I'm glad they were smart enough to make Gohan transform into a Super Saiyan for the ritual!
It would have killed the scene's beauty otherwise - which is a celebration of the Saiyans' ability to transform, in order to bring forth the ultimate Saiyan transformation.
Plus it is meant to add impact to the surprise of the unrelated-to-gold Super Saiyan God appearance when it's finally done, as something truly superior and in "another realm" than the usual Saiyan powers.

Really, just picture the ritual with suddenly a Saiyan on screen who is not transformed, a "hole in the gold".
It's alright for Videl as she is a "trick" used to make it work, but it wouldn't be alright at all to have all main able-to-transform warriors so far reunited and one of them doesn't even join the transformation gold-fest!
It would kill all the symbolism and beauty of the "ultimate transformation" ritual/celebration...

Luckily, the staff knows what they're doing to magnify the experience!

You know I think it's just a mistake. See when Boo gets tossed by Beerus and Gohan powers up and rushes him his whole body lights up like when he goes Super Saiyan and looks like the original ad and that they just changed his coloring. It is highly suspect to me that when they got called out by that kid on twitter their excuse was ..."uh well we don't communicate with our advertising department"

more likely than not they screwed up and went back in and changed all the coloring that they could (hence why they were concerned about still getting it released on time) which would explain why all pre-production (and necessarily approved) ad campaigns that were already released could not be undone and after their lame excuse we still have low and behold and incorrectly colored Gohan.

BUT like Bob Ross says "it's a happy mistake" and I agree it looks better for it...but I call BS on the whole ad thing and it being intentional. They screwed up.

yeah I think its everything. I just dont agree with the first one.

Remember when Piccolo was fighting 17, and he was superior to him, but only slightly? Well, 17 is stronger than Freeza. Also, Piccolo gets another power boost after the ROSAT.

Gohan in base is above Super Boo(since the Ultimate power up is all his power and beyond unleashed in base) , Piccolo ain't close to that. Also Goku is even more powerful in base as even in base he could fight Birus even though he was helpless as an SSJ3 beforehand.

Any clue as to if/when they'll be publishing animanga for BOG? As far as I know, OPZ's came out around the same time the movie came out in theaters. Is Toei going to wait until closer to the dvd/blu-ray release with BOG or will there just not be an animanga? I can't imagine they won't eventually come out with one.

Just looking for something to tide me over until that dvd/blu-ray release. >_>

I mean I do believe a ssj goku in Buu arc is stronger than Piccolo, but I still think Piccolo would be stronger while Goku is in his base. You have to remember that ssj gives them (don't quote me) a x16 power increase so they get an outstanding boost going into that form.

Read the Battle of Gods synopsis, you will then understand why after Goku gets the God form, his base strength shoots up ridiculously to the point its the highest base Saiyan strength ever.

Haha I don't think I ever could "prove" that, but it just seems to be a more plausible explanation than "We did it right we kept Gohan having black hair pursuant to the manga and the ads are wrong because we don't talk to our ad department, no sir, no communication there...all the wasted hours of our ad department doing ads we never approved of including countless posters and other promotional material that money was poured into well yes that is just how you do business of course ...What about the blonde Super Saiyan Gohan that is still in the movie you ask? Well uhh...ahem...the blonde hair well that does not need explanation that was on purpose too because of uhhh... " lol

So in your opinion what is more likely? Do you think they goofed and went back and fixed it for the entire movie? OR just that they goofed on Gohan having blonde hair in that one instance when they turn Goku Super Saiyan God?

For people who are interested to know the rates from the different groups of age who already watched the movie:
I always have my own rates and dont rely on others, people have different opinions in the end. But a friend of mine showed me this and I couldnt ignore.

Cant deny that looking to this graph makes me happy. Despite reaching its goal or not, overall opinion makes these movie worth to be made. And in japan is not even where the most hardcore fanbase is in my opinion. Success!

Or It was done on purpose. They could've shown Gohan as a Super Saiyan in the trailer mainly because Super Saiyan is one of DBZ's most iconic images, knowing that is day and that it can easily be fixed for the final product, unlike the opening to one of the video games where Gohan's hair was changed to yellow rather poorly. And Wantanbe's comment on Twitter, he could have been just saying something to get that fan off his back.

Can I prove this anymore or less than yours? No. This just seems like a more plausible explanation to me. Also I agree with Cold Skin, It would have really weird not to have Gohan Super Saiyan at that point. It also tells me that Toei (and possibly Toriyama as well) are under the assumption that even with his Ultimate Power, Gohan can still turn Super Saiyan (not talking about power just the fact that he can).

The "he can turn Super Saiyan" portion would make the most sense to me, if it is indeed intentional. I was under the impression that Gohan no longer could turn "blonde" form of Super Saiyan but could unlock that power after Elder Kai. Now my info for that does NOT come from manga or anime, as neither source ever says that Gohan no longer is able to go into the golden blonde hair Super Saiyan merely that it is unnecessary. But I have read in many places (maybe even fans on this website) say that the Daizenshuus say Gohan lacks the power once he powered up. I own Chozenshuu 1 and don't speak Japanese so it's just pretty pics for me lol so if fans who can read japanese know better then that'd be helpful info but I just have no idea and am inclined to agree that Gohan can still turn blonde becuase I have not read an official source say that he cannot.

To me Gohan still can turn into the golden haired form because the manga never said he could not only that if he powered up like that he would unlock his power and the transformation was "unnecessary" not that it was now impossible. My understanding of Dragon Ball has always been this: if they say "that blast will destroy the planet" all that means is it will blow up the planet, not that blowing up the planet is the max it is capable of...so saying Gohan can power up without transforming only means he can do that, not that he no longer can do the physical transformation where he goes blonde hair and green eyes.

However, I could be wrong as I cannot read Japanese and I am basing my info off of Viz Manga and Funimation subtitles.
