Wow so they actually are releasing the old dub. I really want to get this but that price looks pretty high. I wonder if this will be a limited release because if that is the case then the price is only likely to go up over time.

Yeah and with this actually being marketed as a collectors set what's the problem?

If they haven't reached 500 preorders yet, you might be able to preorder from Anime Corner Store for 58.98 w/S&H instead of the MSRP that's going to be charged when this set hits retail in August.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

At that price... I really don't care anymore. I'm sure it won't have the TV Tree of Might either.

I only need a couple of more single DVDs to complete my collection anyway, so I'd rather spend the 15 or so dollars to finish my collection, rather than another $100...

Which is another way of saying, yeah, I'm 100% convinced--and shocked--that it's not a hoax. But $60? And $60 is the reduced price from rightstuf, they're listing the normal retail price as $100! Ho boy.......I don't know that the price for that can be justified, even with the movies included. Speaking of the movies, will these be the Pioneer-managed ones, or will the edited "Tree of Might" release be included as well? If it's the Pioneer-dubbed ones, than why is it listed that the only language is English (hinting that it won't be the previous bilingual, uncut release)?

FUNimation, I give you serious kudos for going to such lengths to satisfy the fans out there who want to see this, but I find it difficult to believe that this would sell well. An online, stream-only release would have been the way to go.

$100 is the SRP and most places don't sell home videos for SRP.

Seriously what is your problem ? Since this topic started every comment of yours has been whinny and bitchy. We get it you don't like it, that doesn't mean you need to bitch about it at any given opportunity.

What makes matters worse is that I'll have to pay the import price for this. It's a lot to pay for nostalgia but damn, it has been too long since I've seen the Saban dub in full. Well at least it should be have better quality than the old Pioneer releases. And it is good of them to include the movies too.

I'm really happy this is finally happening, but I'm gonna have to think about whether I should buy this or not. I just bought all of Z Kai.

Wait a few months and it'll likely go below even $60, even though they trying to sell this as a premium product I can't see it flying off the shelves like some of the DBoxes did (I'm prepared to be proven wrong on that when the time comes :P )

About the movies: there's not much point for them to include the Japanese track since it's still readily available in the Double Features and the first Movie 5Pack, especially since this appears to be a nostalgic, dub-centric release (not to mention they still probably want to promote their own dub of them).

I'm pretty stoked personally, it's a lot better than previously listed and I'm glad to (hopefully) have the Movie 3 Pioneer release as that was my first exposure to an accurate script and the original music when I originally had on VHS when I was about 7 or 8, this will be the biggest nostalgic rush I've had for the series in a long time.

I'm wondering something now. Was the original listing and DVD cover fake and coincidentally posted before the actual listing?

Here's the first DVD Cover if anyone forgets:

Extras include a Behind-the-Scenes Documentary: Ted Cole: What Happened To That Guy?

I don't think it was a fake, maybe it was a teaser of what's to come.

It is interesting to note the white text, the DBZ Logo and the Toei/FUNimation logo look identical to one another. Not to mention they both have "Rock the Dragon" on it.

Well, the previous listing only has the first 26 episodes. Maybe FUNimation was originally going to release the old dub in increments. First the "Saiyan Saga," then the "Namek Saga" (I know, not technically a saga, I'm just trying to imagine how FUNimation might label it), and then the movies. Perhaps after some time, they reconsidered and thought it was just better to release everything in one big collector's box, hence the cancellation of the original listing.

Here's a thought, though.....I wonder if they'll get the rights to the Westwood dub. I never thought that would happen, but then again, I never thought THIS would happen either.

Maybe from a collector's standpoint. But the dub itself is a spit in the face when compared to the uncut version. Not even worth watching.
Well... yeah, but you could say that about EVERYTHING on this boxset. Isn't that the point of this release?

That's very awesome that Funimation is re-releasing the Ocean dub in an elaborate boxset with all the episodes plus the movies. I'm actually thinking about getting it and yes, I do own the Dragon Boxes and Kai. It's like there's DBZ releases for every fan out there! :)

Can someone explain why the TV Dub of Tree of Might is apparently more desired than the Uncut Dub?

The rare Ian Corlett Goku/Shuki Levy music version.

Probably because it hasn't been released, unlike the uncut dub. The only remaining way to watch the edited dub is currently old VHS tapings. So I suppose, for those who want to revisit a nostalgic viewing, there's value in viewing it in high quality and on a DVD, rather than a horrific VHS taping that was uploaded to YouTube.

That, and I've heard some say that they prefer the writing and acting in the edited dub.

Many of the voices are excellent. Corlette, Lindbjerg, Saffron Henderson, Drummond, McNeil, Dave Ward, Don Brown, Michael Dobson, Ted Cole, Klassen... Perhaps the scripts weren't as good as they should've been, but they often turn chicken feathers into chicken soup.
