Being rude about your personal beliefs isn't going to persuade anyone in a conversation.

We're not talking about real nudity either though. That little turn-of-phrase works both ways, you know.Zenkai wrote:I wasn't talking about real violence.
We're discussing Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball is not real-life. Put 2 and 2 together.
Like I said, not particularly trying to argue here (though I guess I am), but I'm trying to get you to see that your personal opinion or morals should not be the way everyone else has to think, and that what you're calling 'child porn' is no more real than the violence you just called fake as well.

Can't you see the difference between fake sex and fake violence? Portraying explicit fake sex is meant to arouse sexual feelings. Portraying fake violence is not meant to make people act violent.
(PS: This post is about fake sex in general. It is not particularly about Dragon Ball. I do not think that Dragon Ball is a hentai.)

I give up, it's clear you're not going to be persuaded to at least see what I'm trying to say here as another legitimate viewpoint. I'll leave off with this statement however - I find the basic mindset of 'sex is bad!' to be quite silly in most cases. I don't want people's bodies to be objectified or for little kids to accidentally find porn any more than you do, but sex is kind of responsible for making more people...whereas violence is not. So I will never understand this ingrained mindset of (most of) the masses that sex is this horribly wrong, dirty thing, that should be completely repressed to the point that even an ink-and-paint drawing of a nude body is suddenly something offensive beyond belief. I just don't get it, like you just don't get my mindset either...so perhaps it's best if we just move on from here.Zenkai wrote:Reading an explicit hentai is morally wrong, but hentai isn't real-life either.

I don't think sex is bad.
Sex is good in its proper context.

This release really does seemed confused.
What's to be persuaded, though? Zenkai made a blunt value judgement, and apologized for assuming that his value judgement was not self-evident. He hasn't done anything else "wrong".Gyt Kaliba wrote:I give up, it's clear you're not going to be persuaded to at least see what I'm trying to say here as another legitimate viewpoint.Zenkai wrote:Reading an explicit hentai is morally wrong, but hentai isn't real-life either.

Anyway, getting back to the point of the actual thread...
Seeing as this release appears to be a flop, does anybody know when/if the currently out-of-print VizBigs will be reissued?
I dunno whether to buy the ones that are still available and cheap while I still can, but don't really want to end up with an incomplete collection either...

Obviously he's talking about marriage. And quite frankly, having sex outside marriage is wrong, but that's not the whole point of Zenkai's argument.Scarz wrote:Okay, I'm curious, what do you mean by "in it's proper context"?Zenkai wrote:Sex is good in its proper context.
Gyt, I don't understand why you keep on arguing with Zenkai. Are you trying to put your words in his mouth? You should really stop and get off your high horse. Nowhere did he say anything relate to gore and murder. He's not talking about that kind of violence. And Dragon Ball is by no means of that. The series is pretty similar to the superhero movies. And these contain some violences. Is it bad? Well, that depends on the degree of it. Most of them are fine. It's just a matter of conscience, ok?
Nudity/sex on other hand is entriely different story. Because they can affect you. And this is the fact from the studies done by researchers. They can make you become more decitiful, more ashamed, etcs. The reason why Zenkai is against this is because the Bible condemns this. He just follows the Bible's view on this matter. Whether you think and decide is your own business. No matter the degree of nudity or sex, the Bible is absolutely against this, and for a good reason.

Some of you certainly have beliefs. And you're certainly welcome to them.
Much like with your DBZ beliefs, however, let's not get out-of-hand and start pulling your own personal beliefs in as... err... well... I dunno, "canon"...? 'Cuz you sure don't speak for everyone on Earth.

Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
I think you missed the part where I said I was done arguing about it, DragonBallKaiHD. In fact, I considered not even replying here, but my 'through arguing' was with Zenkai rather than you, so... Anyway, here goes.
If it came off like I was putting words into Zenkai's mouth (or...hands...since it's typing...bah, you know what I mean!), then I apologize. But I was trying to express that his words could very easily be taken exactly as I said there, and that I disagree personally on why 'fictional sex' should be any worse than 'fictional violence'. And as far as the 'studies done by researchers', as far as I can tell these are the same level of 'researchers' who constantly profess that video game violence - and see, this time it's violence, not sexual content - that has an adverse effect on people. And to both, I call BS, because every individual is going to be effected by either thing in a completely different way than others would.
All I was trying to say was that nobody should act like their belief system is any more right than others, and say that I disagreed personally. Nowhere did I say he wasn't entitled to his beliefs however. So basically what VegettoEX said - don't expect that your own personal beliefs are 'canon' for everyone else in the world.
Anyway, this is all neither here nor there in the end anyway, so um - yeah, how bout them censored 3-in-1 volumes?

Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
Has anyone found new information about the new re-prints of these new editions?
Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk neither have any reviews yet and asking the sellers on the marketplace probably is a pointless move because they're all brand new factory sealed, and they're not just going to unseal to check whether or not it's as asked.
Also checked "Dragon Ball 3-in-1" by Upload Date and nothing of it came up.

Can't agree with you. I do find silly how people on other forums (IMDb) see violence as OK but sex is bad.And quite frankly, having sex outside marriage is wrong

But Bulma's naked breasts as she innocently takes a shower, and Yamcha(who at this point is absolutely terrified of women) unintentionally witnessing said shower, is not simulated sex in the slightest. The conversation seems to have strayed a little far out there, but I'll just say I disagree with your stance on erotica.Zenkai wrote:Can't you see the difference between fake sex and fake violence? It's honestly humorous we're even having this discussion which spawned from a nipple, when you consider Toriyama's Lady Red one-shot exists. Don't go looking for it if the stuff in DB offends you.

I do so love when people can't form their own opinions and instead hind behind that book; why not make room for discussion and consideration of your own/others beliefs when religion is mentioned? Where in the hell did this 'violence is more acceptable than sex' even come from, anyway? It's incredibly messed up. A link to 'proof' that nudity and sex can make you more deceitful would be fantastic. And generally, it's conservative viewpoints like yours and Zenkais that cause people to become ahasmed of their bodies. This is one of the most derailed threads I have ever come across lol.
Is it not about the 3-in-1? All the last lot of posts have been about are animated nudity. Utterly harmless and total embodiment of early Toriyama work. Afterall, DB was a gag manga...
Back to the actual topic. I personally believe we won't see any changes. How can Viz mess up the printing if it was there whole aim to have these "uncensored"?

Re: VIZ 3-in-1 Editions Coming Summer 2013
How is "people from multiple countries" related to this...?
As regarding to the violence, again, it has some degree to it. I have used the example from my previous post. How much is the violence? Gore? Mass killing? Or some martial arts? Ki- based battles? Are these on the same level? No. Are they still called violence? Yes. If going by everyone else's logic, then religious people shouldn't even be watching Star Wars at all. It's a matter of how much violence in the films are. Dragon Ball has some different levels of violence, but it's not enough to warrant a R-rated series.
So you are implying that the people who uses the Bible as a basis for their viewpoint are wrong? I'm going to be very blunt about this. I'm sorry, but you are no better either. Not everyone shares the others' beliefs. And don't go around telling the people that it's our fault that made them likes this. The people were ashamed of naked bodies to begin with. Judging by your second from the last sentence, you seem to be willing to go naked in the public. As I've said in my post, everyone has a different conscience. Having that is not inheritely a bad thing. It's actually what made people better. It's what defines morality. So just because they have a religious beliefs doesn't mean they are bad people. It just defines their lifestyle. That's all there is to it. If he doesn't like the nudity, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with him. You like it? That's fine. That's your business.Brodes wrote:I do so love when people can't form their own opinions and instead hind behind that book; why not make room for discussion and consideration of your own/others beliefs when religion is mentioned?
