Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Light is so fast that it could circle the Earth seven-and-a-half times in one second.
And yet, despite all the times characters arrive late, are in chase scenes that don't loop around the planet, or spend any time at all travelling, you think they're even faster than that.

Every time I read something from it, I'm struck by how ridiculous and wrong it is. I mean, he even links to that paper about Dash moving faster than the eye can see and then completely misses the point and throws in his own nonsense and broken science.RandomGuy96 wrote:Seriously, read the blog.
It's like he thinks photons are chasing you and that you'll be invisible if you're faster than them. It's like saying: "I'm faster than water, so I can travel through water without touching it." If he actually understood the article he linked to at all, he'd realize you don't even need to be faster than light to be faster than the eye can see.In sum: photons move at light speed, it is photons bouncing of the object that allow us to see it, if the object were moving faster than light it would be moving faster than the photons can bounce off and therefore would be "invisble" to a human eye.
Which, as I said, is information only found in a blurb written by Viz on the back of a one of their volume releases, which, in my opinion, contradicts what we actually see in the manga--and even contradicts what Goku himself says before performing the feat in question.BUT AGAIN we know Goku can cross Earth in one second as he did on Namek and that is his lowest proven speed feat so I am going to use that.

Back on-topic, if your saying that Dragonball feats such as not being seen during the Budokai are relevant to this discussion, how do you explain the entire world being able to watch the SSJ3 Goku/Fat Buu fight?

There's room for only one snake, and one big boss.
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Everyone in the stadium was able to follow the fight between Goten and Trunks and they are millions of times stronger that the fighters that the audience couldn't follow in early Dragon Ball so that doesn't explain it.Black_Liger wrote:It was broadcast right in their minds, they had their eyes closed the entire time.Back on-topic, if your saying that Dragonball feats such as not being seen during the Budokai are relevant to this discussion, how do you explain the entire world being able to watch the SSJ3 Goku/Fat Buu fight?

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Black Liger is right about the Goku vs Boo example. Babidi wanted to make an example out of Goku so he projected the image into the minds of everyone on the planet all they needed to do was close their eyes so they can see it.
About the early Dragon Ball example, its funny how everyone mentions that Krillin and Roshi had to explain step by step, why Krillin passed out after that sudden flash of light. That in that short instant punches, kicks and even spit was thrown and dodged. But it seems that you all forget that, that same audience bore witness not only to the rest of that fight but also (with no problem mind you) to the fight between Goku and Roshi which was far superior to the fight Roshi had against Krillin.
So maybe that just goes to show that DB characters can control their combat speed.
There are plenty of times where the untrained eye witnessed something that they probably shouldn't have like another example being Goku vs Cell, or hell even the 22nd and 23rd budokai tournaments.

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
It's silly to expect characters to be 100% effective every single time. If that were the case then someone like the Flash would literally never fail or even be remotely challenged. Thats why Death Battle uses best feats rather than trying to average together every single event. And thats not even especially unrealistic. Nobody is ever permanently at the top of their game. But you can't rationalize every contradiction. Sometimes things just happen for plot purposes. Take a character's demonstrable top feats in each category and run with that as their theoretical best.

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
I still don't think Superman goes down to mere force. So Kratos would have to rely on more than physical might to outright kill him. But, yes, at these levels it just gets ridiculous. The Flash can friggin' time travel. Many higher level Marvel and DC characters are things like "Death," "the Wrath of God," and sometimes just straight up "reality is what I say it is." Even the writers fumble over this. Thanos is saddled with the ridiculous character flaw that he subconsciously "wants to lose" because how else do you beat a guy with the Infinity Gauntlet if he isn't psychologically crippled enough to let you win? Versus matches are incredibly silly when contemplating characters who are basically just very serious Looney Tunes.
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
I didn't want to make a whole new topic to ask this, but didn't Toriyama draw Freeza's spacehship in the background during Goku and Freeza's fight? I could've sworn someone posted a scan of that once.
Either that or I made it up in my head.

Invincible in what meaning of the word? Superman Prime has reality warping hax on his side.Rocketman wrote:Kratos brutalizes both Goku and Superman.TonyTheTiger wrote:Take a character's demonstrable top feats in each category and run with that as their theoretical best.

Totally invincible. Cannot take damage. Doesn't have a health bar, and the game mechanics do not allow him to be hurt or even stunned.TheMightyOzaru wrote:Invincible in what meaning of the word? Superman Prime has reality warping hax on his side.

Game mechanics? I guess Mario can survive being killed multiple times because he has one-ups? Game mechanics shouldn't be involved in this. Reality warping can involve simply erasing you from existence. I don't think Kratos can survive that.Rocketman wrote:Totally invincible. Cannot take damage. Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
If we're going by DB Standards then Death Battle already had Kratos being killed by Spawn, and Spawn's nothing compared to guys that can blow up the earth.
Sean Schemmel is THE MAN! :)

Kratos, no. H-Kratos, yes. He's infused with a concept, and concepts aren't part of reality.TheMightyOzaru wrote:Game mechanics? Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Hope they do more episodes like Goku vs Superman and He-Man vs Lion-O. I love the banter those episodes had. I also find it funny how they say He-man isn't as strong as Superman, yet the stats they put up with his harness are above Superman pre-sun dip strength.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
