you'd have to bug Sony for a Bleach fighter on PS3, as they own the rights to the series on their platforms. SEGA owns the rights to bleach games on Nintendo platforms.Saiga wrote:Ichigo being confirmed is me buying the game confirmed. "I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Re: Project Versus J (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
Ah right, Tekken X Street Fighter, slight title difference.
Anyway, I'm hoping they'll make the multiplayer mode solid so that it'll be a fun 2v2 match.
