I think Freeza has the best one liners in the FUN dub. "Round and round the monkey goes. If he should stop then off with his nose" This is comedy gold haha
Frieza: Round and round the monkey goes. If he should stop , then OFF WITH HIS NOSE!!!!

I always really liked Vegeta's "Tell me. Is it slavery when you get what you want?" line in the Boo Arc of the FUNi dub.

This is the only one in the thread so far that I don't recognize. Is that from Kai?

The only English dub I'm even vaguely familiar with enough to quote was the original syndication broadcast from 1996-1998. It's Kelamis!Goku immediately after he elbows Recoome ("I saw an opening that seemed to scream out 'ATTACK!' So... I did. HA!").

Even though that wasn't in the Japanese version I always liked that.
Yeah, me too.

Also:
Goku: I think your friend's having a nervous breakdown!
Jheese: He's just cooling off mate, he'll be back.

and:
Lord Slug: Nothing like a little window shopping.

....Actually, :lolno:

I think my real favourite is from DBZ Movie 9 when Bojack says, "It's been so long...since I've snatched someone's neck!"
That, or anything dub Cooler says because I always had a soft spot for his voice.

So I could just count everything said by Clarke's Cell but one "line" I never get tired of is during 16's speech to Gohan, he turns around and just goes "bleah!!" in disgust at all the sappiness.

A lot of the better lines were in the Buu Arc dub.

Goku telling Vegeta that Saiyan pride doesn't mean anything when they are all dead.

Super Buu's verbal beatdown of Gohan. Now, I could definitely see Chris Ayres's Freeza saying something along those lines.

"Does a machine like yourself ever experience fear?" and "Fight you? No, I wanna kill you," are among the ones I can name off the top of my head.

Goku's pep talk to get Vegeta to fuse; hits a lot harder than the Japanese, and one of the few times where the dubs added dialouge was effective.

Piccolo: *Shoots Nappa* I thought it was your face!

Vegeta: Bwahaha! I don't know, Nappa, it's an honest mistake!

---

#16: Now you're powerless; like a bee without a stinger.

Cell: Your analogy of the bee... isn't quite accurate. When a bee loses it's stinger, it's done, the bee dies. I on the other hand... *regrows tail*. I love the Nameks. Such an amazing race.

---

Super Buu: So it's just a kid's game huh? Well BUG OFF! IT WAS ENOUGH TO BEAT YOU, LOSER!

---

Goku: *Has kamehameha reversed by Janemba* Was that... me that shot me?

It may be censorship but the delivery of it is hysterical.
I've always said, if Funi HAD to keep one holdover from the TV edits THAT is the one to keep.

Big Momma wrote:One of my favorite moments in the old FUNi dub is when Freeza impales Krillin. As he's torturing him and thrusting him up and down, he yells "Yee-haw! Ride em cowboy!" I just thought that was so deliciously sadistic. Especially with Kikuchi's score playing in the background. Despite being inaccurate, it was a helluva nice touch.
I've always been a tad conflicted on that line. On the one hand, I think it was clearly written in the interest of "punching up the comedy," as was FUNimation's standard practice back then. On the other hand......you're right, that's actually a pretty sick thing to say to someone as you impale them and then continually slide their body up and down the object upon which they're impaled.
Considering this is from the guy who considered the entire battle up to Goku's arrival one giant "horror show"- just his making the group squirm at how dead they are - I don't really see how can consider the line a stretch. The language is flavored, but the intent is in-character.

Easily my favourite line from the English dub. Legitimately a bad ass line, and its placement was perfection.

"Yet another fighter you could have saved." Best "fuck you" FUNi ever got out.

Everything Majin Vegeta says in the FUNi dub; even "I think I finally understand you...let's go!" seems loaded with significance, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. When his FUNi lines are more poetic than the Viz ones, you sit up and take notice.

That's an accurate translation of the Japanese line though. I like the Kai dub's wording much more though (of course). It was something like "Can a machine experience anything akin to true fear?!"

Can't think of a Kai dub line that wasn't accurate to the Japanese one that I particularly love. But I love lots of lines from the old season 3 dub such as:

"Ooooh noo..... It's Vegetaa.... AAAAAAAH.... It... can't.. beeeee!!!!"

Of course, it's for all the wrong reasons.

"90% of you here don't even know what you're talking about (there are a few that do). But the things you say about these releases are nonsense and just plain dumb. Like you Metalwario64"--final_flash

I don't remember anything else about the Garlic Jr. arc. Just this cheesy dub line.

All the wrong reasons indeed, Metalwario. TVTropes considers that "narm" I believe, when something is supposed to trigger an emotional response, but comes out unintentionally hilarious, which is pretty much what that is. Same thing with the line Trunks says, I believe to the tune, "If they release that android, it will be the end of all of us!!! NOOOOOOO!!!" So frickin' terrible, but so funny.
"You haven't figured it out yet? I'm the Saiyan who came all the way from Earth for the sole purpose of beating you. I am the warrior you've heard of in legends, pure of heart and awakened by fury. That's what I am. I AM THE SUPER SAIYAN, SON GOKU!" - Goku, Dragon Ball Z Kai, The Angry Super Saiyan! Throw Your Hat in the Ring, Son Goku!

I really like some of Nappa's lines. "It doesn't matter how angry you get, there's still nothing you can do to stop us!" "I haven't got all day, I wanna see what the great Kakarot's made of! I also love how well it goes with the Kikuchi score. Goku's "I won't let you get away with this" line from when he turned SSJ. And his "million times stronger" line from when he does the Kaioken X20.

I just checked and apparently one of my favorite Cell lines isn't in the original either.

This is after he's returned as "Super Perfect" Cell and is completely deranged.

I think it's funny hearing people in the dub say "Goku". They kind of put a weird emphasis on "GO". Two that immediately come to mind from the Buu arc's original dub is Roshi's "Welcome back to Earth, Goku!" (MacFarland) and Kaio's "Stop it... STOP IT NOOOOOOW GOOOKUUUUU!!" (Schemmel).

It may just be that they have goofy voices in general, though...
