Re: J-Stars Victory Vs. (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
Birisu isn't a WSJ character, and shouldn't be in this game. Frankly, it would cheapen the experience to simply add a movie character just for marketing purposes when the game is supposed to celebrate the history of JUMP. Birisu isn't integral to Dragon Ball.

Will there be a website streaming the gameplay footage?
I'm highly interested to see what it's like (I imagine a mix of Zenkai Battle Royale w/Battle Stadium specials).

Jump Super Stars had 5 Dragon Ball characters (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Gotenks), while Jump Ultimate Stars had those 5, plus Freeza & Pure Boo. They also included Arale & Dr. Mashirito, but they were representing Dr. Slump.JulieYBM wrote:I don't think we'll see more than three characters from one franchise. There really isn't any reason to include so many heroes or villains from one series, let alone Dragon Ball. Simply having Gokuu, Vegeta, Beers, and maybe final form Freeza would be enough for Dragon Ball.

Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

True, but those weren't HD games. I also get the feeling that these will feature smaller casts from each series.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Certainly looks like Zenkai Battle Royale.

It sure does, just without flight. Unless they give Goku alone the ability to fly, which would probably be really broken.

I wish this was a bit longer I get too distracted by the bright graphics
It really does seem like a jump version of Zenkai though.

I'm surprised that there will be voice acting.

Me too. I'd like to play the demo version (PlayStation 3 demo on PS Store?) before purchasing but since it's kind of Zenkai Battle Royale's console version, I think it's safe to assume the game's gonna be great.Saiyan Prince Vegeta wrote:It definetly looks good. Guess I'll be importing this.
I hope this comes out this year because 2013's is going to have a ton of awesome games and consoles (announcements).
Why wouldn't there be? This isn't a Nintendo game.Wobbuffet wrote:I'm surprised that there will be voice acting.

Because it's a Jump-specific (read: manga) game, and there is no voice acting in manga.

Exactly.
Bubble speeches would work just fine. Actually, I was expecting at least some written sound effects, like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - All-Star Battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40BH5a5ltfY
I love how Jump Ultimate Stars had speech bubbles and written sound effects. It just doesn't feel like a manga game without them.
EDIT: A friend of mine noticed some silhouettes in the video at 0:23. I can't watch the video right now. Can anybody please take an screenshot?

Looks a lot like a ground based Zenkai Battle Royal. Called it
. Seems like it'll be funny, even if just to put these characters against each other lol.
Also, regarding Beers/Birus being or not in the game, this is a game based on Weekly Jump titles. Aren't the animes based on the same Weekly Jump titles being used in the game? Besides, nothing's keeping them from releasing a one-shot in Jump with him and being able to say "Hey, he's from Weekly Jump now too der her her". I don't see why not to include him, other than for the sake of the purity of the Weekly Jump name, which I could understand.
Which is also fully voiced. I think it'll most likely have the written sound effects, is my guess.Wobbuffet wrote:Exactly.

Those are generic silhouettes, just to say that Goku, Luffy, Naruto, and Toriko won't be the only characters featured in the game. They don't represent any defined Jump character, I think.Wobbuffet wrote:A friend of mine noticed some silhouettes in the video at 0:23. I can't watch the video right now. Re: J-Stars Victory Vs. (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
I like the fact that the "manga media" (through artworks and generic "manga reunion" games like this one), we can see the Dragon Ball and Naruto franchises interacting, which can't happen with the anime.
So far, we have:
- Artwork for the Dragon Ball Kanzenban release by Naruto's author.
- Artwork by each author showing their main hero in the other franchise's universe and clothes.
- Naruto wearing Goku's dogi.
- Possibly Naruto and Goku interacting in Jump-related games.
With One Piece, we have:
- Artwork for the Dragon Ball Kanzenban release by One Piece's author.
- A full - though short and out of unrelated to the original universes - manga adventure by both authors reuniting characters from both series.
- An animated two-episodes crossover (which also includes Toriko too).
- Possibly Luffy and Goku interacting in Jump-related games.
Ah, yeah, for the crossover two-parts episode, I would have prefered Goku/Luffy/Naruto, but it's not possible for the reasons we know and that special episode was still something great and really enjoyable!
But I'm just glad this game might be an occasion for Naruto to actually join Goku and Luffy in a new story, I'd like seeing the three of them teaming up someday, and games or mangas are the only way to do this, with games being the most likely possibility.

Now that you mention now I saw that there's black shadows in the background which I didn't notice before. Roster's gonna be pretty good and big I suppose.Eddie wrote:The silhouette behind the one Goku's hand is partially covering looks like he has Super Saiyan 3 hair to me. Gotenks, perhaps?
Any possibility they'll include Super Saiyan God? Let's hope so.

I wonder how Goku's transformations will work. I wouldn't mind only getting Super Saiyan but I'd love to be able to use more levels!
