I understand where your coming from, I've been holding off on getting any of the other DBOX's until I had the chance to get Vol 2 as well, so I know the exact feeling.CaBrPi wrote:Thanks. I've held off on getting any Dragon Boxes, specifically because of the scarcity of volume 2. I'd go crazy having one missing.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
I don't think they care about the scalpers' prices for the Dragon Boxes, rather they would go by either the MSRP or their own prices. I've said it before and I'll say it again, just because there are people greedy enough to demand hundreds for a single box does not entitle people to actually get that much. I don't think you would ever see Amazon itself selling Dragon Box 2 for $699.99 when the list price is clearly listed at $64.95. I would also hope people wouldn't be so foolish to enable the scalpers, no matter how much they may want the set. If people don't buy products at such ridiculously inflated prices they'll have no choice but to ask for more reasonable prices if they want to make a sale.dbboxkaifan wrote:Amazon.ca & Amazon.com ($1.50) could be making money off customer's trade-in of Dragon Box 2 if they actually gave a decent store credit.
Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
I ordered DBox 2 and 4 on 27 April, so hopefully I didn't miss this opportunity. I also wanted to hold off until I got DBox 2 as I'm such a completionist and it would pain me to see 6 DBoxes on my shelf and then having to fill the gap with the orange bricks. If this order comes through then I may order DBox 1 from amazon.ca as I haven't seen the price any lower.

I think everyone that ordered DBOX vol 2 from Amazon.ca is hoping that they didn't miss what could possibly be their last chance to own DBOX vol 2 at a reasonable price for a LONG time, best of luck in getting your set.SSJJezter wrote:I ordered DBox 2 and 4 on 27 April, so hopefully I didn't miss this opportunity.
It seems quite a few really smart minds were thinking alike when it came to their planning on how they wanted to go about getting the DBOX sets.SSJJezter wrote:I also wanted to hold off until I got DBox 2 as I'm such a completionist and it would pain me to see 6 DBoxes on my shelf and then having to fill the gap with the orange bricks.
I'll probably stick with ebay for the other sets since at least right now they're slightly more reasonably priced than vol 2 is.SSJJezter wrote:If this order comes through then I may order DBox 1 from amazon.ca as I haven't seen the price any lower.

Yeah, if this doesn't go through, I'd rather wait and see what the next major release is like. If they continue with the Blu-ray level sets, with at least similar remaster quality, I'd rather have those for myself.
Though, to be honest, I'd rather have DVDs for now, since I like to watch stuff with my friends, and very few of my friends have a way to watch Blu-rays. I elected to buy a PS3 over the Xbox 360, so I have a Blu-ray player, but... Yeah. There's also an anime club at the public library in my hometown that meets on Saturdays once a month, and they also lack a Blu-ray player.

Nowadays, basic Blurays players are cheap. They cost pretty much the same as DVD players or, if they cost more, they don't cost that much more (and they can also play DVDs, so nothing is lost).
I see no reason for not having one. HD films are beautiful, and there are lots of bluray films and series today that are also cheap.

Wow, I didn't know that. I just might as well buy a Blu-ray player now.rereboy wrote:and they can also play DVDs, so nothing is lost).

In UK, US and other countries who support Blu-ray over DVD it's worth it but last time I was in Portugal a DVD cost more than the Blu-ray edition and that was ridiculous.rereboy wrote:Nowadays, basic Blurays players are cheap. There's always the possibility of importing, Amazon.co.uk only charges £1.26 shipping for UK/Europe so other Europeans can purchase the BDs, if the seller ships internationally.
I hope that the "Blu-rays don't scratch" bullshit which is around the internet phases out because it isn't true, it's a disc like any other but it's slightly harder to scratch, but in the end it still gets damaged if treated unfairly.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
Well, yeah, but I'm not gonna be an asshole and force everyone else to buy Blu-ray players if they don't want to. As it happens, the public library in my hometown has lost A LOT of funding over the past few years (I won't get into a political debate here, I won't get into a political debate here, I won't get into a political debate here as much as I want to blame it on the Republicans), so they probably literally can't justify sparing the $30 for something they legitimately don't need when they can barely buy new books as it is.rereboy wrote:Nowadays, basic Blurays players are cheap. The point is, I'd like the Blu-rays for my own personal viewing pleasure, but I'd also like the Dragon Boxes to watch with friends who don't have Blu-ray players.

Anything can be destroyed but its true that the Bluray disc are, by nature, much more resistant than DVDs.dbboxkaifan wrote:

And yes, in Portugal everything entertainment-related costs way too much compared to other countries like the UK.

Which is probably why I'll be getting the Double Features instead of the movie packs.rereboy wrote:Anything can be destroyed but its true that the Bluray disc are, by nature, much more resistant than DVDs.dbboxkaifan wrote:

You could wait until FUNimation's 2013 Announcement (Otakon 13?) and be sure what they'd announce
For me, I don't care whether it's a CD, DVD, HD-DVD or Blu-ray because I carefully hold and place each disc so that none get scratched.

Blurays are also supposed to have a much longer longevity than DVDs, not just more resistance.dbboxkaifan wrote:You could wait until FUNimation's 2013 Announcement (Otakon 13?) and be sure what they'd announce

A little info on the matter:
in http://superuser.com/questions/251369/w ... -ray-discs"DVD
According to the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA), "manufacturers claim life spans ranging from 30 to 100 years for DVD, DVD-R and DVD+R discs and up to 30 years for DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM".✝
Blu-ray
The recordable media used in red laser disc technology like DVD's and CD's is an organic dye that is very sensitive to light. Blu-ray disks, however, use a combination of silicon and copper which is bonded during the burning process, this alloy is much more resilient than the organic dye. Manufacturers claim a life span from 100 up to 150 years for Blu-ray disks.✝
✝ = However, these media don't exist long enough yet to confirm or reject those claims. So at the moment, it's "about as long as the oldest working DVD/BD is still working". These claims are made assuming the disks are stored properly. (Not too hot, dark, not too humid, etc.) Furthermore, these life spans will be averages, I've used DVD disks that stopped working or showed data corruption after 2 years."

Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
I received my Dragon Box Z Vol. 3 today. Photos:
However, for £22.99 it seemed like a good deal, and overall it was as I'll be swapping the discs and then re-sell this Dragon Box 3 with the light scratched discs I have. CeX would've charged me £12 to resurface (clean all scratches from the discs) so I just paid for this £10.99 more, not really that much more.
1) It's discoloured because it had some sticky plastic on it.

2) This could've been avoided if the seller used appropriate packaging envelope.

3) FUNimation's packaging of using these cheap plastic disc holders was never a good idea. There's better packaging.

I'm most likely never going to be using their services (Cymods) again because this is at best, acceptable condition. The discs at least and the Dragon Book came in perfect condition without any scratches or damage.

All you need to do is log into your account on Amazon.ca and check your orders. There should then be a tab to request a return or exchange. It will lead you to a page asking the reason you wish to return the product and whether you would like to return it for a refund or exchange it. After that, it will provide you with a return label you will need to print out and affix to the package. You will also notice an order placed for the replacement. You will not be charged for the replacement provided you return the defective set by the date provided.
Returns Policy
You may return any of the following items to Amazon.ca, for any reason, for a full refund (we'll also refund the return shipping cost, if the return is a result of our error) within 30 days of delivery of your shipment (including gifts):
Any book in its original condition
Any unopened (still in its plastic wrap) CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, or video game
You may return eligible baby items to Amazon.ca, for any reason, for a full refund (we'll also refund the return shipping cost, if the return is a result of our error) within 45 days of delivery of your shipment (including gifts). Also, most health and personal care items can be returned within 60 days of delivery (subject to the exclusions below).
Please note that we cannot accept the return of opened items, some health and personal care items, or items returned more than 30 days past delivery (45 days for eligible baby items and 60 days for eligible health and personal care items). We can only process returns and refunds for items purchased at Amazon.ca.
If you ordered your item from an Amazon Marketplace seller, please see our Marketplace returns policy for more information about returning your order.

Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
The operative word there is "returns" as that would be a straight return the item for a refund. Trust me, I have exchanged a DVD set with Amazon.ca with absolutely no problems.
It's as simple as going to the returns centre, giving the reason for the return ("scratched disc") and requesting an exchange. Amazon.ca currently has only one copy of Dragon Box 4 in stock so if you want to exchange it, you would need to do so now. It's a painless procedure, just print out a return label, package the damaged set and send it off while Amazon.ca will promptly send the replacement to you.Replacement of Damaged or Defective Items
If you received a defective item that is sold by Amazon.ca and need to replace it with the same item, visit our online Returns Centre to request a replacement. Items that are fulfilled by Amazon.ca can't be replaced, but may be returned.
Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
Hey, IIMaxII, wasn't your copy of Dragon Box 2 supposed to have been shipped May 9st? So...obvious question: did it happen?

Re: Dragon Boxes coming in, will keep up to date...
I too am curious about whether or not IIMaxII's DBOX vol 2 has been shipped yet, my copies are estimated to be shipped sometime between May 21 - 29 (hopefully Amazon.ca will ship them sooner), on a side not I managed to score a sealed DBOX vol 1 off of ebay today for $85.74, now all I need is another DBOX vol 1 and I can "hopefully" consider the two biggest obstacles in the collection out of the way so I can finally start focusing on getting boxes 3-7.Bagginses wrote:Hey, IIMaxII, wasn't your copy of Dragon Box 2 supposed to have been shipped May 9st? But why are you purchasing two copies of each?
Are you going to do that for the rest of the boxes as well?
