Kuririn has nothing on Cell in-universe but it doesn't matter if it is a video game. And those two comics have already met in other JUMP crossovers.TheMightyOzaru wrote:I've always had a problem with Dragon Ball characters ending up in games where they would just slaughter the competition. You must be high.
The gameplay was terrible and shallow.
Raging Blast 2 or Burst Limit were the best.

Except they're too fast for Kamui and can destroy planets? I often hear that Naruto characters could stand a chance but they really wouldn't. Kakashi couldn't even hit Deidara properly.JulieYBM wrote:...in which Kakashi, Tobi, and Madara kick the shit out of anyone in Dragon Ball.TheMightyOzaru wrote:I've always had a problem with Dragon Ball characters ending up in games where they would just slaughter the competition. Also, in one of the new chapters Madara got hit by Lee because of his speed. Dragonball Z characters move faster than the human eye in the Saiyan saga.

I'd actually love a UT2 if they redid the gameplay to not involve luck and separate melee/blast ranges.
I have recently started getting back into Ultimate Tenkaichi, and I can see that a sequel has tonnes of potential.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Can someone tell me how an UT2 would have potential? Because Hero and Story mode could easily be moved to a new game.
Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
That's not the only good thing about UT. I liked the Spirit system, and how Supers and especially Ultimates can't just be spammed. I also think the chain finishers look really cool, and they could improve them majorly by turning the rush type Supers into chain finishers, giving the characters unique finishers. Also loved the graphics, the addition of giant bosses... replace the Janken, remove the ranges and improve on what was already good and I'd be really happy.miguelnuva1 wrote:Can someone tell me how an UT2 would have potential? Pros:miguelnuva1 wrote:Can someone tell me how an UT2 would have potential? Because Hero and Story mode could easily be moved to a new game.
- Story Mode
- Cutscenes
- Mini Games
- Boss Battles
- Soundtrack
- Graphics
- Destroyed Arenas
- Personalised Characters
- Decent Amount of Characters
Cons:
- No Actual Gameplay (to be fair it had a small amount that was moving around, gathering ki, punching/kicking until random luck would come up)
- Quick Time Events (this wasn't too bad but it didn't feel right in a DB game let alone Asura's Wrath)
- Random Luck (it's up to the computer to decide who gets to win the battle clash)
- Destroyed Arenas (become repetitive by seeing the same cutscene (destroyed, undestroyed, destroyed, undestroyed...)
- Roster (Although it's a decent amount, they didn't choose them properly)
Just use the good of UT and pretend it never existed.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Actually, against the computer there is a lot less luck involved in winning clashes. Each character favours a different style when controlled by the CPU (Raditz almost always goes for Pursuit chains/defends from Pursuit, so you can fuck him up with Assault, Nappa is the opposite). Some characters like Goku are more balanced and they do deviate from their patterns occasionally (especially if you start exploiting them) but knowing their patterns reduces the luck element a lot.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Ultimate Tenkaichi is not "a rock-paper-scissors game". Luck QTEs are a minimal part of the fight. As Kame Sennin said, "sheer luck is also part of every fight", and in that case, it only decides if you have a head start or a disavantage, making that you have to be prepared for any situation, amplifying the strategic aspect.MasterVampire wrote:You really think that crap rock-papers-sissors game was the best out of this current generation?Cold Skin wrote:Ultimate Tenkaichi was really the best Dragon Ball game on this generation, so I guess it makes sense to want a second one.

Raging Blast 2 or Burst Limit were the best.
The game is more about gauging your actions and your ki depending on what the adversary might try and the amount of risk you're willing to take. It's a constant risk calculation, a strategic battle involving a part of luck for which you should be ready, but ultimately it all depends on the four different ways the situation might turn which you think about as you are fighting. And thinking about the different ways a situation might turn in the next minute is Dragon Ball.
And if it turns out you are combo-ed by the opponent being left with nothing else than watching him beat you up without being able to touch anything to defend yourself, you likely deserved it for not having prepared what it takes to defend yourself, and most of all: you are in the powerless situation and feel the powerless feeling that many characters have felt many times in the series, that's called good immersion into the franchise's universe. How many characters have been taken off guard one second and suffered a 20-hits combo just because they were not prepared for that situation (right now, the image of Gohan being mad at Freezer for empaling Krilin comes to my mind). That's what you need to go through if you were careless like that character at this instant and didn't prepare for the possibility that the opponent might have an opportunity on you at any time.
It also makes special moves devastating again, instead of ridiculously side-stepped like in the Raging Blast and Burst Limit series.
In Ultimate Tenkaichi, you have a real sense of power when unleashing it, a real sense of emergency when it's unleashed on you and you have to choose which amount of damage you're willing to sacrifice to keep some ki or not depending on your analysis of the adversary's potential, and a real sense of being superior when you're calculated your stuff so that the opponent unleashing his attack on you will actually turn back against him.
Raging Blast 2, on the other hand, was one of the most terrible games ever. It's the Super Butoden 3 syndrom.
You may make a game's mechanics as good as you want, if there's no story, there's no point playing random fights, and if there's no point playing, the game is pretty much worth a 0/20.
Kills any sort of immersion when it's just "you're that character, you fight that character with these conditions. Why? Why do you fight? Why are you in that place? Why against this opponent? Just because, deal with it!" Great, I feel totally in-character fighting someone I have no reason to fight in an illogical place with an illogical timeline for no reward (pictures of episodes that you can easily find on the web are no reward)...
In other words, the content "was terrible and shallow" to use your words. We give you characters, stages and a gameplay mechanic with various objectives, and we'll just decide to randomly mix these to entertain you for a hundred hours.
Sure, why don't you just give us various "kill this target" mission in random cities without a context/story in Assassin's Creed while you're at it?
Just make a Resident Evil game fully based on Mercenaries mode too, a full game with no reason, no backstory to have that character in that place fighting those enemies, that should be entertaining too. (oh, wait, they actually did that!)
Just make a FInal Fantasy game fully composed of just random fights on random places, one after another, because in a game, we just fight randomly to fight randomly, that's for sure.
In "video game", there's "video", not just "game", otherwise you can just play Monopoly (and even those kind of games have a scenario to justify what you're doing all along).

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Even knowing that, the game isn't challenging because the same actions are done in every battle which isn't fun to play or even watch.Saiga wrote:Actually, against the computer there is a lot less luck involved in winning clashes. Take a look at this gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCFfCz0rGPg (commences at 08:14).
There wasn't much of gameplay but pressing specific analogue sticks and buttons at the same time to make the character use that attack it was programmed for.
At least in Raging Blast 2 I could control the character to exactly what I wanted to do, however, UT doesn't.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
One thing I find really irritating is how the voices are implemented. The actual voices are good but having them say the same thing over and over again can get annoying fast. I like how Goku said 'Take this!' but hearing it 1000x is too much. I'd prefer hearing less voices and more varied grunts breathes, and the occasional small words.
@dbkaifan A SF style DBZ game would be awesome. That 'gameplay' I just say was really jarring to the hear because of Frieza's 'yaa!'

I voted something new for once. I will be somewhat let down if it is RB3 since it seems like most fans don't want anything new for once.

Gohan's the same, i.e, Stephanie and Colleen.
Although they did it right on RB2 yet they messed up on UT, either keep one or the other, not both!

Also I got to say, it's fun watching people fight over whether or not UT was good or bad while wondering why developers don't listen to fans.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?
