I don't know if it's a dub inconsistency but in the broly movie Piccolo said he can hear pretty much everything in the universe.
Also Piccolo could listen to Trunks and Goku's Conversation.
What's the deal with his ears? how well can he hear?

Obviously pretty good, but I do believe there are instances of characters talking with Piccolo in the vicinity and he can't hear them. I can't really think of a specific moment off-hand. Didn't Trunks and Goten mention about saving SSJ3 (didn't mention it specifically) before fusing, though? Piccolo should have heard that and thought the boys had an ace in their hole. There's other moments like this with Piccolo around, if I'm not mistaken.

The Movie 8 statement is dub-only. But Namekians in general can hear conversations from very long distances (like he did with Goku & Trunks).
