Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Anyways, I think a lot of people will be disappointed with this movie (especially the ones that go on and on about SSJ3 Vegeta and Golden SSJG Goku) because to me it seems like they're expecting hardcore fighting, and only that...something akin to the previous movies. I'm not sure they will like the more light-hearted moments in the movie.

I didn't expect ssjg to have fur, but I did expect him to have blonde hair that was somewhere in between ssj3 and ssj4's styles. (Kind of like what Yamamuro thought up.)

I was very pleasantly surprised by Toriyama's design and am so happy he fought for and got to use that as the final version. I very much enjoy ssjg Goku. X3

This is off the current topic that you guys are talking about but (except you guys and some friends and DBZ-fanartists) most americans and europeans I know or I've seen appear on youtube, facebook, twitter, etc, all still think Vegeta goes SSJ3 and Goku's SSJG is a golden SSJ4. And I've seen some people actually be serious and make topics on a "new series of DBZ".. I'm not sure whether to find this extremely hilarious or worrying.

The casual American DBZ fanbase is at best, fairly unintelligent. They think that FUNi is the only way to go, Goku shouldn't "sound like a girl" as well as treating power levels as some sort of scripture, and believe anything rumor-wise that comes out related to DBZ, such as a "Toriyama creating a new DBZ anime with over 200 episodes confirmed!" It's this kind of stupidity that makes me cringe. Granted, they're not all this bad, but a huge majority of them really are uninformed overall.

Thats quite possible. From what i saw until now there are more persons that wanted that horrible golden ss4 goku than the form he get. They bash it saying "it looks like kaioken" and etc. In my point of view i like it has its similarity with kaioken, after all kaioken was taught to goku by a god. Makes sense to me. But i think some people will change their opinion after watch the movie and love the form. Most of people tend to hate things that came differently than they thought in beginning but then they get used to it and can even became fans of it.

For example: Bills character. Cant count by my fingers how many people hated him in beginning saying things like "ridiculous" "what ?! a rabbit??!" and stuff like that but now I dont feel that much hatred already. Only by the usual haters but thats normal

It's cool that they plan to do screenings soon. If they do a screening somewhere in the east coast like in DC or at Otakon then we should do a Kansenshuu meet up. I remember when Evageeks did some type of meet up during a Evagelion 1.0 screening back in 2009.

Personally I think the red hair was the obvious direction to go in. They had already done blonde (or I guess white initially) in the manga as a way to show transformation and save time on coloring so another color was needed to show a higher tier. Blue, green or purple would have just been odd and brown or black would not have been eye catching, so it makes sense for Toriyama to go about it this way in order to pair it "down to the absolute limit." It's the same reason I think they went with making Goku have red fur in GT for SS4 rather than yellow: in order to try and convey this was the legendary Super Saiyan transformation (see GT Perfect Files for what I am referring to).

Either way I think doing it this way allows for the series to open up more so, as in this form potentially being a base form for additional transformations. As in Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan 3. Just a thought...

I think that would be really cool to have each god like transformation be built on top of and maybe start bulking him up again in order to spar or take on Uis etc if the series (fingers crossed) were to continue from here. The one thing I like is that Goku gets more lean which is more natural for martial artists, but at the same time by the end of the manga he is yolked out of his mind! His neck is the size of most people's thighs! I wanna see that be the end of the transformations. Anyone else?

The only figures I've seen so far are the crane game WCF ones and this one ssjg action figure type thing that I haven't seen a close-up shot of yet.
I'm really hoping that over the summer more figures come out; I'd like to have a nice ssjg Goku and Beerus.
