Kyle is good as Gohan, but he doesn't have a narrator's voice, at least not one in keeping with the tone of Dragon Ball, but I welcome his return as Gohan. By the way, he's does voice overs for Kevin Smith's SModcast Network.

I wouldn't even mind if it were 91 episodes, as long as we get a dub that's on par with the rest of the Funi dub of Kai. It would be awesome if all the voice actors were able to reprise their roles.

First off, YES! Confirmation we're getting the Boo arc is a VERY good sign!

Now, Sabat has been known to flub details on episode lists and designations before. Before we got FUNimation's "Season 4" of One Piece announced, which starts at episode 206, Sabat flubbed and when asked said they were working on that material when they weren't, he just had the episode numbers mixed up. Tho, I can't remember his exact wording, but when other members of FUNi staff were asked, they said Sabat must have had "some bad sushi" because what he said was wrong. So, until we get a press release stating that it's 66 episodes, lets take that part with a little grain of salt.

That being said, if we DO end up getting 66... I'm not sure I'd be bad with that. To be honest, I actually hope they keep most/all of the Saiyaman filler. It was cute and fun and I actually enjoyed it. Also, since the Anoyoichi Budōkai was included in their final bit at the end of Kai, they might end up keeping it too to pad things out a little bit. Which I'm actually ok with. Filler ARCS are infinitely better than Filler in-episode for me. If I don't want to watch it, I can skip it, but in-episode filler is INGRAINED in it making the canon material drag.. So if we end up keeping those, it would be 10 whole episodes. That would mean 56 Episodes made out of 85 which is a better ratio. The average Ratio of old Kai was 1.7 Z episodes for every Kai episode. This would be 1.5 Z per every Kai which is not much worse. If they do nothing, and just straight up cut down the full arc then the average ratio is 1.3:1 which is still not much different.

One thing people need to remember. This is achieved by editing the material that's present, and if some of the filler is too heavily ingrained into the episodes to be able to easily split and edit, they'll be forced to keep some of it. That's why we got Gregory and the Bulma-Ginyu stuff before. Those bits were to heavily integrated into the canon material to effectively remove without breaking continuity. The Boo arc may have elements where this is worse, thus necessitating it.

There's also the possibility, however unlikely, that they're adding in material... like, if we get the Kanzenban ending I'll swoon...
Not to mention the amazing new FUNi-Dub!

I hope it matches the earlier part of Kai's acting as later the English cast seemed to lose enthusiasm. I also really hope J. Michael Tatum takes full control of script writing as his translations and script were better then what came on later.

I didn't notice any difference in the quality of performance throughout any part of the dub. The script, yeah, that was noticeable. I think After J. Michael Tatum it was Patrick Seitz doing a majority of the Android/Cell arc episodes. Not sure though, he at least did the Trunks vs. Freeza era ones.

DISAGREE, DISAGREE.

It boggles my mind how many people here are okay with Kid Trunks and Goten's voices. It isn't even the acting that bothers me the most (though it does bother me), it's that the voices just sound horrible and unnatural to me, I can't stand them. REALLY crossing my fingers and hoping that they get replaced, along with the others that ABED mentioned (Fat Buu is pretty unbearable.) Actually, I'd recast even more than that. I'd recast Videl if I had a say in it (with better acting, the original VA might be okay, but I'd still prefer someone with a softer voice.)
Duo wrote:All I need is Kyle Hebert back as Gohan and I'm good to go.
As long as his acting significantly improves, I'd be okay with this, as his actual voice is great for Gohan.

Anyway, add me to the list of people hoping that 66 is an inaccurate number. Way too many episodes.

I don't want Super Boo to be recast. I love the pure rage, goofiness, and smart alek behviour Justin Cook brought out in Z. He was one of the only good Z actors. I also have gotten used to Goten and Trunks's voices, so I can't say if it would bother me if they were changed. Fat Boo definitely needs a change. Try to get someone to add the creepyness the Japanese version had at times.

Second!
Fat Boo is probably the worst. Like, if they recast just him but leave the rest alone, I'll be very happy. His voice was like, nails on a chalkboard bad.

Babidi was awesome tho, get that guy back and buy him an ice cream while you're at it.

Watch the TTGL dub, he's Kamina and he did a really good job. Most everyone can be counted on to be a far better actor than they were 15 years ago. I mean, in the original Season 3 recordings, Schemmel is outright horrid and how he does a perfectly respectable job in Kai.

I don't know, it still could be true. It's in FUNimation's interest to deny it. They'd rather properly announce it themselves.

Yeah, the above. Sure, maybe the Sabat bits are false, but we know the Buu arc is happening on the Japanese side, and the entire reason they're doing it is for the itnernational market. Company denies everything until it's true.

Yeah, like how they called the original Dragon Ball Season One listing "a mistake".

If they're gonna come out and clarify this, what about DBZ: The Original Broadcast?

I think I'm more disappointed that we don't have confirmation that the footage is complete and FUNi are starting a dub that I am relieved that it might not be 66 episodes. I wouldn't care that much if they left in the story filler, as long as the fighting was less tedious.

Kai seems to be getting slower as it goes on anyway. The Saiyan arc had 2.1 Z episodes per Kai episode, the Freeza arc had 1.9, the Garlic Jr arc wasn't included, the Cell arc had 1.75 and the Buu arc appears that it will have 1.4 or 1.5, depending on whether they start with the Next World Tournament or not.

Definitely not a lie. I was the one in the audience who asked him about Kai & that was his reply. I even gave you his exact wording. The panel was filmed & Oz Comic Con always release DVDs of their conventions, but by the time it comes out Kai may already be released...

Audience members were not allowed to film, though I've been checking YouTube to see if someone did sneakily do so. It looks like they didn't.

Look guys, I've never lied on these forums before & I'm not doing it now. I really don't have any reason to & I don't get why others do it. I asked the question, got the answer & thought you may all like to know. Unless someone else who was at that panel in Adelaide can come on here & confirm it, or until Oz Comic Con release the DVD of their convention I don't suppose anyone is going to believe me. At least I know proof is out there & when that DVD is released IF it's before the Buu Kai DVDs (or even after if Chris was wrong) you'll all be able to see it for yourselves when it inevitably hits YouTube.

If there's two English FUNimation voice actors I liked of the Buu arc, it would be Ultimate Gohan and super Buu, the vocals were so suitable and enjoyable to listen to. Hope they stick with them.
I'm with you on that. I follow Kyle on Facebook and chat with him a bit, and I've gotten the strong impression we'll be hearing him again. He's the only voice from the entire dub cast's run that I have an attachment to.
