Yep because talking dogs are totally part of existence and plausible. Dinosaurs being alive is fine too even though they are extinct. Firing ki blasts is also part of basic rules of existence. Lets not forget Goku going into space with the rabbit gang while the rabbit gang can somehow survive on the moon. Or the fact Toriyama says they survived the destruction of the moon by Muten Roshi. Yep that's all fine.Rocketman wrote:None of those things go against the basic rules of existence.dbzfan7 wrote:Flying cars, dinosaurs, talking dog rules the world, the god of destruction is a cat. I did not say "part of", I said "does not go against". There is no law of physics that says "flying cars are impossible".dbzfan7 wrote:Yep because talking dogs are totally part of existence and plausible. Not when the author created the World and it's rules. Real world physics don't always apply. Look at Superman, the theory of relativity is still present in his world yet he can somehow surpass light speed.Rocketman wrote:Statements made directly by the author can be dismissed if they are dumb.
Like "tails are recessive!" or "water is nutritious!".
Vegeta: "Funny... I seem to recall Kakarot being fed the same information right before he transformed; the distinct look on your faces when he went Super Saiyan didn't exactly inspire confidence. One does not predict or calculate power like ours."

Yes because humans and a rabbit surviving in space is realistic. They also survive Muten Roshi's Max Power Kamehameha and drift through space according to Toriyama.Rocketman wrote:I did not say "part of", I said "does not go against". A japanese children's comic book from 20 years ago not obeying the laws of physics!!?Rocketman wrote:I did not say "part of", I said "does not go against". I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Infinite energy still counts. And idk much about physics but I don't think going MFTL/teleporting goes with the laws of physics either.

Humans growing arms out of their backs doesn't sound normal either.

Or a humanoid having an axe shatter on his face and walking away with only a couple bumps and bruises. Lol. Pretty much nothing in DB would work in the real world.
Re: Is Master Roshi's moon-busting feat an outlier?
There are many amphibians which can re-grow limbs. Why not grow extra limbs in humans? There may be some gene sequence tucked away in our genetic make-up that allows us to have the same ability as those amphibians.Mjb1985 wrote:Humans growing arms out of their backs doesn't sound normal either.
Why is it impossible? Providing ki is an energy which could strengthen the bonds of atoms in a humans body this would be entirely possible. Diamond is a hard material because of hits strong force of attraction between its atoms.Mjb1985 wrote:Or a humanoid having an axe shatter on his face and walking away with only a couple bumps and bruises. Re: Is Master Roshi's moon-busting feat an outlier?
There's a difference between regrowing a missing limb that was supposed to be there and sprouting them out randomly. Also no one's addressed the infinite energy/MFTL/teleportation.Hitiro wrote:There are many amphibians which can re-grow limbs. Why not grow extra limbs in humans? Well, the laws of physics--our universe's laws of physics, that is--tell us that energy can't be created or destroyed. Technically, they don't say that there can't be another realm/dimension/universe that contains an infinite amount of energy to begin with. If such a place did exist, Gero could build a reactor that siphons energy from it without violating any law of physics.Draken wrote:Infinite energy still counts.
Similar to the above, there's actually no law of physics that says an object can't go faster than light. What they do say is that no object with mass can accelerate to the speed of light. What this means is that, theoretically, at least, faster than light travel may be possible if you can do it without accelerating. This leads to ideas such as the Alcubierre drive, which would allow a ship to travel faster than light be warping the space around the ship just right--in a way, space itself would "move" and the ship would simply be along for the ride. Teleportation could also be possible by folding space to make two distant points temporarily meet. And idk much about physics but I don't think going MFTL/teleporting goes with the laws of physics either.
While both of these space-warping theories would require a lot of energy and things such as exotic matter, the currently understood laws of physics don't disallow them--and that's in our universe. In a fictional universe with its own laws, it's not much of a stretch at all.

Re: Is Master Roshi's moon-busting feat an outlier?
We're saying the laws of physics don't really apply in DBZ, so your last line helps our argument. There's no need to get all sciency and stuff on blowing up the moon or whatever the shit happens because it's DBZ, anything goes if AT wants it to, he's not gonna bother with physics. Whis and Beers definitely have mass and they definitely had to accelerate (unless they're just randomly the only ones in DBZ who start at max speed and stay at max speed), so laws of physics broken dere.Bussani wrote:Well, the laws of physics--our universe's laws of physics, that is--tell us that energy can't be created or destroyed. Our laws of physics, perhaps. Of course, even if such laws did exist in the Dragon Ball universe, I could just assume they used their power to warp spacetime in order to fly that fast.Whis and Beers definitely have mass and they definitely had to accelerate (unless they're just randomly the only ones in DBZ who start at max speed and stay at max speed), so laws of physics broken dere.
