Active duty military here (Air Force). Believe it or not, I have yet to meet a single person here around my age who didn't at least watch "DBZ" on Cartoon Network and have fond memories of it. Sure a lot of the really older people don't, and now some of the younger guys didn't, but I think it's pretty safe to say almost an entire generation likes DBZ.

Even back in High School I'm struggling to remember anyone who didn't like Dragonball Z... it wasn't like Power Rangers or Pokemon where the "cool kids" called it gay or whatever.. seems like nerd and jock alike both liked DBZ for various reasons. Goku brings people together both on and off screen, pretty cool actually.

Of course I'm the only one I know who posts on the Internet and discusses DBZ or has read the manga and stuff... so yeah in that sense, it's true. The others are mostly casual fans... and its funny because the most common thing I hear them talk about in regards to DBZ is gross exaggerations of how many times Goku died in the series. "Yeah man Goku died 8 times.. twice in Dragonball, then like 6 more times in DBZ, oh and like 4 or 5 times more in DBGT but that doesn't count GT is gay." A funny thing about myself though is that I never speak up and correct them or point things out like "actually that's a dub-only line from the US Anime release." I sorta just go with the flow and feel satisfied that there are fellow fans among me. It was kinda cool because people got excited when I told them about Battle of Gods.

I definitely am, but my friends are all very familiar with it. At the very worst, one of them has only ever seen the Abridged Series.

I suggest changing the title. Comes off arrogant when the topic at hand isn't.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I think that's deliberate.

Anyway, I might not actually be the biggest Dragon Ball fan out of my circle of friends. One of my friends is pretty into the series as well, and has far more merchandise than I do, even had a Dragon Ball birthday cake for his latest birthday.

Even so, I'd be more knowledgeable about Dragon Ball than him, at least.

So would saying he's more passionate about the series, possibly, then you are, whereas you are more knowledgeable about the series, be a good way to put it? Because I was actually thinking earlier that while the two concepts usually go hand in hand, it would be possible to have two different definitions to decide who is a 'bigger' fan by.

Yeah, and he also likes anything Dragon Ball, while I'm a bit picky. So for him to be more passionate works.

This is practically the only place I talk dragonball since I know no one who likes it.

I'm definitely the biggest Dragon Ball fan in my circle of friends, though my knowledge pales in comparison to most of the members here. On my cross country/track teams in college, a lot of my teammates were into DBZ, or at least had fond memories of it, so whenever it came up in conversation, I was the resident expert and I tended to settle any debates if need be.

Probably only a little more than my best friend, but I'm the only one who has the complete show on dvd.

Yep, pretty much.

Seriously though, I'm pretty much the only one in my group of friends that's still into DBZ. Most of my friends either don't care about DBZ, or they've watched the show back in the day but have never re-visited it. There are two exceptions to that though... I have one good friend who has only read the manga from Viz and played a couple of the PS2 games, never watched the anime. He's the only one of my friends interested in the new movie. My other best friend used to be really into Dragon Ball during the Toonami days, but now pretty much can't stand it due to me "playing all of the shitty DBZ games."
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I still know a few people who actively like DB, one in particular who is almooost as big of a fan as me. But by and large I am the biggest fan. Like others have said when I engage in conversation I often want to correct them on things, but hey... I'm guilty of that too. I'm not all-knowing but I would say I know more then most fans. Usually I'm just happy to see more fans out there. It does feel like an entire generation genuinely likes it, at the very least, on a casual basis.

One thing that I find funny is that my best friend who got me into dragon ball now no longer cares much for it and couldn't even remember some character names. Kind of a bummer

I think I know about Dragon Ball more then any of my friends. Some of my friends still like it while my other friends grew out of it.

I love landing in those situations. It used to happen a lot more for me (8 years ago) when I was the guy in High School who had a bunch of the Manga.

I think this is how Goku must feel when he comes across a powerful enemy, or how Vegeta feels about Goku towards the later arcs. I imagine if anyone else read a conversation we had via text they wouldn't know that the fuck we were talking about. I mean, how many other people can you honestly get a genuine opinion from on a subject as fine as SSj Vegeta vs. Cell (post-#17 absorption)? Haha
Of all things, I'd say it resembles Goku and Paikuhan the most. Do filler characters count? They never had a fight to the death, after all.

In my group of friends I may have two who like the series but I think they're not THAT much into it...
Then again my cousins are getting pretty close, though the little one is a bit more familiar with the American dub terms (thanks to the PS2 games). Still really proud of them both. :D

Out of my friends I'm the Ultimate Dragonball Fan, i even try to get some people who use to be fans back into the Series i love the original DUB (Ocean Dub to Funimation)(mostly because i hate subs because of my dyslexia, i like to watch the action more than reading line after line of subtitles.) I also house nearly 50 Wall Scrolls, several figures, and 3 sets of Dragonballs plus various Lanyards and Key-chains (just to name a few things.) I have not read the comics/Manga because i get neck pains and sadly I'm not a fan who thinks of Dragon Ball GT to be cannon (I'm one of those fans that wanted to see more Dragonball after Dragon Ball Z ended.)

Gotta love Goku's pep talks
