Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I re-watched all of the boo saga, then all of dragon ball... lol. I have since quenched my dragon ball thirst and now I guess I am backing off the series a little before I over-do it and burn out. I mean ya know, until I can see the new movie. Which is what got me excited in the first place. It's kind of anti-climatic and weird to get all excited about a movies release only to not be able to watch it once it's out haha.

It's made me really pissed off since it's been out for over 2 weeks but I still can't find a way to watch it
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

Fly to Japan and buy a ticket at the nearest movie theatre. :)

I think the biggest impact I can isolate is that my fanhood feels more relevant than usual. Dragonball is a current and exciting thing in the Anime world right now.

I think it hasn't done anything much. It made me go on the forums less because I didn't want any spoilers. My fanhood is actually going back and forth since I haven't seen it yet. I have seen the DBxTorikoxOP special and it made me scream and smile but mostly smile and laugh. With Battle of Gods I don't know what is going to happen. It isn't going to be like the 2008 special where its funny and never actually serious because the characters were so weak something that makes you smile, enjoy the new adventure and remember the old. This movie seems like its a plot point in the series as weird as that sounds, sort of like a Star Wars episode 1, or since we knew the outcome of that lets say it's like episode 7 it would seem like a continuation but I don't know what to expect.

It's gotten me into the habit of trying to snuff out stupid misinformation wherever I see it (Facebook, Youtube, 4chan, etc).

I can't really say it's had an impact per say, but it certainly has had me more excited and wrought with anticipation than anything DB related has in years. Honestly (and I know people are going to faceplam at this), I really hadn't felt this way since we slowly started to get the Season Sets to trickle out. That's the only feeling I can say that's rivaled Battle of Gods excitement for me, is when I was excited to finally have a way to own the entire series in an easy to get package.

It also dragged me back in here more so than any other previous event, here being the forum.

It gave me hope for the future of Dragon Ball in America. As in, more Dragon Boxes please FUNimaiton!

It's so cool that Dragon Ball is still popular enough for a new movie to be made. The fandom had been reactivated. Dragon Ball on Saturday morning cartoons in America, a new Dragon Ball movie in Japan, it's a good thing.

Online, Episode of Bardock, Heroes. All complete shit.

Battle of Gods, also shit. So I'm pretty much at the edge.

I personally didn't get too into Heroes, or Episode of Bardock(though I like to think of it as a cool non-canon "what if"). More promotion =releasing of merchandise(like the re-release Desktop McCoy Goku on Bike) and some guidebooks people never would have without the movie; isn't that a good thing? I'm not a fan of the newer animation but I'm waiting on Battle of Gods to see what it is like. Did you like the 2008 special? I thought it was fantastic Sorry for all of the questions. Seeing someone who has been on the forums and with the series for so long, and me being in the same boat, though new to these forums, it had me want to reach out and ask.

Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars came out and I thought they were disasters. But since it made so more people exposed, and able to look back at 4-6 and see the real treasures they are, can't the same go for Dragon Ball?

Completely agree.

Though, I'm quite looking forward to BoG. It looks a bit silly, though doesn't seem to be much more than the Boo-arc, and it doesn't look like it's stupidly childish, character destroying and poorly written trash like Episode of Bardock. Super Saiyan God Goku looks cool too, and the animation seems better than other recent animations, which ranged from decent to awful.

Wait, is Online bad? I never heard that in my whole time being here... Other than that, I agree with Episode of Bardock. That was an abomination. Heroes is just some fucking game I can't even play. There isn't a reason to for me to hate it. I'm in different towards it. BoG doesn't look bad either. Sure "Godku" is a thing now but hey, he loses. It's nowhere near the bullshit we've seen in movie 8 and 13.

BoG has definitely gotten me back into the Kanzenshuu forums on a semi-regular basis. :D

Also, strangely, all of the recent news of the past several months has influenced me to finish Dragon Ball Kai (which I recently did.) Other then looking to the new movie (and hopefully more in the future), I'm looking forward to the Kai Buu arc and the Full Color manga being released here. In terms of games... I have a feeling we'll see Birus and/or SSJ God in whatever big game is announced soon.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I'm gonna go ahead and echo this. Being a DBZ fan hasn't seemed terribly relevant to me since the turn of the millennium, even with all the games and the finishing of the dubs (the movies, etc.).

I really didn't like Kai, so there's that.
