Re: Battle of Gods...2?
I've revised my Battle of Gods sequel idea again and have posted it here http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =6&t=23185
After I develop the story enough, I'm thinking about having someone create story boards and concept art, and turn it into a manga.

No need to be rude about it, man.Nex Carnifex wrote:Can you stop
I just thought to myself, that if the series were to ever continue officially, I would love for things to somehow transpire in a way that forces Tenshinhan and Piccolo to get their power drawn out by the Old Kaioshin. Would be a decent means to make them more semi-useful than they are currently.

Hahaha, it's ok, I don't take myself seriously enough to be bothered by it. If you don't like, you can say it's complete shit and I won't mind.Zephyr wrote:No need to be rude about it, man.Nex Carnifex wrote:Can you stop
I do have friends that create comics, concept art, and story boards professionally though, so I can have it made into something.

I would love to see Piccolo, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha back into action, with more new & unique techniques. But I doubt it's gonna happen.Zephyr wrote:I would love for things to somehow transpire in a way that forces Tenshinhan and Piccolo to get their power drawn out by the Old Kaioshin.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I would really like this, but I can see why Toriyama didn't keep them on the same level as Goku, because if there were that many super powerful characters it would make the story difficult to write with all of them requiring equal time in the spotlight.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I would love to see Piccolo, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha back into action, with more new & unique techniques. Anyway I like your story. My favourite part though, is how you gave the other Gods alcohol related names.

Re: Battle of Gods...2?
This. I want to see something like a mix of the Raditz and Nappa fights...where the heroes are completely outmatched and have no chance of winning, but use actual strategy and teamwork to at least hold someone off for a while. This includes Piccolo leading the charge, Kuririn doing something surprisingly clever, Tenshinhan firing a life-draining attack, and involvement by #18. Yamcha helps too, I guess. Mr. Satan pretends to be the main strategist but ends up actually helping somehow. Boo and the Saiyans are off doing something else.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I would love to see Piccolo, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha back into action, with more new & unique techniques. OK, I need some confirmation for this because I've seen this piece of news on two separate Spanish anime/manga news sites. I trust both of them, especially one of them, who is sometimes late in announcing some news because they like to confirm it first. They both have, however, been wrong in a couple of occasions, so take this with a grain (or a handful) of salt.
So which news am I talking about? According to these sites, Akira Toriyama and Battle of Gods director, Masahiro Hosoda, either currently are, or will be in the near future, in talks or planning the return to TV of Dragon Ball Z, in a saga that would be the true continuation of the manga.
And not only that, but Toriyama has apparently told Shonen Jump (I imagine on the one that comes out next Monday in Japan) this:

Even thought I trust these 2 sites, Ramen para Dos and ANMTV, I'm having my serious doubts. Something this big would already be all over the Internet, but it's not. So, I can only imagine that perhaps these two sites are using a source that's making this up, or mistranslating something. Anyways, I'm just putting this here as a heads up, just in case, even thought this is not at all confirmed and is most likely a false rumor."If this movie manages to be successful overseas, that would imply the return of Dragon Ball to TV, in a new story that would follow the original manga, without taking GT into account"

All I know is the kanji for "sequel" / "continuation" 続編 is in the answer for next week's Q&A question:fogdark wrote:OK, I need some confirmation for this because I've seen this piece of news on two separate Spanish anime/manga news sites. I think it's more likely that it's a "they wouldn't be opposed to doing a sequel" thing rather than a definitive "yes they are going to do one if this requirement is met" thing. Holding my expectations back until I get a legit confirmation I guess. ^^;

I didn't try to translate anything down there because:
1) It still takes me a while to translate stuff.
2) I figured Julian will translate it (and do a much better job than I could) this coming Sunday/Monday when this issue's official street date arrives.

Well, damn, so there might be some truth to it? I'm guessing there's a mistranslation somewhere, so I'll wait until Kanzenshuu translates thisChuquita wrote:

Re: Battle of Gods...2?
Well I hope that's true. I've gotten so excited now, I hope it ends up being true.
Re: Battle of Gods...2?
I would be stunned if they were to continue it. O_O
I mean, I will happily take a continuation, but I'd be really surprised if they were to do one. (And would it mean ssjg Goku in manga-form? *Wants*. *_* )
I tried my crack at only the highlighted part at the very bottom and got "(Will there be a continuation once again?) And...."
The iffy part is that last character. It's kanji, it looks like "BO", but it's too fuzzy for me to feel comfortable guessing with it. I'm betting that part of the sentence is the source of the rumor. I've had different results from different kanji guesses that've given me wildly different answers; one said 'must not' and another said 'certainly'. So... ^^;
As said before, I'm just gonna wait for the official translation for the entire thing.

Re: Battle of Gods...2?
Maybe it's something like, "well if the movie is really successful there could be a chance of a continuation" or something like that.
I really don't want to gets my hopes up. But even then, it is one interesting question. I never thought Shonen Jump would ask something like that to Toriyama, I'm quite surprised they brought the topic of a continuation.
Anyways, I could go as far as guessing that there are plans for ..something, but that doesn't mean those plans will become a reality.

If there's any true on that, you might very well see my own version of Naked Sweaty Fan Boy.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"
Re: Battle of Gods...2?
I'd like a follow up but I can't help but think at how further they can stretch the story which has already been stretched so far. Even ignoring GT. I think more movies are the best option rather than a TV show.

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Re: Battle of Gods...2?
I like the idea of continuing as movies way more than through TV. Even if TV has easier access internationally, the quality of that DB/OP/T crossover's animation (for the most part) has left me cautious.
EDIT: Translated the question which I read as " あの結末の意味は?" / "The ending's meaning is?"
So..it's asking about what the end of the film means? Maybe a "what could be next" either for the characters or the franchise?

With regards to the ending, he wanted to make people think that there might still be more to come. Knowing Toriyama, that's most likely for his own amusement, but who knows? It's certainly not going to help kill the hoax making the rounds on social media, that's for sure.

Re: Battle of Gods...2?
Toriyama's comment is very similar to his introduction to the last manga volume, where he said that he made the ending in such a way that it still seemed like the story could continue. I guess he prefers his conclusions to be open-ended like that.
