One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
This crossover is officially listed as Toriko #99 and One Piece #590. Toei released the previous two on a separate DVD from either series' main DVDs.
Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
I knew it counted as the 590th episode of One Piece, but the 99th episode of Toriko as well? If that's true, then this crossover special should be dubbed in English before the end of the year!JulieYBM wrote:This crossover is officially listed as Toriko #99 and One Piece #590. 12-13 episodes are released per box set of Toriko in Eng Dub. They started being released in January. Box Set 4 comes out May 7th. This means they'll already have at least 46 episodes dubbed by the middle of May this year! We're already halfway there to reaching an English Crossover!
By the way, has anyone found this special subbed yet? All I can find is RAW.

Technically, episodes 1 and 51 of Toriko are also One Piece crossovers, I'm fairly certain they already skipped the first one for now?hulkty wrote:I knew it counted as the 590th episode of One Piece, but the 99th episode of Toriko as well? I've seen it subbed but in Portuguese (Brazillian Portuguese) only.hulkty wrote:I knew it counted as the 590th episode of One Piece, but the 99th episode of Toriko as well? Now that I noticed the sound effect changes, it does sound jarring. Even the SSJ effect sounds completely different.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I know Saint Seiya is still quite popular in countries like France or Brazil, but in other places? sure it was incredibly popular in most of Europe and Latin America, but time has passed, and it's popularity has gone down. With series like One Piece out there, I'd be really surprised if Saint Seiya is Toei's 2nd most popular anime internationally.Mewzard wrote:

I mean, I'd put it in the top 10 for sure, and perhaps even in the top 5, but I really find it hard to believe it's the 2nd most. Not saying that it isn't thought, and if you have the article where you found this information I'd love to read it (I love these kind of information of sales and stuff like that). But it's just that Saint Seiya isn't currently as mainstream as Dragon Ball still is, and it's only recently, with the appearance of Saint Seiya Omega, that the series is trying to become, once again, more mainstream...
Anyways, this special was made more or less for promotional purposes. The budget was pretty small, and the plot quite simple. To enjoy this special you must be a fan of at least 2 of the 3 series, so that the interactions between the characters can entertain you.
Also, this special takes place in it's own timeline if you will. The same timeline where the 2 previous One Piece x Toriko specials have taken place. On the first of those special, they met for the first time. On the second special they remembered each other. And now, on this 3rd special they follow this plot. Toriko and Luffy have met 2 times previously, while this is the first time they met Goku.

I've had this saved for a while, lol. There was more to this, and it was posted on the forum here, but I forgot where I found it. Still, here you go.
And don't forget, even ignoring Omega, Saint Seiya has had 3 ongoing manga since 2006 (Episode G, the Lost Canvas, and Next Dimension), and The Lost Canvas got a 2 season OVA (and back in 04, 05, they had the last SS movie, and the Hades OVAs were put out in the early to mid 00s). Omega is going on into a second season, and has started a manga of its own, while Toei is working on their CG movie of apparent awesomeness. For a Japanese series, that's a lot of material (that's ignoring Bandai's highly sucessful Myth Cloth line, the two recent video games, the surprisingly awesome Pachinko machine, the MMO being done, and the musical they did not too long ago).
Even Dragon Ball didn't quite go that nuts with other material, lol.
Blame Takahashi, he drew this for Sawai (that's Yami as drawn by his creator). The man forgot his own continuity? lolFennekin wrote:SInce I'm a big Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, I noticed a continuity error.
Yugi kept the Millennium Puzzle of a string from the first episode until the start of Season 2, where he put it on a chain instead. It was also 18 episodes into Season 2 that Yugi got the "Sfifer the Sky Dragon" card.
Since Yugi never goes back to wearing the Millennium Puzzle on a string in the civilian world, why is he wearing one now? xD
Anyways, I was also wonder, how would they release this episode? Would it fall under Toriko, One Piece or Dragon Ball Z? Or would this be released on it's own as a special?

Having watched this with subs, loved that moment when Kaio calls Goku to tell him a enormous and evil Ki has showed up and Goku teleports there. A few moments he returns when the other two are entering the arena and yells "I just came back from saving the world!".

That is fantastic. X3
Made even more so by the fact that it's left so vague that we don't even know what or who he saved it from. XD

Wow, that's quite interesting. It's impressive to see the dominance of Dragon Ball in the international market. And I'm pleasantly surprised to see Saint Seiya in 2nd place. How old is this chart, do you know? Because One Piece certainly is close enough to overtake 2nd place in due time. It certainly has the potential to, and Toei seems to think that One Piece is about to become hugely popular overseas. Anyways, even if that happens, Saint Seiya would still be in 3rd place. Not bad for a series that hasn't had the promotion a monster like Dragon Ball has had.Mewzard wrote:

Oh, and I know that there's been more Saint Seiya stuff, but I was referring to the mainstream audience. If the show is not on TV, in most cases won't be nearly as popular. Lost Canvas was, like you said, a series of OVA, and most of the games of the franchise are, as far as I know, only in Japan and a few other Asian countries. The way I see it, Saint Seiya Omega is the first good try to bring SS to a mainstream audience in Europe and Latin America...
Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

I'm pretty sure I got this from the Kai board in the last year. There was another pic with it where One Piece was second to DB in terms of Movie Money (not surprising, considering Saint Seiya's only had one movie in the last 20 years...2 as soon as they finish the new one), but I couldn't find it.fogdark wrote: Wow, that's quite interesting. The CG movie would be another such attempt at the "mainstream audience". I'd argue the four currently ongoing manga also count at least for Japan, but maybe that's just me.
I wonder if this crossover might lead to an animation for the new Jump Verses game, with a massive crossover...

I am pretty excited about watching this!
Is this just a world tournament episode? because that's going to be sweet! I'll watch it when I go over to my grandparents this weekend to take care of them. they haven't got internet so it will give me something to watch.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Watched it last night... eh it was ok I guess.
If anything I must say the Toriko characters aren't very appealing at all, they all feel like parody characters but whatevs. I don't like One Piece either but at least I can look at Luffy and kinda take him seriously.

Toriko is a great manga. The anime is just ok. You shouldn't let yourself be put off by limited presentation alone. Read a couple of volumes of the manga instead.goku the krump dancer wrote:Watched it last night... eh it was ok I guess.

Eh, I've read four volumes so far while 3-4 were a step up from the first two it still isn't really appealing to me. Terry and his mum are the only thing that I really like.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

In my experience, the Ice Hell arc is where we make up our minds about whether we really like this manga or not.Saiga wrote:Eh, I've read four volumes so far while 3-4 were a step up from the first two it still isn't really appealing to me.
