How does Toei Handle Piracy?
It's been only a few days and the complete Special Episode Crossover of Toriko, Dbz and One piece has already been leaked online in HD.
Besides there are just too much clips of Battle of Gods in the internet, How does Toei handle this? Does it affect the Franchise too much?

There's room for only one snake, and one big boss.
Re: How does Toei Handle Piracy?
I'd think they're more worried about the movie being leaked than the crossover due to the nature of theater vs TV.
If there weren't so much unseen legal tape, Toei could've had Funi officially stream that special; Funi does own licenses to all three of those franchises.
Actually, I feel Toei's been doing a very good job overall of keeping people from leaking the movie. Not a single person's managed to illegally get the entire movie online and we're almost two weeks in. That's pretty good security; better than OPZ which was leaked in its entirety within the first three weeks. Sure there are clips of BOG, but I guess it's impossible for Toei to track every last piece.

On hiatus.
Re: How does Toei Handle Piracy?
I think a lot of the time Toei just isn't aware or too busy. I think overall they're quite tough on the subject.
Although, I have heard that OPZ has leaked in a format other than theatre camrips. Almost like low quality DVDrips, even though (To my knowledge) there is no home release yet. They should probably get on that.

The anime episodes of popular series like One Piece or Naruto come out the same day they air on TV, in 720p & subbed. It's been like this for years.Black_Liger wrote:It's been only a few days and the complete Special Episode Crossover of Toriko, Dbz and One piece has already been leaked online in HD.

The crossover wasn't "leaked", since it was ripped from when it aired on TV, and was released on the Internet after its airing.

Re: How does Toei Handle Piracy?
To clarify, there is much less Toei can do about its TV properties being pirated because of the simple fact that they broadcast it, and have no control over people recording the show at home (which is not illegal in itself). They can attempt to police streaming sites like YouTube, and send cease-and-desist letters to distributors of TV rips and fansubs, but in the end, there's only so much they can do.
A movie that's still in theaters, on the other hand, is something that people pay money for the privilege to see, and whose distribution is restricted to the copies received by cinemas, and screener discs passed to select members of the media. To pirate this involves recording off the screen with a camcorder (an illegal act which can get you into all sorts of hot water if you're caught), or copying a screener disc (which immediately narrows the search for the culprit down to a handful of people).
That said, watching pirated versions of either is technically illegal, and not something we condone here. We tend to be more forgiving of recorded TV broadcasts, for the simple fact that a home release is not (yet) available and the original broadcast was free to watch (beyond the yearly tithe to the NHK man, anyway), but please do refrain from posting links to full episodes here unless they come from an official source.

Related to what Julian stated, Kanzenshuu does not condone posting links to full-length content unless it is from an official source, so we cannot provide you with the means to view the crossover special.Magical Hobo wrote:Where can I watch it? Do you know?

Re: How does Toei Handle Piracy?
From what I've been told that Toei sometimes does not care when people download fan subs of their shows and movies. People like Over-Time and TV-Nihon sub Japanese stuff all of the time and Toei never takes down their subs.

Well I can't say, but pretty much everything ends up in youtube easy as heck.Magical Hobo wrote:Where has it been leaked?Black_Liger wrote:It's been only a few days and the complete Special Episode Crossover of Toriko, Dbz and One piece has already been leaked online in HD.
Lol yeah, I worded that a little weird but yes, that's what I was trying to say.Chuquita wrote:The crossover wasn't "leaked", since it was ripped from when it aired on TV, and was released on the Internet after its airing.
Thanks everyone for the answers, I made this post because I don't really know what to think about this, piracy is bad yes, but I didn't really look too much into it until I heard a film music company had to close because of an issue related to piracy. So well I got a little curious and upset about the fact how easy it is to rip tv anime and put it online, I was worried dbz might have been recieving a blow to the budget by this. D:

Re: How does Toei Handle Piracy?
They tend not to care about the tokusatsu stuff that isn't legally available in English speaking places. They did send a cease and desist to the people releasing Kamen Rider V3, as I recall, because that's one of the few shows that is available in the west on DVD. Of course, Kanzenshuu knows from experience that Toei can issue mass take down notices for things like Dragon Ball on YouTube when they feel like it, whether the content should be considered fair use or not.Hellspawn28 wrote:From what I've been told that Toei sometimes does not care when people download fan subs of their shows and movies. If TPP passes in your country it will be illegal for you to watch an imported DVD. Click here to learn more!

I notice Toei only blocks videos on Youtube in Japan and not worldwide like other Japanese studios like Toho does.

You're still asking -- in a poorly-written way -- for the community to aid you in active piracy, and none of us are going to do that.

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People
