I have a feeling Amazon's gonna have their hands full if orders aren't being fulfilled, here's a question that I think needs answered, has "ANYONE" that ordered Vol 2 when the Amazon.ca listing first came to light actually received their orders? If not, then I have a feeling things are about to get very ugly for Amazon.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

I wonder why they are still letting people add it to their carts.

Who knows what Amazon.ca is thinking by still letting people add it to their carts when it's out of stock, as for the people who ordered before they put the item as out of stock maybe Amazon.ca is trying to negotiate with FUNimation to do a final batch of vol 2's for the people who've ordered before they put vol 2 as out of stock and when those orders are fulfilled the printing stops for good, not likely I know but not impossible.

That simply wouldn't happen. Dragon Box 2 has been out of print for some time now and it would cost FUNimation more ro produce a small number of sets than they could expect to receive a return on. Seriously, people should not have expected a "too good to be true" situation to actually be true. It's disappointing, sure, but when people know a particular product has been out of print and unavailable anywhere else and even the listing indicates they do not have the product on hand, common sense should deduce that it is extremely unlikely the order will be fulfilled.

It happens. When the last Harry Potter Ultimate Edition set was released, Amazon.ca was unable to fulfill the orders even though it was a newly released product.

Here's the thing you're forgetting, Amazon.ca's listing didn't have any indication that they did not have the product on hand until either late yesterday or today (I've been keeping tabs on the listing and my order since May 3rd and their Temporarily out of stock message has only been up since either late last night or today.) so for the people who've ordered before the Temporarily out of stock message went up, we had every reason and right to believe that they had the product on hand so that argument up till that point is pretty much null and void.

Even before that, it had "Usually ships in 1 to 3 weeks" like Dragon Box 6. If they had the product on hand, it would have said "In stock" like it does for Dragon Box 7. There is no reason to believe that there would be such a delay if they physically had copies of Dragon Box 2 ready and waiting for shipment. Again, I should point out that when the Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Ultimate Edition came out, it had a listing on Amazon.ca which, upon the release date, had a similar "Usually ships in 1 to 3 weeks" status and there was still the option to order, but they were unable to acquire the product so they had no choice but to cancel the order. I had every right to believe I would receive the set when I pre-ordered it, but the reality is they weren't able to get it. The same, unfortunately, appears to have happened with Dragon Box 2.

I'm sorry, but there was no guarantee that they would have been able to get copies of Dragon Box 2 so long after other sources had dried up. The best thing to do is prepare to receive the cancellation notice and hopefully be pleasantly surprised if they actually manage to find some. Even if Amazon had an "In stock" status to begin with, they may have had more orders than they had units to ship and, for all we know, the stock listed on their site may not be updated until product is shipped.

Ok you have a point, there should be no reason Amazon.ca has such a delay.

Ok fair enough, though in Amazon's defense (at least for me) I'm still in my 3rd week of waiting, and thus far I have yet to receive any emails saying that my shipping estimates have been changed, nor have I received any emails saying that my order has been canceled (this of course can change at any moment but for the time being I'm still hopeful.)

That's a problem I think Amazon needs to address, what they should be doing is checking to see how much stock they actually have, and then start updating their stock system in real time so that when someone orders something they automatically subtract that item from the stock, so when they do run out, people will know when an item actually is out of stock.

Everyone who thinks Amazon will have their hands full if they don't fufil your order, remember it's Dragon Ball, anime is more popular nowadays but there still isn't a large enough fan base to worry them. That said I still think there is a good chance you'll all get one, I'd give it at least another month before you start to worry there can be all sorts of delays in them recieving a large quantity.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

Delaying orders is one thing, if the delivery of an item has to be delayed a little, that's not too much of a problem, if they're canceling orders on the other hand, that is a completely different matter, I can't speak for everyone but I'm willing to wait until either my order is fulfilled or they have to cancel it (I really hope they don't have to though), and if my order has to be canceled, I'll just move on and keep looking, though I know other people will probably give Amazon hell for it if their orders have to be canceled.

31 May isn't too far away so if their estimate is right they'll dispatch it by then, or later.
Shipping estimate: May 31 2013 - Jun 14 2013
I'm not really expecting this to work out, it was mainly as a test to see if they had it in stock.

Dragonbox 2 was supposed to be here May 9th for me. I am rather close to Canada, but still outside of country...so it should have definitely been here by now. :P

Ok let me try to be a bit more specific since I wasn't exactly clear, did Amazon mark your order as shipped on the site? If they did then your item could be stuck in customs if not then we have a problem.

Perhaps it's somewhere lost in Canada's Amazon warehouse and they can't find it (lol), or just maybe they don't really have it.

So I emailed Amazon.ca earlier today to ask them what the deal is with Dragon Box 2, especially since the expected ship date for my box came and went without any word. Here's what I sent them:

DragonBall Z: Dragon Box 2 (ep.43-84)
Comments:Hello! I ordered my Dragon Box 2 a while back and the estimated ship date was May 21. Well, the 21 came and went and I didn't even get so much as an email telling me if Amazon.ca even has the item. I understand that Amazon.ca is trying very hard to fulfill several orders of Dragon Box 2, but at this point I'm getting a little impatient. I'm tempted to cancel the order at this point, but I may never find a price this good for Dragon Box 2 again. Please, could you at least tell me SOMETHING pertaining to this order? Like if any other customer's Dragon Box 2 order has shipped? I don't need specifics, just confirmation as to whether orders are being fulfilled or not. If I don't find out something soon I will be extremely disappointed. Thank you for your time.

Here's the reply:

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.ca.

We are very sorry for the delay in completing your order.

Sometimes unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our original availability estimate. We have learned that "DragonBall Z: Dragon Box 2 (ep.43-84)" is now back-ordered, and our supplier is not able to tell us exactly when they expect to have more in stock. I apologize that you were not notified sooner of this change.

The availability for this item is "Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available."

As you are aware, when an item is listed as "Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available" this means it's an item that is not ordered frequently--so we can't predict exactly how long it will take us to obtain it or when we will be able to ship it to you.

We contacted the supplier for more information on the availability. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information from our suppliers.

For more information about our availability estimates, please visit our Help pages:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/help/customer/d ... eId=918682

However, I can assure you that we are working hard to obtain this item for you and we will ship it as soon as we are able to obtain it. This means that we will ship the item as soon as we receive it from our suppliers.

I'm sorry that you were not notified sooner of this change in availability.

The availability listings on our web site are updated frequently to reflect the most up-to-date information for potential orders.

Therefore, the web site availability for an item will change when an order has been placed for the last copy we either have in inventory or have available from our supplier.

We will ship the item as soon as we are able to obtain it.

You won't be charged until we ship it to you. On the date of shipment, we'll send you an e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

If you'd rather cancel your order, I understand. To cancel your order, go to the URL below, sign in and click the "Need to cancel an item?" button:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/css/summary/ed ... 72-4413056

In addition to a wide selection of items, one of our aims at Amazon.ca is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have not met that standard. I hope that you will give us another opportunity to prove the quality of our service to you.

Again, we are very sorry for this inconvenience. We appreciate your business and hope that we will see you again soon at Amazon.ca.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.ca.
