Vegeta's Galick Gun
Vegeta's Galick Gun
Why does Vegeta use it once in the series and never use it again? I believe semi-perfect cell uses it once as-well. AT forget or?

Probably because it was a Kamehameha rip-off (although I personally liked it more; purple beams FTWIIMaxII wrote:Why does Vegeta use it once in the series and never use it again? I believe semi-perfect cell uses it once as-well. AT forget or?
I don't remember Cell ever using it though, but it makes sense that he'd be able to.
Fun fact: In the Funimation dub, when Super Vegetto fights Buuhan, while Buuhan is using the Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack, the ghosts scream out "Galick Gun!" but they actually do the pose for the Masenko. I believe that's the only other time the attack is mentioned.

Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
That was filler (I'm like 99% sure on that). Vegeta has a habit of ditching attacks for new ones. He rarely uses the same attack more that once. If you want a better answer....the Gyarikku-ho was replaced by the Final Flash.

Vegeta ends up with a bunch of unique attacks, such as the Big Bang Attack, the Final Flash, that attack he used on Nappa, the one he killed Zarbon with, that spam energy bullet thing, the "Fireworks" attack he kills Kui with, and his version of self destruction. Most of these are only used once or twice.
I don't remember Cell ever using it though, but it makes sense that he'd be able to.

Ah, I see. Thanks. Like I said, it makes sense that he'd be able to, although I'm almost certain that this is filler. I always did like the attack though, and wish he would've kept it.IIMaxII wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFkz_WdBFm4Kamiccolo9 wrote:Probably because it was a Kamehameha rip-off (although I personally liked it more; purple beams FTWIIMaxII wrote:Why does Vegeta use it once in the series and never use it again? Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
It's the same with Piccolo's techniques, they just don't re-use them (although Piccolo may have used his Makankosappo against Nappa) in the manga. I have a theory that this is because the techniques just don't scale well and they have to constantly invent better ones as they get stronger. The Kamehameha would seem to be the exception to this... however, Goku's Kamehameha seems to get less and less useful until he is able to take out half of Cell's body with one. Since the title of that chapter is "Kamehameha Full Power" I believe this is actually a new form of the Kamehameha, much like the Super Kamehameha was. It would explain how it suddenly became so deadly.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

He also seems to use it in anime filler against Freeza.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

50 or so seconds in. (sorry, it's the dub)
The hands are wrong, but it does look like the purple beam we know and love.

He uses it against Freeza and then develops a superior attack, the Big Bang Attack.
Vegeta: "Funny... I seem to recall Kakarot being fed the same information right before he transformed; the distinct look on your faces when he went Super Saiyan didn't exactly inspire confidence. One does not predict or calculate power like ours."

Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
Gyarik-ho [Gyarik Cannon]
First Appearance: Chapter 231
Category: ki manipulation
People: Vegeta
Special Characteristics: Vegeta’s version of the Kamehameha. The difference between it and the Kamehameha is the hand position when shooting out the ki. He thrusts out the palms of his hand towards his opponent, and fires it as if pushing out the ki. The ki put out from the two palms then becomes a single powerful current. When Vegeta used this, Goku was able to negate it for the first time ever with a Kaio-Ken x4 Kamehameha. Vegeta’s power at the time was that strong. (Daizenshuu 2, p.211)
So does that make Vegeta's move a copy of the Kamehameha with a different name and hand position.

I don't recall him doing the Galick Gun on Freeza ever. I don't count his all out attack as a Galick Gun. I would need confirmation if it were.TheMightyOzaru wrote:He uses it against Freeza and then develops a superior attack, the Big Bang Attack.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
What I've been wondering is why the Kaiokenx3 Kamehameha wasn't able to overcome the Galick Gun. It was at 24,000 compared to Vegeta's 18,000. The x4 shouldn't have been necessary.

Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
Vegeta's Galick Gun was 24,000. That is why they were even. The amazing thing about ki attacks the characters make during the series is they allow the characters to beat, hold back or kill characters well above their level. For example: Piccolo's Makankosappo against Raditz, Vegeta's Final Flash against Perfect Cell and Tienshinhan's Shin-Kikoho against Semi-Perfect Cell. It seems clear that with techniques such as Kaioken, which boost the individuals power, that scaling value on top of ki attacks like the Kamehameha vanish and are replaced with the current boosted power. So Goku boosting his battle power to 24,000 through Kaioken would yield a Kamehameha of a battle power of 24,000. As opposed to a Kamehameha of 30,000 or higher. But yeah, we see that by using ki attacks it increases the battle power of the user in the attack. This way they can get off more attacks on their level. So back to the original post, its more than likely Vegeta dropped the Gyarik-ho because he went to develop an attack which had a better scalar; e.g. Final Flash.Kamiccolo9 wrote:What I've been wondering is why the Kaiokenx3 Kamehameha wasn't able to overcome the Galick Gun. Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
I agree with almost everything you said, but I was under the impression that it shouldn't apply for the Vegeta at this point. He's not capable of controlling his ki like Goku, Piccolo, and the Earthlings yet.Hitiro wrote:Vegeta's Galick Gun was 24,000. That is why they were even. I have also come to the conclusion that the powerup for ki attacks is additive, rather than multiplicative. I think that this makes more sense than the Kaio-ken cancelling out the Kamehameha's boost.

Re: Vegeta's Galick Gun
If I remember my GT correctly, the Final Shine is performed with one hand, and is green, while the Final Flash is performed with two, and is yellow. So it's not the same attack.seansmith9322 wrote:Kinda off topic but is the Final flash the same as Final shine
