Isn't he playable in the Japanese version of DBZ 2. Or is he just a costume.
He's a bonus costume in the special/limited edition of the game, DBZ V2.

I used to believe that SSJ10 existed.

You weren't the only one.

I don't know how the absurdity of the art didn't tip me off to it being fake.

I believed that there was no Super Saiyan 4, and that what Goku and Vegeta became in DBGT was officially called "Super Goku 4" and "Super Vegeta 4" in Japan. I blame the Super 5 fansubs for this belief.

Back in 1997 when Final Bout was released on the PS1, I thought Gotenks really was a hidden character, and to unlock him I beat the game 9 times in a row with Trunks, on hard, without taking a single hit. I was disappointed, but man was I amazing with Trunks after that, haha. None of my friends could beat me.

I was part of Super 5 and worked on those lol.

We sourced the video from Cantonese dubbed VCDs, which at the time had the best video quality available for GT, we ripped Japanese audio and transcribed the subtitles from VHS fansubs, synced the Japanese audio to the Cantonese VCDs, timed the subs, encoded to DivX, and then shared the videos via FTP servers hosted on our personal internet connections....and we did all that for free. :P

Well, to be fair, he simply is a new Buu in a sense.

Not a rumor for me, but a misconception, During the 17 vs. Cell fight, when he is absorbed, we see Trunks and Vegeta exiting the ROSAT not long after.
Mind you I was very new with Dragonball, and those episodes were the first I watched (in Spanish, to add, which I din't grasp that well at the time).
I believed that Trunks and 17 were the same guy.
I believed that when he "died" (was absorbed, but I didn't get that at the time), he was reincarnated to come back and kick Cell's ass (and stronger to boot, probably due to his calm manner at the time).
Of course I didn't know either that 17 was a villain.
So I believed that there was no death in Dragonball (not that untrue, really), and that every hero got reincarnated.

There was some dude that tried to sell me and my brother to the AF rumor, but we didn't bite.

A bit off topic here, but back in the day, I REALLY loved these fansubs. I downloaded all I could find from Kazaa, and still have all of my favorite episodes on the computer to this day. Gotta love the intro before Dan Dan starts playing. I would like to thank you and the other members of Super5 for the effort and dedication.

You guys had some pretty weird subtitles at times though... And there are a few places where they completely drop out. What's with Trunks calling Goku 'uncle'?

Goku's father Bardock being alive and coming to Earth to fight Goku (for whatever cool reason involving them smashing their heads to ground and doing angels in the rocky walls after).

You're welcome :) We didn't actually translate the episodes ourselves, we transcribed the subtitles from VHS fansubs, and I haven't watched GT in a very long time, so I'm not sure about Trunks calling Goku "uncle". If he says ojisan in Japanese, that's uncle.

Always was my favorite part of the old site, though, even said so on the (unofficial) podcast once.

I'm not exactly sure if that would be awesome.

Do we want someone with such poor memory handling a site meant to be the source of accurate Dragon Ball info? :P

Or it could alternatively be a parallel world where Toriyama never forgets.

If not VegettoEX, then The Tori-Bot would be a close second.

Back in the day, I was one of those gullible teenagers who believed that AF was real. Even if it was just for a brief moment.

For someone who's supposedly Akira Toriyama, my Japanese sure is terrible.

The answer is obviously that they were Akira Toriyama. But to truly escape his fate of making more Dragon Ball, Toriyama had to split himself in two, just like 'the Namek who has forgotten his name' did to become Kami and Piccolo Daimao. Thus Toriyama became VegettoEX and SaiyaJedi, and only the SaiyaJedi side got the Japanese skills. The only question is which one is the good side, and which one is the incarnation of evil...hmm.

:P

My bad attempt at a joke aside, I like a lot of other people once believed AF was a thing. What makes this even more embarrassingly bad though is that the plot description I saw for it was even worse than AF story ideas usually are, so I cringe thinking back to when I even momentarily thought this was a real thing.

Not really a 'rumor', but I did also believe a friend that told me that the Majin Boo stuff was also about Dr. Gero attempting revenge, and that Boo was simply yet another creation by the doctor after both the Androids and Cell failed.
