Anyone in favor of trying to put together, not sure how, but some sort of petition to submit to Animazement to get Ryo Horikawa and Chris Sabat there for a "We are Vegeta" panel!! or "We Are Piccolo" with Toshio Furukawa and Sabat!! :o Dream would be to have Piccolos, Gokus and Vegetas all talking about the franchise next year!

I got to meet Horikawa while you guys got to meet everyone else
Wheeere were you? Damn you all for meeting these voice actors! Agggghhhhh. And here I thought I was lucky for meeting my idol, the french Vegeta.
I was at Anime North.

Laziness has kept me from writing about my experience at this con. I guess better late than never.

Friday started out with exciting, anxious, and nervous feelings. I got in line for Masako Nozawa's first panel and I was pretty close to the beginning of the line. I got there about an hour and a half early. It was 11am and the panel wasn't scheduled to start till 12:30pm.

Image

Then, another guy comes and gets in line behind me. We start talking about Dragonball and how excited we are. Then he asks me if I've ever heard of a site named Kanzenshuu? Turns out this guy is Beji! What a coincidence, right? We start nerding out and then the guy in line behind him turns out to be CashmanX. We couldn't have done a meetup better than this even if we had planned it (Which we didn't)! Later after that, here comes Mr. "He's-always-late-LaBrie" and the wife. Apparently Masako Nozawa walked by us while we were all in line. I missed it though! I think it was because Beji and I were in the middle of a heated Pokemon Battle on our DS's.

Image

The staff started letting us in and I got to sit in the front row. Masako Nozawa was right there, sitting less than 20 feet away from me. She waved at me and Beji and said she liked our shirts! *Commence the fangirling* He was wearing his Goku Gi T-shirt and I was wearing my Goku Gi Hoodie Jacket. Then Yuko Minaguchi (I didn't know it was her at the time) waved in our direction and walked over to us with Masako Nozawa. The both started talking to the kid sitting on my left in Japanese. He shook Nozawa's hand! There was another kid on his left who then said, "domo" and shook her hand. So of course, I had to try and do the same! I said, "domo" and shook her hand! Beji then followed after and shook her hand too! Apparently the kid to my left had met Minaguchi the day before and told her how much he loved the show. And Minaguchi promised that if he came to this panel that she would personally introduce him to Masako Nozawa. I felt really lucky to be sitting next to him now! I then bragged about it on twitter.

Image

Right after her panel, we had to leave and get in line for her autograph session. I got her to sign my North American Dragonbox Volume 1!

Image

The One Piece panel was fun as well. I was lucky enough to sit in the front row again. I was getting to these lines super early to make sure I had a good seat :D. A lot of the questions were One Piece related questions, which is to be expected, but there was still a decent amount of Dragonball related questions too. The line for their autograph session was huge! People must have lined up for the autograph session instead of going to the actual panel. I decided to wait in line anyways. The line moved at a good speed and I was able to get my autographs. I had Toshio Furukawa and Yuko Minaguchi autograph my Battle of Gods movie ticket and had Nakao autograph my North American Dragonbox Volume 3! I was so nervous that I think I thanked them in three different languages. I said, "Thanks! Arigato! Gracias!".

After, I went straight to the AMV room since it was about to start very shortly and my Dragonball AMV was being showed. CashmanX and Beji joined me later while I was in there. Thanks for the support guys! There was a problem with the screening though because all the videos played with a blue tint. People still seemed to enjoy my video though so I was happy!

Image

The three of us left eventually before the AMV screening was over to catch the showing of DBZ Movie 5 Subbed. It's then when I met TheOriginalBilis, Pretorious, and Derek from "The Dao of Dragon Ball". Watching Dragonball with five fellow Kanzenshuu'ers...It was a good way to wrap up the day! And that was just Day 1!

Thanks, Drabaz! I added it to the post.

Sean Schemmel himself retweeted the post to his 6,000 followers.

Does anybody else have videos? I've seen "theoriginalbilis" videos, which are great (thank you!), but I know that Peter also recorded some on his camera. Have those been posted?

Schemmel meets Nozawa

Awesome interview! It's refreshing to hear Sean's remarks on the original dub, and the picture of them "fusing" is priceless.
Sean Schemmel is THE MAN! :)

Me- "Also, before anyone mentions it, Schemmel's interview was from nearly 15 years ago. He paid a brief visit to Kanzenshuu's forums a few years back and earned legendary respect that cancels out anything he said from that long ago. :D"

Why is Nozawa on a panel with David Hasselhoff? Is she in the Japanese dub of Knight Rider?

Is it just me, or this just the most touching thing to come from this franchise? Two vocie actors, from different parts of the world, who voice the same character, get to meet each other. It's not something you see everyday, and this really made my day!

Sabat's counterpart came too. (unfortunately, no fusion there)

I'm not sure but, maybe all the DBZ J. actors coming over has something to do with the new movie coming out in America at some point?

Not likely. However, it's more likely that Furukawa (Piccolo) and Horikawa (Vegeta) have expressed their positive con experiences to some of the other DBZ seiyuu; thus leading to us getting more and more of them (including M'F'ing Nozawa!) in recent years.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I do like that Sean Schemmel takes his shoes off to voice Goku to get grounded and "earthy". I just hope he doesn't have athlete's foot or that booth would be like a gas chamber. Maybe he should wear weighted clothing, too, so when he takes an article of clothing off it shatters the ground and everyone can be like, "He's been training!" Just wristbands or boots would do.

The singing to George Michael's "Faith" during a recording sounds fun, too.

Panel also confirms that Toriyama approved Nozawa continuing to voice Goku into his adulthood. :D

That panel was the best! Sadly I missed the beginning because I chose to go to the "We are Videl" panel. The panel was moving very slowly and I could hear all the laughing in the next room. So my friend and I decided to leave the Videl panel and go to Ryusei Nakao's panel! As soon as I walked in the room, all I saw was Nakao, a picture of some guy with his tongue out who I assumed was from One Piece, and a group of people yelling out "TROLOLOLOLO!" After that group did their "trolololo's"' Nakao asked for more volunteers. All I thought was, "Hell yea, I wanna be up there standing next to Ryusei Nakao! I don't care that I have no idea who this Caesar Clown guy is!" Now I wish I had been to the panel earlier so that I knew there would be more rounds with trying to imitate Freeza instead! TheOriginalBilis went up and did an amazing job during the Goku and Freeza fight scene!
