Goku, Freeza, and Hair loss

Post by Chuquita » Tue Apr 30, 2013 12:13 am

So Ryusei Nakao and Masako Nozawa narrated two hair-restoration commercials as Freeza and Goku.

Very surreal. Especially when they briefly sing together at the end. (Freeza and Goku duet, what?)

Is this a normal thing? Are there other examples out there of companies having their completely-unrelated product pitched by Dragon Ball characters?
On hiatus.

Kodomo Soft eyedrop commercials displayed characters' eyes going super red, and shows how using the eyedrops can prevent this. I believe the eyedrops came with a "Dragon Case" to hold them, as well as a "Sailor Case" when Sailor Moon advertised for the same eyedrops.
So mondo lame.

This...is very odd. Why are Dragon Ball characters, who are from a franchise targeted towards 10 year old boys, be in a commercial aimed towards middle aged men going through hair loss?

Still cool nonetheless.

If you were in elementary school back in the 1980s, then you're at least 35 now. Some people start thinning earlier than others, but most people who are in for serious hair loss have already started by then.

Ah, your right. I didn't really consider that. Still kind of strange nonetheless. I wish there was some animation to go with this. There should have been Gokuu with a receding hair line being taunted by Freeza, since he doesn't even have hair to lose.

Japan has a very sort of verbose, bright and loud way of doing tongue-in-cheek when it comes to product advertisement. I think that things like this are often lost on Westerners as a cultural code of conduct and just tend to appear bizarre and non-sequitur.

Product campaigns happens. Freeza and Son Goku's seiyuus did a good job on the MRP MACH hair loss commercial. I'll laugh if Japan releases more commercials featuring DB Voices (maybe Western Super Bowl ads?)

It's a strange commercial, just like you would expect from Japan, but that is an old joke, and i'm not going to complain about it, because i just loooove japanese commercials. :3
It actually looks kinda slow what they're doing in the commercial here. Are they sort of... planting hair back on the head? It's all sped up though.
What's even stranger is that they took the two most funny sounding japanese voice actors and put them on something like THIS. I still like it.

AND THE DUET IS MUSIC TO MY EARS~
