Beautiful!!!
Can you show us some pictures of the inside of the book itself?
Also, is it Toriyama only? Are all the color pages there (if so, what's their size)? What's the new stuff?

We'll, of course, have all the requisite coverage the day of release (which is tomorrow, the 9th). We can at least toss a few thoughts and key facts up here in the discussion thread as we work on the main pages for the two books in our "Databook Guide" (which I think I need to remind people that we do have!).

This looks like it'll be an awesome book to own. I'm really happy that Goku image is only the case. Saturday and Sunday are Member Appreciation Days at Kinokuniya, so anyone who can make it to New York this weekend, you can get 20% off anything in the store!
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

I really hope they fix up the D7 instead of copy pasting it in this book. Perhaps we'll get Battle of Gods info that sorts other things out.

*Stares at Toriyama's ssjg Goku drawing*. Cuuuute. X3

I do find it funny how ssjg Goku is perpetually frowny-faced in a lot of the art though. XD It's one of the least-threatening :< faces too; though I suppose that's part of the charm of the form's surprise aesthetics. :3
The only one I think I've seen him smiling in so far was one of the DBH cards' art.

Also amusing is how if you scroll down and compare it to the ssj1 Goku from the OPxDB ticket, the arms are almost the same thickness due to Toriyama's current art-style.
On hiatus.

Well, there's Toriyama's SSJGod! Nice! Even his Hoko x Tate illustration is included! Wow!!! Yeah, I'm getting this.

The BoG designs are there... I wonder if the art for the VJump poster is as well?

I like the illustration at the beginning of Toriyama... funny how he draws himself in the Goku gi these days!

I see Tankoubon covers... no photos of the Kanzenban covers, but it seems likely that they'd be included. It'd be cool if the 2 new spine art sets are too. There's a clip of the color comics pages in that "1984" page -- I wonder if they are left out. If I recall they weren't in the 1st Daizenshuu....or they were really tiny? Maybe that was Daizenshuu 2...

I have both of the books right now. They are things of beauty.

If I had to nitpick the Super Art Collection (that's what it's called inside the book), it's that some things are printed smaller than they were in Daizenshuu 1. Then again, other things appear to be larger than before, so... I don't know. I'm pretty sure it includes pretty much all the images that were left out the last time around, though. The only things I don't think I saw are some of the early-early promotional art, like in the Jump issue just before the series premiered. I think this is pretty much a definite buy for anybody who wants an artbook of the series, as long as money is no object; the presentation is top-notch. The book also includes a reprint of the Daizenshuu 1 interview ("Akira Toriyama Super Interview: Reprinted Edition"), plus a brand-new one ("Akira Toriyama Super Interview: Latest Edition").

The Super Encyclopedia, while containing what was in Daizenshuu 7 (minus the stuff that's now in the Super Art Collection, above, and plus new stuff from the past 17 years),has been mostly re-set in a new layout; only 30 pages out of 352 are straight-up reproductions of the originals. There's also an essay by Masako Nozawa and an interview with Akira Toriyama, looking back on the series.

More later. Gotta lug these things home.

Can't wait to find out what's in them. But I am keeping my expectations low as I don't think they will change errors in the D7 or update older material.

Hmm... well, it appears Bra's birthdate is correct in the timeline (Age 780), but remains incorrect in her biography (Age 778). Need to sit down and really look through the book before I can say anything else.

The covers themselves I don't know, but the artwork surely is. By the way, look at the summary (first photo) and see that 2003 has over thirty pages!

Also love the fact that they're even including the diorama illustrations :D

EDIT: Found another.

It all seems outrageously magnificent! 8)
If only importing was something easy where you just had to pay and be delivered, I would probably give in to the temptation of buying it. (despite the fact that I wouldn't be able to make proper scans of it to toy with it on my computer - plus the only way to make proper scans is to tear apart the pages to have them flat-flat, and my heart could NEVER allow me to do that to such a breathtaking book!!).
It looks like Daizenshu 1 times 20!

Both those dates were how they were originally, right?

So the artbook really is all Toriyama! Hooray! Is it a hardcover? In some of the pictures it looks like it is, but in some it looks like it isn't.

Man, they were really thorough. All of the Dragon Box promotional images, the Kanzenban covers (front and back!), and even his "hang in there!" pictures from the earthquake!

I'm still on the fence about purchasing the Chozenshu, but I'm sold on this one.
