With their track record of piss poor games, I'm not gonna get my hopes up. If it's good then hallelujah but until then I am very skeptical.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
I think they need to make another story mode similar to Budokai 3 again. Sparking 2 and Ultimate Blast try to do that and they both failed. The one thing that I liked about Budokai 3's story mode is that they would have you lead up to a new fight that never happen like Gohan vs. Kid Buu or Goku vs. Broli during the Buu saga. Budokai 3 was going to give us a story mode for every character which would have been prefect if the game was fully finish. I think a story mode for 100+ characters should not be that hard if they can be creative.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that game. See that game was fun because it was creative on the story and not the same thing I truly enjoyed that. Honestly would be a reason for me to get a psp again but that is my point for them to try something similar to that.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:They did a follow up future story for Trunks in Shin Budokai 2(PSP) if you are interested. Similar being the keyword, because that game's plot is the definition of a horribly cliche clusterfuck of ideas. If they're going to do it, they need to actually put some effort into making it at least partially well written.THEGOKU wrote:but that is my point for them to try something similar to that.
Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
What if stories could be good, but most of the time they are really, really terrible. There is some potential for interesting/fun stories but chances are they going to suck tremendously.

Could a Dynasty Warriors style game work? After seeing the trailer for the upcoming PS3 Kamen Rider game, I think a DBZ game done in that type of style can be fun.

I'd like a Dynasty Warrior-esque game if it's done right. They can get repetitive though.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
There are very few points in the series where fights aren't 1 on 1 bouts. Unless you guys would like to face thousands of Red Ribbon Army, Saibamen, and Cell Jrs ...
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Yeah, I don't think a musou game fits Dragon Ball at all. There are a few times where you could fight groups of enemies (Goku vs RRA, etc) but that would be better handled like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 did it: with a hack n' slash mode that pops up for those few occasions in story mode.

One Piece's Dynasty Warrior makes me puke, it's exactly the same thing as Dynasty Warrior but with OP skins.Hellspawn28 wrote:Could a Dynasty Warriors style game work? After seeing the trailer for the upcoming PS3 Kamen Rider game, I think a DBZ game done in that type of style can be fun.
Seriously developers aren't creative any more, they just take what's done and simply add skins from a different franchise.

UbiSoft Montreal developed Naruto: The Broken Bond which is an excellent game but unfortunately they got replaced by CyberConnect2.
CC2's Naruto has pretty graphics, original voiceovers and music but the gameplay just feels off to me. I tried learning it and appreciating but it's not my favourite liquor at all.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Meh I'll hop on the new story train after we get a story mode that surpasses Budokai 1. It's really a damn shame that every game after the very first iteration of this cycle has failed to rival or go beyond the story mode that it had. The cutscenes were dynamic and fluid, they had extra missions that filled out some of the gaps in the first play through of story mode and the what ifs story wise are by far the best, Vegeta beating Goku in the Saiyan arc and going SSJ at the end, Freeza beating SSJ Goku and ruling the Universe and of course Cell's nightmare, all really grate stuff. Budokai 2 stepped up the what-ifs by a huge margin character wise and the story mode was somewhat of a big what if scenario in of itself but still not as cool as its predecessor.
The reanimated cutscenes in UT where cool but still I felt like that was an unnecessary step seeing as though we haven't got a through story mode with decent CG cutscenes not to mention they only one cutscene for the Boo arc. IW's cutscenes were ok but they lacked that "umph" that Budokai 1's cutscenes had.

It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Yeah I know what you mean. I have become increasingly disappointed with Namco Bandai and there lack of faithfullness to the story. I too will jump on the idea of a new story when they actually get the main story right >_>. I honestly don't see what's so hard about making it to be honest. Just give us a fight setup similar to Sparking Meteor and then give us all the important fights. Sparking Meteor's story would have been good if they didn't skip an ungodly amount of material. Seriously, jumping from Majin Vegeta's sacrifice to Buuhan is not ok.

I don't think we'll get a good story mode unless we have Dimps taking over. Spike's story modes have been quite lack lustre IMO.

Here's my theory about this:
If you look deeper into their sentence “Plan to Erad….ahem…conquer the world”, if they released Ultimate Mission for the 3DS, Zenkai Battle Royal for the PS3, XB360 and maybe Wii U, J Stars Victory Versus on the PS3 and Vita and Tap Battle on Android and iOS (and maybe Ultimate Butouden on the DS)...You’re looking at a game that has Dragon Ball in it on EVERY major console.
Or maybe I’m looking too deep into this? Maybe it’s just the Sparking HD collection.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
It's already confirmed that the next game won't be an HD Collection, and that it will be something new under development since last year (which is the reason we didn't get any "new" game last year).Rukura wrote:Maybe it’s just the Sparking HD collection.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Spike's best effort telling the Dragon Ball Z story is in Ultimate Blast, but the gameplay's unsatisfying.Saiyan Prince Vegeta wrote:I don't think we'll get a good story mode unless we have Dimps taking over. Spike's story modes have been quite lack lustre IMO.
Wii U's not doing well and because of such the price's have dropped a good amount. Like, from £250 to £189.99 it hurts them [sellers] to be selling at this price but otherwise no one would buy it. Neither does it have many games, that and developers are avoiding it.Rukura wrote:Here's my theory about this:

Another year without a new game, but it would allow the developers to spend more time improving the game without rushing it.Rukura wrote:Or maybe I’m looking too deep into this? Maybe it’s just the Sparking HD collection.
