I know they operate on the same channel, but they're technically two separate entities. One doesn't advertise shows for the other, and vice-versa. Not to mention their target audiences are completely different. And with Toonami practically being an anime block, Z Kai would fit on [adult swim] much better than on Cartoon Network.Mewzard wrote:Adult Swim and Cartoon Network share the same channel. Re: Sean Schemmel confirms Buu Saga dubbing in interview
Well, could Kai air on Toonami AND Nicktoons? And the CW?
Re: Sean Schemmel confirms Buu Saga dubbing in interview
I don't think so since they probably made their contracts so it could only be on those two channels, which is pretty rare for an anime series now a days.matt0044 wrote:Well, could Kai air on Toonami AND Nicktoons? And the CW?

Actually, you are right, but for different reasons.
An anime has two sets of TV deal Rights, Cable and Broadcast. Nick owns the Cable rights and Saban/Vortexx the broadcast TV rights.

Now I finally know why Z Kai was on two different channels. I'm surprised they don't try to get more anime onto Vortexx then (Like Pokémon since it's currently only on Cartoon Network).Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Actually, you are right, but for different reasons.

Re: Sean Schemmel confirms Buu Saga dubbing in interview
So, if they wanted Kai on Toonami, they'd have to renegotiate it being on Nicktoons, but they could leave it on the Vortexx? Not that bad a deal (and it makes uncut/edited all the more obvious, lol).Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Actually, you are right, but for different reasons.

Re: Sean Schemmel confirms Buu Saga dubbing in interview
I think Kai should stay on Nicktoons so that more kids will get into the series.

They were able to air the original Naruto on Adult Swim, didn't Disney pick up the series after CN didn't want Shippuden?Fennekin wrote:I know they operate on the same channel, but they're technically two separate entities. I think the same can happen to dragon ball, but Nicktoons did treat dragon ball fairly.
Maybe Disney just picked up shippuden, if that's the case that's fine but I believe Nicktoons just picked up the entire airing rights for db,z,kai,gt and the movies.

To be honest, I actually disliked CKND at first, too. Later on, though, the show really forms into it's own thing. It has a nice little "world" of it's own. With different sects and groups. A pretty cool idea, and I can see why kids loved it back then (I was entering my teen years while it aired...so my age group would have been the "villains". I didn't usually feel all that welcome while watching it, haha).matt0044 wrote:I know, right? How dare they find entertainment from shows you don't like? I think Disney XD only has the rights to Shippuden, which is why the original Naruto is able to air on Toonami.Daimo-Rukiri wrote:They were able to air the original Naruto on Adult Swim,

I think the charm was that it took what kids tended to hate and made epic adventures out of them (sometimes parodying movies like Alien). It was ridiculous yet cool in its own way like Dragon Ball.Big Momma wrote:To be honest, I actually disliked CKND at first, too. Later on, though, the show really forms into it's own thing. I thought the show was creative and was one of the few CN shows from the 2ks that I sort of liked.matt0044 wrote:I think the charm was that it took what kids tended to hate and made epic adventures out of them (sometimes parodying movies like Alien). Nothing new as far as I know.

Nicktoons isn't too bad. I'm more concerned with the OST and how the actors will handle the saga.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I assume they'll handle it like the rest of Kai.dbzfan7 wrote:Nicktoons isn't too bad. I'm more concerned with the OST and how the actors will handle the saga.
