I'm amazed at how close their projection was to reality. Maybe this is to be expected but color me impressed. With crayons. Specifically a crayon labeled "impressed" next to "awed" and "violet surprise."

You folks do realize that the movie is still in most theaters until at least Friday, right? There's still a little time left in the theatrical run.

Why would anyone here know that as if it were common sense? Not many folks here understand how Japanese thaters do things.

Guys... If you could read french, then you would have understood that they clearly say that it's certainly a ghost page...
The "ghost page" as you call it (blank page) was hardly the subjet of their post. The title says it all: they're speculating if the site might've been made in regards to a new Dragonball movie production. Don't tell me that "un nouveau film dragonball?" means anything else than "A new Dragonball movie?" Sure, they did note that they're speculating, but don't come here and say I don't understand french.

Now, back to topic: I sure hope Battle of Gods can make those 3 billions in the remaining week...

Just wondering, was there any update on the guy who apparently got arrested for cosplaying as Bills from the movie? I remember seeing it on this thread.

yeah it decreased. Even though new merchandising is coming regularly, the series already ended long ago.
Even if we want or not to be like that, its the truth.

The reason why toei set up a big goal is because we all know dragon ball is special. Anyway I dont think the most hardcore fanbase can be found in Japan :P

Yeah, it's been a 17 years since the last canonical release. I can completly understand why it decreased. I guess Japanese people are more into Pirates now :P (One Piece).

Here's hoping the last couple of days gives them a boost. Even if they don't hit the 3 billion goal though, they'd still be pretty happy with the sales I would think, right? I'm assuming this would still make the movie pretty successful in it's own right, wouldn't it?

Would maybe decrease the chances of any possible followups to the movie though =/.

Can they reach 30 million in just two days? I don't know how busy theaters are in Japan during the week days, but as someone who worked at a AMC theater for two years (2010 - 2012) that week days are dead days for movie theaters unless it's during a holiday.

"A few theaters appear to be playing the movie up through this coming Friday (10 May 2013), and others — such as Namba Parks Cinema in Osaka — even up through the following Friday (17 May 2013) at the very least. Most Toho Cinemas locations plan on wrapping up their screenings of the film on either this coming Sunday (12 May 2013) or the following Friday (17 May 2013)"

I doubt these remaining screenings will be enough to earn Toei that remaining 124 million yen they're hoping for, but I would imagine the film was still quite profitable for the studio. As others have said, it likely made back its production budget a while ago, and international screenings will only add to the profits. Even if the domestic total remains just a few hairs shy of their three billion goal by the time screenings completely end, I'd say what they've earned so far is more than enough for Toei to at least strongly consider keeping the franchise alive with similar productions.

Keep it alive and maybe do another one? Sure. My concern is that since it didn't meet their expectations, the next one will have a lower budget / lower expectations / play it safe(r).

To me, that seems so close that it's no big deal. I'm not sure why so many people are disappointed it didn't quite make it, the movie still did really well.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Anyone agree that if this was a worldwide screening, they would've reached that goal in a few days time? I believe (not sure though) that most hardcore fans aren't to be found in Japan. And, as much as I dislike this fact, due to DragonBall Z Kai, DBZ gained popularity with a lot of young ones in western countries. I mean young as in people who were too little to have watched DBZ back in the actual DB/DBZ days.

What's wrong with Kai. The English version is miles beyond the z dub.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
