Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Even assuming Anime Gohan + Nerfed Dabura ("Gohan was a SS and only as strong as Cell Games Goku") + 90% power drain (the shittiest plot device yet), this is ridiculous.

Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Does anyone else love the fact that he is slower and weaker but somehow still tough? Or is that just me?

That's a problem with the English translation.DNA wrote:Does anyone else love the fact that he is slower and weaker but somehow still tough? Or is that just me?
The French version says "Mais il est toujours aussi resistant!" It means something more like "But he is still tough!" and not "But he is still as tough!".
(And at least in the Portuguese version I took that "tough" in the sense of defense, like, he is much weaker than before but he still isn't getting down.)

I hope Kaiserneko is reading all these specials. this special alone provides years of materials to make fun of.

It took me three viewings to realize that the last panel depicts Gohan tripping Dabra up.

In the comic, or this special? Either way, yeah, I know. I mean even before that energy drain, this Gohan showed feats that put him on a level above Buu Saga Piccolo.

This Gohan is around half power Future Cyborgs at best since F.Gohan said he got stronger since last time (which was fighting a 17 using less than half power).RandomGuy96 wrote:In the comic, or this special? Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
In the manga, yes. In Salagir's world, no. He was able to break Dabura's hold, dodge his blows, dodge his spit (getting Dabura to hit Pui Pui in the process), and shrug off a punch. For him to do any of that he'd have to be massively stronger than Buu Saga Piccolo, who didn't even manage to dodge the spit.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Yeah, and this is Piccolo who trained in the ROSAT and had 7 years afterwards to train (not sure whether he did or not) and started as as strong or possibly stronger then 17 present who is much stronger then the one F. Gohan fought.RandomGuy96 wrote:In the manga, yes. In Salagir's world, no. Toryama said in one of his interviews that Piccolo kept up his training. It's somewhere on this site, if you wanna look for it.dbzfan7 wrote:Yeah, and this is Piccolo who trained in the ROSAT and had 7 years afterwards to train (not sure whether he did or not) and started as as strong or possibly stronger then 17 present who is much stronger then the one F. And just to indulge my curiosity, how strong does one need to be to dodge spit?

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
The circumstances were different. Gohan was already fighting Dabura, so he would have already been in the mindset to avoid whatever Dabura did. Piccolo was just standing there, when the bad guy flew up and spit on him. It doesn't even really look like he tried to dodge it. Also, if there was enough time between Dabura spitting and the spit hitting Piccolo for Kaioshin to warn them about it, then it probably wasn't moving very fast (compared to attacks that Piccolo dodges regularily.)dbzfan7 wrote: If Piccolo couldn't dodge it, then no way F. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Present Gohan fought Dabra after seeing what the spit can do, and still couldn't entirely avoid it from a further distance than F. Gohan did. It is absolute horseshit that F. Gohan did.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Present Gohan was a rusty fighter, whose incompetence was commented on numerous times during the fight. Future Gohan would presumably have much sharper fighting instincts.Saiga wrote:Present Gohan fought Dabra after seeing what the spit can do, and still couldn't entirely avoid it from a further distance than F. Edit:Also, present Gohan was charging directly at Dabura when he got spit on. Future Gohan was in a in position where he could more easily dodge the spit.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Not buying it. Gohan is still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster and stronger than his future self, and he actually knows that the spit should be dodged. Future Gohan has no reason to want to dodge it other than "eww" and that's actually an incredibly stupid reaction to have. To let himself get distracted by dodging spit on the grounds off "gross" against a much stronger opponent is ridiculous. So not only is it bullshit for him to actually be capable of dodging at point blank range, he's an idiot for dodging for such a reason.Kamiccolo9 wrote:Present Gohan was a rusty fighter, whose incompetence was commented on numerous times during the fight. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Not arguing about it being idiotic. However, the point that I was trying to make when I first commented on this topic is that we have no indication that Dabura spits at super speed. Kaioshin has enough time to shout out a warning before the spit actually hits Piccolo and Krillin, so, one would think that these characters, being as fast as they are, would be able to move faster than Kaioshin could talk.Saiga wrote:Not buying it.
