Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
Their big DBZ panel for this year better be in a bigger space. The room they had for the DBZ panel at last year's Animazement was overpacked and far too small for the amount of guests, staff, and people they had packed in there. And this years has even more DBZ folks, so... ballroom/main events room?
Just a heads-up to anyone who is going to AZ for the first time... Get in line for panels/events early, like 30 mins to an hour early. Voice actor panels and musical acts always fill the quickest. I would hate for anyone here to be turned away at the door to see these guests.

Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
This sounds like the best DB panel ever, both adult Goku's, both teen/adult Gohan's, the original voices of Piccolo, Freeza and Videl/Pan. Only thing I could see making it better is, Horikawa, Sabat and Ayres show up.
But, that'd be a ridiculous amount of people (albeit awesome).
I hope someone records the whole panel.

We've got several heroes and Freeza...I picture the panel would be like 5 people sitting together one end of the table, and Nakao in a lonely villian corner.

It might sound a bit silly but I'm slightly worried that there will be some idiot who will be rude and say things like "you suck Nozawa! Stop making Goku sound like a pussy!" *Shudders*.

Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
Even though someone might think that, I doubt they'd have the balls to say it in person. Even if they somehow did that, other fans, and even Schemmel would probably get on their case fast. In multiple interviews Sean Schemmel has stated the amount of respect he has for Nozawa (and Toriyama), so if anyone tried to talk shit like that, it'd probably get shut down fast. But, I believe that's just something people say on the internet. Even if they don't like her, they'd never say it. You usually don't hear negative things about the people involved in the panels (in person that is).ringworm128 wrote:It might sound a bit silly but I'm slightly worried that there will be some idiot who will be rude and say things like "you suck Nozawa! Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
Most anime fans I've interacted with at cons are usually pretty nice in person, it's just the really negative opinions tend to come out when the safety of the internet's involved. So, I wouldn't worry about there being any open haters there. If so, I'll deal with them personally.
I think the worst comment I've heard at a panel came from someone who told an anime producer that he "downloaded your show, but didn't like the ending..." Way to go, fucknuts!

I almost had a heart attack when I went to the Animazement website and in their updates section it said, "Guest Cancellation". Luckily, it's only Cristina Vee who had to cancel due to a minor medical concern. Not to disrespect her or anything by saying, "it's only Cristina Vee", but I'm so relieved it wasn't any of the Japanese guests who had to cancel.

Kara Edwards has been added as a guest and she had a post on Twitter and Facebook talking about how she's fangirling over the fact she'll get to meet her Japanese counterparts for Goten and Videl (so Nozawa and Minaguchi).

Ugh. If only I had money and the engine on my car hadn't blown last week, I would consider making the 8-10 hour trek down there to see them. Man, that would be epic. Why can't we get them in Maryland?! That would be so much easier!

Maybe it's a good thing I can't go, because seeing the line to meet Sean Schemmel being longer than the line to meet Masako Nozawa would depress me.

Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
You know, you may be onto something. I've noticed that English voice actors get some of the largest turn-outs when it comes to attendance, especially when compared to Japanese guests. Last Animazement, we had a couple of high-profile Japanese animators/directors as guests (Ichiro Itano, Masao Maruyama, etc), but their panels' attendance always paled in comparison to "hot dub voice-actor of the week."
It's kind of sucks, but from what I've heard, it's a common thing at cons. I know fans love to see the voices behind their favorite characters, but I also feel that they should give due to the folks that were actually involved in creating the anime as well. Personally, yours truly will be in line to see all the DBZ VAs, Japanese and English.

Man, I so wish I could go...I've never been to a con before, and before interviewing Jason Chan (Cam from Power Rangers Ninja Storm), I've never spoken to someone whose voice I've heard on TV before...damn, this sucks.
I'll be counting on you guys going to have bardic-level descriptive tales, videos, and I hope Mike pops off interviews with everyone (Especially if he can get the voice actors original and dub actors at the same time...that would be amazing). A few cool audio clips, some panel videos, and my brain will be able to shut down for the week.
Can't wait to hear what comes from this (hopefully, at least a good group Kamehameha).

Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
It's just one of those things that depends on a person's interests I think. As much as I love anime (and animation in general), I'm more of a voice over fan than I am of a specific animator. It's just not one of those things that really gets me excited for some reason, I don't know why. And while if I could go to this con, I would be fanboying over both sides of the spectrum, I can easily see why I'd still be spending more time with the English cast - if I got time to talk to them outside of just a quick autograph at all anyway - than I would the Japanese cast. Not because I prefer one over the other but...well, I can't speak Japanese. At all. So while I'd get an autograph from Nozawa and the rest, and have someone convey my thanks to them for me or something, it'd be Schemmel and the others I'd actually spend some time talking to if I could.theoriginalbilis wrote:You know, you may be onto something. Re: North Carolina's Animazement to Host Nozawa and Furukawa
I'd definitely be excited too if I were him. The character of Goku pretty much launched his career. I'm hoping they'll have an amazingly-awesome DBZ panel, even the one from last year (with Furukawa, Cason, and Edwards) was a fun experience. I still think we should to have some kind of get-together with all the Kanzenshuu forum folks, this occasion is too much of a good opportunity to pass up...
Speaking of the con, hopefully their convention schedule will be announced in the next couple of days.

Haha, that was the small conversation I had with him. But, I still wish I could go. Ah, well, hopefully someone records the panel though. I tend to enjoy most of the viewing panels on YouTube. This one just sounds like it's the best one for a Dragon Ball fan, original or/dub fans.

I hope the DB stuff is on Saturday, since that's my day off work. Also, when are we gonna decide when the Kanzenshuu meetup is?
