Meter, hell even Raging Blast 2, had a foundation to build off. Even if you don't like the style, both those games offered more refined gameplay compared to their predecessors; seriously go back and try to play the first Sparking game it's sooo bad. The game doesn't need to be a Steet Fighter Clone, but honestly if it's trying to be a fighting game it should at least stick to it's roots. Personally I'm tired of split screen(I can't be the only one); I'm tired of clone characters and I'd like to see a little more depth and creativity in the combo mechanics in general. Hell you could kill two birds with one stone with the last two. No, I don't think you need to do a double quarter circle turn everytime you want to transform but something other than Left+square would be great. I don't think this will alienate lesser fighting fans and it can still leave room for Dragonball's flair.DBZ Mick wrote:
My thoughts exactly. I do think Spike for example in Sparking Meteor/BT3 did go for a bit too much quantity but there was also a large amount of quality I liked- a large variety of stages, characters (even if they did play 75% the same- unique rushes and beam attacks for each character at least), beam vs ball or whatnot struggles, survival missions etc.
I do agree that gameplay should be first and foremost though.

Yet Tenkachi 3 is the higest grossing DBZ game ever and Tenkaichi 4 is the most highly requested.dbboxkaifan wrote:

I want NB to try something new with DBZ but I also understand that they need a big money grab, and Tenkaichi is their money grab.
The gameplay was simple enough for anyone to pick it up and play and everyone's fav character got in because of the huge roster.
A Tenkaichi 4 needs only a couple of things.
- Real story mode from Bardock to DB to GT.
-What if story mode with what if characters
-Hero mode but allow the user to create up to 30 different characters, let them choose the gender and the race. Treevax drew up a great character creator.
- Bigger stages with better effects and make the ultimate threatening like in Budokai 3.
Tenkaichi 4 is a sure fire way to make money. Even an HD collection of Tenkachi 3 at this point would buy them so more time if they needed another year of work.
Then if Spike does fail with Tenkaichi 4 bring in Dimps for Budokai 4.

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
It had some improvements, particularly with the combo system(although they neglected to give the characters proper combo lists), but all in all, It really isn't that refined. While RB2 definitely is a step up from the first installment, which had a few more issues like the infamous camera problems, the game still feels somewhat clunky and not as polished as the sequels of the original Tenkaichi series. It still seems like a rushed, low-budget and unfinished product, lacking the tighter controls and less flimsy movement of the original Spike series.DBZ Mick wrote:Yeah, I wish I had a PS3, I heard Raging Blast 2 was much more refined gameplay wise.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
While most don't seem to care about and just want another Tenkaichi, that's all right I guess, but the franchise really needs a reboot and to start that off, Spike would be off the table in return for a quality developer whom specialises in making fighting games.miguelnuva1 wrote:Yet Tenkachi 3 is the higest grossing DBZ game ever and Tenkaichi 4 is the most highly requested.

Either Namco Bandai doesn't believe Dragon Ball deserves better games or they think all of its fanbase has gotten used to crapware.
Tenkaichi 4 (if most was from T3) would still be better than Raging Blast 1 because that damn camera was freaking annoying as it wouldn't track the opponent.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

Actually you'd be wrong about that one. According to SuperSayianPrime and this thread heremiguelnuva1 wrote:Yet Tenkachi 3 is the higest grossing DBZ game ever and Tenkaichi 4 is the most highly requested.dbboxkaifan wrote:

PS2] Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 (Bandai) - 413,628 / 642,424
[PS2] Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Bandai Namco) - 161,752 / 282,658
This doesn't take into account the Wii numbers for BT3 nor does it take into account the the greatest hits Budokai 3 or the HD collection.

Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
Disappointing how neither hit a million sales, but overall Budokai 3 did better than Tenkaichi 3. So in terms of sales, Budokai 4 could have more chances of happening than Tenkaichi 4, but very unlikely that Dimps would do a fourth one. I'd love if they did B4, though.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Actually you'd be wrong about that one. According to SuperSayianPrime and this thread here

Spike: Content > Gameplay
Dimps: Gameplay > Content
It's noticeable that Dimps took the time with their games to provide a solid fighting game for its customers, let's not forget they're the producers of the Street Fighter series, so that's a huge bonus.
If it doesn't you can always import, if you want.supersaiyan DbZ fan wrote:Hope this is released in south africa

The best from spike killed the best from Budokai 3 I just need the HD collection sales data.

Great to know those numbers are false as I would much rather sleep knowing that Dimps did better than Spike in the long run.

Those figures can't possibly be right. According to the figures in that thread, multiple Greatest Hits DBZ titles didn't even hit the minimum required to become a Greatest Hit. The games sold better than these figures indicate.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Actually you'd be wrong about that one. Re: Bandai planning to "conquer the world"?
It's funny how little people trust VGChartz. It's used as a point of reference and not gospel, VGChartz is usually off with estimates in the first few weeks but they quickly correct themselves over time. I think it's far more indicative than using Japan to prove a point.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:I'm going to need a source and please don't say VGcharts.
The estimates on VGChartz show Tenkaichi 3 and Budokai 3 to be very, very close and I would go by that.
