Idainaru Goku Densetsu (PC Engine/Turbo Duo)

Post by JPA82 » Wed Apr 19, 2006 3:04 am

Anyone know where I can find some gameplay vids of this game? I have the game, but I don't own a PC Engine to play it on. I just want to see it action because I here it's one of the better DBZ games out there.

Thanks.

Well, the best I can do is offer some screenshots. Is that okay? I've now got about 20. I don't really know how to play the game, but I know the story is about Great Saiyaman telling a story to Goten.

Oh man, that would be great. Please do. I've seen some screens on it too, but very few. Maybe I'll just break down and buy a Turbo Duo someday, just so I can play this game.

By the way, the OST kicks major ass.

Thanks.

Well, let's see... I stayed up last night kickin' Frieza's ass, and got some lovely shots (okay, maybe like 100). The game actually plays okay, but It's hard to explain.

EDIT: Ooops! The part at the bottom is slightly cropped. Ah well...

Wow man, thanks a lot for those pics. It looks like the game is full of original animation. I really need to play this one. How's the gameplay in your opinion? Can you compare it to an other DBZ game out there? Judging by the bars at the bottom, I'm guessing it's something like Legends. Graphics look really good too.

Unlike traditional beat 'em ups, you don't chain a sequence of buttons together to execute combos. Instead, you hold just one button, and watch a flurry of attacks. You'll be like, "Did I just do that?" It's more of a tactical game; you have to select certain techniques during combat, and then press the associated buttons to perform that move.

The game play is fast 'n' furious, with the main focus filling up some bar. The more hits you land on your opponent, the higher it goes... Until you go into some cut- scene and watch a special attack.

I haven't played anything similar to this, so I think the style is unique. Hurry up and get a PC Engine (or nick one off yer cousin and play it on a big screen- Like I did)!

Erm... I don't have a good camera, just a phone. I guess you won't be able to see what I'm showing this time:

Damn lighting...

In order to escape a special attack, you have to move the bar and match it up with your enemy. Quite fun.

Anyway, I think I'll stick with Budokai 3...

Try e-bay. I got it from a guy in Japan, but I don't even remember the site's name or the address.

I could sell it to you, for like, $1,500 bucks. Interested?

Actually, I turned my drachmas into yen, and mailed them. Risky, but it payed off. It was before the "anthrax era", so regular mail back then was somewhat reliable for these things.

It sounds interessting but I don't know if it will work on a Macintosh. If it does then I would be tempted. But wait $1,500 is about £1000 no? If so that is VERY extreme. How much is this game actualy worth?

Right now? About 5 bucks. :D

Seriously, I've played the game through a PC emulator, and it played like a dream. Never finished it though.

I could make you a copy of the game on a regular CD, and then mail it to you. Unfortunately, I have no idea if it will play (I don't have the emulator anymore to test it).

Ooo, I would have to find out what emulator I need to play it with and then see if it will be compatible on the Mac. I kinda doubt it though but maybe someone on this forum would know for sure.

I just hope that when I do get a chance to play this game, I won't have to be fluent in Japanese to enjoy it.

Which has about as much chance of surfacing as all the Famicom, GameBoy, Super Famicom and Mega Drive games. :P

We still haven't even seen a domestic release to at least the PSOne version of Legends, which probably ain't gonna happen.
