Exactly. Count me among them. No offense.. and I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if I feel like I was forced to watch it for free due to an unreasonable wait, I'm likely to never pay for it when it does come out. Heh, just kidding. I'll probably just import the Japanese Blue Ray anyway.kei17 wrote:If they really make the fans in the U.S. wait this long, I'm sure they'll lose a big commercial opportunity due to their piracy. Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
I'm sure as fuck not waiting 2 years to see it. The day the 2008 Jump special was released, I acquired a version for myself. Once the PtEtSS and EoB specials came out, I got ahold of those as soon as I could as well. Don't worry, I have been and will continue to support the official domestic releases when I can, but I don't personally see too much harm in acquiring a fansubbed copy of something you are were already planning to buy on it's Day 1 of release anyway.
I'll be seeing BoG as soon as I can, however I can, and of course, purchasing the US release whenever that happens.

Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
Considering that Fox is an idiotcompany Republican outfit and they failed dramatically on Dragonball: Evolution, I have a feeling they'll do something stupid like snatch onto those rights, and bury it.. and NEVER let Battle of Gods see the light of day in the US. calling it now.. no official dub or official release. We'll be shunned from the Dragonball community.. much to our anguish.

They dropped the ball big time. This should have been a worldwide release. I'm buying the Blu Ray if they bother to release it but I'm sure as hell not waiting to see it, hell I won't wait a single month.
Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
I always had a hunch the conservative right was to blame for Dragon Ball Evolution. I'm also interested in this pizza time stance anime distribution has taken. Less than 2 years or it's free huh?
Slight ribbing aside, sooner the better for me. But I feel I can wait... until the Japanese BD comes out.

Will the blu rays from Japan work here in the US though?
Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
I'm fairly sure both Japan and the States are region A.

Well 2 years is not a very long time when you look at it. The recent Evangelion movies did fine in the US despite them already on the web before Funimation license them.kei17 wrote:If they really make the fans in the U.S. wait this long, I'm sure they'll lose a big commercial opportunity due to their piracy. Do you have a choice there? Unless you're gonna watch a shitty camrip. A decent fansub ripped from the Blu-ray is probably going to take six months.Zombie wrote:I'm sure as hell not waiting to see it, hell I won't wait a single month.
I think we are blowing "OMG 2 YEARZ" out of proportion. FUNimation just said FOX has first dibs, what would they know about the movie's actual release in the U.S.?

At this time a camrip is better than nothing. They seriously screwed up.
Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
So what your saying, once you've found the elusive shaky camera bootleg with no subtitles, you'll have no need to ever look at a domestic release? Okay, that makes sense. I get you.

Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
Is there a chance that the movie is released in another country before the US?
Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
This. Many whom are aware of this movie are going to piss around and wait for an official release, especially when it is entirely possible for some kind of access to be provided for the international market. They showed us they could do this with the Jump 2008 Special, why not charge a few bucks and do the same thing?kei17 wrote:If they really make the fans in the U.S. wait this long, I'm sure they'll lose a big commercial opportunity due to their piracy. I'll just import it when it becomes available on Blu-ray/DVD in Japan.

No offense, but I'm amazed by the lengths people will go to justify copyright theft in their own minds. It's JUST a movie.FindKenshi wrote:Exactly. Count me among them. And guys, do we have to get political?
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
If they can find others who cost less and are just as good or better than FUNimation's cast they'd probably do. It would be interesting to hear other English voices in this dub than FUNi/Ocean.Hellspawn28 wrote:Funimation license is set to end next year. If we don't hear anything about them renewing the series then Fox might have dub the movie themselves with the Funi voice cast.
I don't expect there to be a Canadian dub, but who knows. Better leave the French dub to the Frenchies.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
Well, on one hand, if people do chose to break the law at least they'll be exposed to the actual movie for a few years, rather than a dub of it.

Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
I'm shocked by the amount of people just completely going 'Well I have a right to this movie so I'm going to watch it another way no matter what, nyeh!'. I get that times are different now, and that you (and myself as well) really wish it was coming sooner, but really? A two year wait if it comes to that isn't going to kill any of us. Sheesh, we were further behind than that back when the show was first being brought over here.

Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
People need to have more patience. 2015 is not that long of away and we have other stuff to keep us busy. As I mention before, each of the recent Evangelion films took two years for it come out in the US and it was worth it.

Re: Funimation comments on Battle of Gods' status
It's not that long of a wait, unless the English dub is the only version of Dragonball that you enjoy, and if that's the case, it sucks to be you, haha. A fan-subbed bootleg cam recording will probably show up in the next couple of weeks, and then I would guess by the fall we will have a fan-subbed DVD/BR rip...or maybe TOEI will include English subs on their BR/dvd release, that would be amazing if they did.
