Well to be fair when FUNi first announced that they had acquired the DBOX masters during their initial press release they did say that the DBOX's were going to be limited print, however after the initial press release is where the problems start, I say this is where the problems start because after the initial press release they never mentioned the DBOX's being limited print again (via their website or the DBOX trailers) until "after" someone asked them about the sets, so because of their major failure to make it clear that the DBOX's were limited print (I hope they won't be stupid enough to make the same mistake again if they do any other DBOX's), I don't think it's really fair to say that everyone knew they were limited print when many people are saying otherwise, now does that mean the people who missed out are entitled to a reprint? No it doesn't however I think everyone can agree that a reprint would be a nice gesture on FUNimations part to allow people who may not have known about the DBOX's until it was too late (or them being limited print) a chance to own the series in this fashion.Brodes wrote:Yeah, actually, neither did I. If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
Couldn't have said it better myself. They could have stuck a 'Limited-Time-Only' sticker on the shrink wrap or something. Also a very notable fact they left out of their commercials. Hell, go to the official DBZ website and nowhere in the Dragon Box section (nor in its trailer which says "Available Now on DVD") does it mention its a limited-time release, and there's even a 'Buy Now' button! The site was recently revamped too, I believe.superrayman3 wrote:Well to be fair when FUNi first announced that they had acquired the DBOX masters during their initial press release they did say that the DBOX's were going to be limited print, however after the initial press release is where the problems start, I say this is where the problems start because after the initial press release they never mentioned the DBOX's being limited print again (via their website or the DBOX trailers) until "after" someone asked them about the sets, so because of their major failure to make it clear that the DBOX's were limited print (I hope they won't be stupid enough to make the same mistake again if they do any other DBOX's), I don't think it's really fair to say that everyone knew they were limited print when many people are saying otherwise, now does that mean the people who missed out are entitled to a reprint? Not everyone has money to burn. I BARELY got my Dragonbox's by doing chores and asking for extra allowence, and during that time I wasn't really able to afford anything else.TheGreatness25 wrote:But that's the thing. You got yorus, I got mine, a lot of people got theirs. The people that missed the boat...nothing really prevented them from owning it. If they didn't want to buy them before, why do they want to buy them all of the sudden? I think the answer is simple...they don't. They just want the option of buying them right? Not to jump on anyone who missed the boat with the Dragon Box, but seriously, what prevented you from owning them before? And do those same reasons, in fact, not exist anymore?
Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
Also, some people might prefer to wait, until they release last box, because, we all know from Level Sets and Ultimate Uncut, Funimation like to leave their releases unfinished. So far, the only unreleased DBZ related stuff in America are:
Saiyan and Namek saga 4:3 release, of English Funimation dub
English Ocean dub of Android/Cell/Buu Saga

Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
No offense to anyone at all, but a statement like, "I had to pay rent and couldn't buy the Dragon Boxes" doesn't really apply to a release that cost $40 each. Rent is way way way way more than $40. $40 is like 2 trips to the movies. They came out, what, once every 3 months? I don't think that people's lives would take a downward spiral if they got them as they came out.
Believe me, I understand all of you. I think it absolutely sucks. And whoever is selling them for so much is an absolute jackass. But to a big time corporation like FUNimation, I'm more than covninced that they'd see it as, "Well they didn't buy it before, it was inexpesnive, nothing really changed now, this release didn't really benefit us in any way...screw it."

Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
But you forget, there are people who can only afford to pay for rent or food, there are actually people who have to be so tight on money that getting an ice cream is considered pushing the budget. For example we've only had internet in the house for a few years because we simply couldn't afford it before then, even though everyone else has had it since the early-mid 2000's.
Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
I think those people have bigger problems on their hands than FUNi not being able to reprint the DBoxes for them. I'm sure it sounds harsh, but if they're that tight on money then why would they be "investing" in them in the first place?ringworm128 wrote:But you forget, there are people who can only afford to pay for rent or food, there are actually people who have to be so tight on money that getting an ice cream is considered pushing the budget.

What he may be getting at is that at the time of FUNi's DBoxes, they were tight on money. However, said people could now afford the investment.AgitoZ wrote:I think those people have bigger problems on their hands than FUNi not being able to reprint the DBoxes for them. Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
That's what I was thinking, I still think FUNi should consider a reprint of the DBOX's and here are my reasons.Insertclevername wrote:What he may be getting at is that at the time of FUNi's DBoxes, they were tight on money. However, said people could now afford the investment.
1. They did a terrible job of making it clear that the DBOX's were limited print (check my previous post for more info), and I think a reprint would be a nice gesture on FUNi's part for those who either didn't know about the DBOX's until it was too late (like me) or didn't know they were limited print because of FUNi's poor oversight.
Honestly when the DBOX's were released it was a bad time economy wise (we were in a recession so a lot of people couldn't really afford to use their money on luxuries like the DBOX's, that has since changed and the economy is starting to pick back up so a reprint would be an excellent idea for those who had to be money conscious and miss out the first time around).

That's honestly not FUNi's concern. Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
I never said they did owe us or have to do anything, all I'm saying is that if they were to consider doing a reprint, it would be a nice gesture on their part, and it would give people who had to miss out the first time due to financial problems, a more fair chance to own the series in DBOX quality, one thing I'm not going to budge on however is my stance regarding FUNi's failure to make it clear the DBOX's were limited print, honestly if the DBOX trailers, listings etc had something like this is a limited print item in the description, I wouldn't be able to complain right now, but the fact they didn't do that at least IMO is a valid reason to request a reprint.AgitoZ wrote:That's honestly not FUNi's concern. No offense, but I'm really not sure what the point of your posts are. I admitted in the OP (and this notion has been repeated by myself and others since) that we're not entitled to anything from FUNimation. FUNimation probably won't oblige us--I also said as much. Most of us understand that. You reiterating those sentiments isn't really contributing to the discussion. I also stated in the OP that this thread isn't intended to incite whining and complaining about the Boxes, but rather to organize an effort to let FUNimation know we want a reprint.AgitoZ wrote:That's honestly not FUNi's concern. Exactly. I'm not saying that FUNi has to reprint them but we should it would be great if they did. All we want them to know is that if FUNi were to decide to reprint the DBoxes, we would gladly buy them.

Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
I think a "petition" and emails are a terrible idea. If their Twitter and Facebook page gets bombarded with reprint requests (where it's out in the open and anyone can see them), then FUNimation might do something about it.
Just don't go writing with "swords swinging," be courteous and kind and state the situation and why you feel a reprint would be great. A petition that nobody is going to see will not even be looked at. And Emails? I think we all can agree that FUNimation looks at 1 Email out of 10,000 and doesn't usually care.

I don't quite see how that's any different than all the same excuses and justifications I see being throwing around.Ryuji-Otogi wrote:No offense, but I'm really not sure what the point of your posts are. Anyway, you guys may not be flat out saying that FUNi owes you something, but the language (not from you specifically) certainly portrays the people who don't have the DBoxes as being "woe is me". Calling FUNi's actions "failures", "oversights", etc isn't the best way to portray them either. Even simple things like calling a reprint a "nice gesture" almost seem like peer pressure to be quite honest. I hope you can understand where I'm getting this feeling of almost passive aggressive conduct from some of the posts in this thread.

Thanks for the input. That's not a bad idea. I mentioned earlier that petitions and emails weren't the best way to go about things myself. I still think hand-written letters are a good idea (perhaps along with doing the more public things you mentioned) because it's a tried-and-proven method when enough of them are sent.TheGreatness25 wrote:I think a "petition" and emails are a terrible idea. Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
I'll speak for myself and say "no", I don't think FUNi is at wrong here at all. They made a limited edition set and some of us failed to acquire all of them for whatever reason. I'm not going act like I deserve a reprint or it's "unfair" that I didn't get one. That would be ridiculous.
The only reason I'd send a letter and encourage others to do the same is to show FUNi that there is potential buyers if they plan to reprint the DBoxes. I'm not saying that they owe us anything or that they have to do a reprint. I just want to complete my collection by taking a non aggressive approach by showing FUNi that I would purchase DBox 2 brand new from a retailer (or through their shop channel) if ever given the chance. If others feel the same way then it's possible that FUNi may consider. They can profit off of anyone who missed out the first time by making a reasonable sized second run and we'll gladly give them the cash.
If not, then boo hoo. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Re: Anyone feel like writing? Dragon Box Reprint
The thing is people can still buy them they just have to pay more. If I was in Funis shoes I wouldn't want to upset. The people that bought the release the first time around even if they are scalpers because they actually bought the product. I would never want to turn down an existing customer in favour of a possible new one. If they couldn't afford it athetise and still really want it then they can still get it. I wanted the Thor steel book which is being re-released now.if I owned that I would be upset. If the artwork is different then I would still want the old one as well,I'm about ready to pay what the scalpers are asking if the rerelease has different artwork as well. My point is if they really want it then it will always be available just not for the same price.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force
If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure
If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me

No one in their right mind is paying $400 to $600 for one DVD set. You're not gonna get far trying to justify price scalpers' outrageous prices. If they can't earn a fortune off one Japanese cartoon box set then boo freakin' hoo! FUNimation will sell more Dragon Boxes than scalpers will and actually earn money doing it.oXdanXo wrote:The thing is people can still buy them they just have to pay more. Anyway, no offense, but these "you should have got them sooner" posts are getting tiring. If that's how you feel, then fine. But there are people who would be extremely grateful for a re-release, and that's what we're trying to do. No one here is demonizing FUNimation, or whining and complaining about them. I said from the get-go that this isn't some indignant petition for more DVDs. We totally understand this probably won't even happen and if it doesn't then oh well.
We don't need people reiterating what we already know--that we should have got them earlier, and that if we want them now we have to pass on rent, mortgage, bills, food, and pay outrageously high prices for Japanese cartoons instead.
