Well I always enjoy works works by Naoko Takeuchi (
Sailor Moon,
Codename: Sailor V) and Rumiko Takahashi (
Ranma 1/2,
InuYasha) but I don't actively go watching "this seasons hottest anime on Crunchyroll" if you get the gist of where I'm getting at.

Well I haven't read the comic so I can't judge there, but if you read the previous quotes it seems like the topic was on the anime adaptation.
By the way, I do actually like
Bleach (I'd actually say I even like it more than
Naruto and
One Piece), but its a series that I feel was at its best during its original season where it was more-self contained.

Right on, man. First and foremost, all of the anime I like tend to have an interesting narrative. I will say I like a good number of anime, but definitely not
all anime. Like all forms of entertainment, there's more crap out there than quality material. One of the reasons I give other non-DB anime a chance, is because the Japanese creators attempt to tell a wider variety of stories, from different genres, and aimed at many different demographics than you'd ever get in American animation (though US cartoons are slowly starting to get there.)
As I stated earlier, that's one of the biggest strengths about Dragon Ball: it has such a large mainstream appeal, while simultaneously being very similar to and very different from other anime.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

To be honest I'm also not a huge fan of anime, the only anime which I have actually enjoyed are dragonball and Yu Yu hakusho.
I find modern shounen manga to be nauseating, I just can't get into things like naruto or bleach.
Also while there are few anime which are well written and have great stories, these tend to be the exception rather than the rule. Most anime are just really badly written and the characters types and stories are recycled and cliche. I honestly think in terms of writing and good many western animated shows such Avatar, batman the animated series and the justice league are just so much better in terms of characters and story telling.
It just seems to me that most anime (with a few exceptions of course) are just very stale and badly written.

To be fair, one could argue that those western animated shows you listed are exceptions in a sea of bad shows as well. It's pretty much the same with anything.

Can't say I'm a big fan of Dragon Ball any more, I tend to prefer collecting video games over Dragon Ball.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

I think it's completely OK. What is weird to me, is liking anime only because it is anime. The whole ''otaku'' stuff is too much alien for me.

Yeah, I'm huge fan of DC Animated Universe!!! But I think you can apply this on everything, only few anime I found being good and most of them allready have cult status.
I can say, that I'm more fan of DC Comics (Especially Batman) than any manga or any other anime series.
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88

This.
I am interested in some Anime, but it is very, very casual. I'm very curious about One Piece though, and I'm hoping to dive into the Manga at some point.
Funnily enough, I use to watch tons of Anime as a kid but I didn't really take notice of the fact that it was Anime.
On a side note, are we meant to capitalize the word "A/anime"?

I would call myself an anime fan (refer to my signature)but nothing like an otaku or weeaboo. While I do like forms of Japanese culture I.e. Anime, manga, games I do like american media DC comics being a big example and with this, and there is one thing I like even more than anime. Gaming mostly Nintendo but batman arkham city is one of my favourite games of all time as well as portal 2 both american made games.

I don't like anime or manga in general just because they are manga or anime. I like a particular series because of its inherent qualities. Fortunately, I've come across several series in manga and anime that I liked and became a fan of, after giving them a chance.
I do agree that Dragon Ball seems to have a broader appeal than most of anime and manga, tough.

I guess I would have to say that I'm only a true fan of DBZ. When I was a kid I watched all of the Toonami shows like Yu Yu and Gundam and I liked them a lot. But they didn't carry on with me like Dragonball did. I have tried to watch bleach but I feel like it takes itself way too seriously. One piece looks fun, but I feel like there are so many episodes, that if I start now I will never finish.

The only anime that I have been able to watch consistently are Dragonball/Z/GT and Rurouni Kenshin. Or at least until the end of the Kyoto Arc on the latter. The end of Kenshin makes the Dragonball filler look a lot better

One Piece takes itself too seriously?

. I'm sorry but that juts means that you haven't read enough of it or you didn't get it. I agree with Naruto though. As for FMA is takes itself seriously in just the right amount.

I actually watched 500+ episodes of One Piece. i just made it to the Punk Hazzard arc. but i just made a mistake .. i thought he mean a parody animes like Gintama, comparing to Gintama One Piece take it self seriously. but comparing to other Shonen animes like Naruto .. it doesn't.
anyway .. talking about DragonBall, original series didn't take itself seriously, but Z did.

I'm a huge fan of Dragon Ball, but I'm into other anime and manga too. I like One Piece, Hunter X Hunter, Dr. Slump, and Detective Conan, amoung others.

Pretty much what both of these comments say, is my feeling on it. I'm a huge fan of a lot of different anime and manga, but I'm also a huge fan of certain games, and books, and TV shows, and US comics (though that one's far limited compared to other stuff, at least the comics themselves), and what have you. I like stuff that happens to intrigue me, regardless of whatever format it comes in. However, a majority of my favorite things do tend to be anime and manga, or spring from them, so...yeah, overall I'd say I'm an 'anime' fan - even if Gaffer's comments about how that's kind of a hard thing to really say makes a lot of sense.

Err, I'm not sure if the way my post was worded, but I like Dragon Ball... both manga AND anime. I just don't like anime other than Dragon Ball/Z/GT (kinda).

I suggest you watching Yu Yu Hakusho, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Toriko. those are similar animes to DragonBall. especially Yu Yu Hakusho.
