Sorry, but didn't we get confirmation by Treevax that the game WON'T be announced on E3, but will be announced in the Japan Expo, which will take place in July? Doesn't that mean that until then, we won't get ANY new info?

Yes that is correct. The game will be released this year, no doubt about it.

Do you have an official confirmation? No? Then there is doubt about it's release and you don't know if any of this speculation is correct.

Actualy, Treevax heavenly hinted that the game will be out this year, and even Tony Shopinou said something like "We want to gather as much attention as possible(...) Something is coming".
I have 100% sure that we will have the game this year, but we'll see

Oh I don't doubt that's what will happen, but do you really want to be responsible for that spreading as fact like so many things mentioned here seem to end up?:P

And where did you get that information from? I would like to see a link to where Treevax said the game will not show up at E3 because I don't recall ever hearing anything like that.

Pretty sure the game will be announced on E3. They will perhaps release a teaser and a couple of screenshots, as well as the basic info about the game.

The actual gameplay and demo will be probably shown during the Japan Expo in July. I guess this is also when developers will be doing some interviews (like it was the case with Ultimate Tenkaichi).

By the way, some people seemed to speculate that the game may be released in 2014. This is very unlikely. Namco Bandai has to release a Dragon Ball game every year in order to keep the license.

You are welcome to read Trevax's report about his meeting with Namco Bandai. One of the producers confirmed that in fact they have to release a game every year and hinted that Dragon Ball for Kinect was just a placeholder while a more ambitious game had been under development.

I can't remember the last time a Dragon Ball video game was announced at E3, and if they're waiting until Japan Expo the game must be a rather low budget release. Namco Bandai EU shouldn't be teasing a July announcement in April without giving an actual time frame for the announcement.

Maybe the game won't even have a Fall '13 release. Heck, I wouldn't mind waiting until Spring '14 if the game will be good.

Guillaume, Trevax's friend: oui si ils l'annoncent si tard c'est qu'ils se donne à fond pour le jeu de cette année, le marketing sur le jeu sera différend cette année car ils estiment que les jeux DB méritent un grand événement pour bien faire parler de lui!l'e3 n'estpas adapté, il y a trop de jeux attendu cette année pour que dbz trouve sa place et puis il y a en plus la ps4 et la xbox3 présenté à l'e3, ils vaut mieux que ce soit àla japan expo qui est spécialisé dans le manga!

E3's not good for that, there are too many games that people are waiting for this year for dbz to get enough space, and there's even ps4 and xbox3 at E3, it's better that it gets announced at Japan expo that is specialized at manga! I want to precise that this is just my theory, there might be something announced at E3, but I doubt it.

Also what ever does get done I want a good character creator, I want to be able to settle my own Superman vs Goku battle and if Soul Calibur can get a character creator of that depth then DBZ should be able to get close.

Yes Treevax, the French anime convention that won't get much press outside of France is totally a better venue to announce a Dragon Ball game than the event where Namco Bandai flies in global gaming press (Gamer's Day), or that one event where mainstream press are watching (E3).

A Japan Expo announcement would give them about 3-4 months of potential promotion, which is usually what they give for handheld games or something. You know, low budget releases.

Seeing Treevax's incomplete costume list made me think that the least they should finally do is have at least every single costume that appeared in the manga (on DLC if they can't make it for the game release).
Then, if they can do more, they might add those appearing in fillers, illustrations, etc, but that's optionnal. But the basic thing would be to have a maximum amount of costumes that are canon to the story regardless of what media you choose (meaning all costumes that were in the manga - since costumes that are part of the manga are necessarily part of the anime too but not the other way around).

BUT I guess it's not the most important thing, it's just that it would be a nice touch that when you read the manga, you can see that all the costumes you see in there are actually costumes you can choose to wear in the game (for playable characters, that is). For example, Young Goku should be available with at the very least his original costume, training with Kame Sennin costume, Kame Sen costume, Shu costume, shop costume, jungle costume and snow costume, since they are all part of the story regardless of the version you choose for it.

I'd be fine with this game not coming out until 2015 if it meant increased quality of the game by that much.

In any case, there's no reason why this game can't be just as good/heavy on content as Sparking! METEOR, considering that game only took a year to make. If they take Raging Blast 2 as a base, and have two years development time, then the sky's the limit... just about.

Even if the game is released in one year or two years, it'll likely still be on current generation platforms... as is the case, generally, for Dragon Ball console games. Either that, or maybe we'll see a simultaneous release on XBOX 360, XBOX One, PS3, PS4 (and Wii U)?
