So we all excited for this release? Because, fuck-it, I am!
With this and the
Limited Edtion BOG DVD coming, August/September is set to be a pretty awesome couple of months.
Hell, 2013 as a whole has been a pretty awesome as far as Dragon Ball is concerned!

I do somewhat want the set, but I wouldn't want to pay more than say $40.
"Those transformations insane,
They wanna turn up hours late and steal the show from the pros who had to die for the name." - Yamcha (DBWTF: Z-Rap 3)
"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

$60 is perfectly fine for this set but I'll probably just pre-order this on a whim or buy it once released.

It's a good price. I wonder if the price fully dropped on amazon already? Still a while before it's released. I'm debating because I have the VHS Saiyan and Namek saga and the 3 movies on DVD. But...given that who knows how long the release will be out....I dont know lol.

There's almost no chance in hell DIC would even stand a chance when it comes to getting their grubby hands on Sailor Moon again (fans would kill DIC in a heartbeat if they did), now if FUNi were to get the rights to the series and decided to release the DIC dub in a boxset it would more than likely be called the Sailor Moon "Fighting Evil By Moonlight Edition". With that said just I saw the trailer for the DBZ set and truth be told I'm even more excited about getting it than I originally was, also it seems like the set's Tree of Might dub will be the TV edited version, which is a good thing since the TV version has never been released on home video before so if the 53 episodes aren't enough of an incentive to get this set the Tree of Might dub is IMO.

If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Still would be wroth it for the Snow White episode where Jupiter teaches us how talent is defined.

Trailer blocked in Australia.
I guess I'm the only one who prefers Chuck Huber's insane sounding Garlic and R-Bruce Eliot's Unicron Dr Uiro. Same with Tullece.

If I recall correctly, the original singles only included the preview on the last episode of each disc so it'd be nice to see all of them again. You have no idea how annoying it is to hear "Stay tuned for scenes from the next episode of DRAGON BALL Z!" on the orange bricks.
Yeah. FUNimation always did NEPs on DBZ, even from the beginning.

Nice trailer. If I didn't have everything on vhs, dvd or taped off Cartoon Network already, I'd be tempted for this.

If only I wasn't broke/in-between jobs during my college years, I would've picked up the dvds of those ADV released back then. Glad was able to find at least the vhs of the last eps of R.
Power of Love during the final battle against the Death Phantom was awesome!

I saw some of the first ADV boxset and the transfer wasn't so hot. I do own the Toku version of SM, as well as the current releases of the manga they are doing. The anime is the only version I don't own, but have seen every episode (including spinoffs like that 7 minute episode made for the Sega Saturn game).
...but back on topic, I really doubt I'd buy these unless I found them cheap somewhere.

I'm just going to come out and say that I think that has got to be the best trailer by Funimation I have ever scene. The whole VHS quality thing was done perfectly. In fact I'm going to re-watch it because it was just that awesome.

Haha it makes me happy to see comments from everyone. everybody seems to be very nostalgic for this.

I'm still debating if I should get this or not even though I already have the two box sets and the 3 movies..No point in lying to myself I probably will LOL

I know we were all hoping for another Dragon-box release and I'm sure it'll come, we just gotta wait it out.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Geez. With the trailer starting right at the OVER 9,000 scene, I thought I had accidentally stumbled onto a YouTube Poop for a moment there.
For a brief second near the end of the trailer, we see the closing credits. Looks like they haven't re-typed anything. And they interestingly called this the "Toonami" version. Of course, these edited episodes premiered in syndication a few years before Toonami ever picked this up. It sounds like these are direct rips from the tapes Toonami had.
They tell an outright lie, however, when they say this has never been released before. As we all know, episodes 1-53 were released on DVD in their edited form by Pioneer many, many years ago. Movies 1-3 with the Ocean cast were released uncut on DVD as well by Pioneer. I have all three of them in my room right now. The ONLY footage never-before-released we appear to be getting here is the edited-and-chopped-for-TV version of Movie 3.

"Never been released before since the last time we did!"

Well, not quite an outright lie. More like a half-truth.
Pioneer were the ones who released the original DVD's and VHS back in the day. This time around, it's Funimation themselves who are releasing it.

I wonder if the movies will have the "deleted scenes from the show" special feature...probably not since uncut episodes are so easy to get now.
Can FUNimation release a VHS version too...that would be total nostalgia

It's probably unlikely but if this is a success I wonder if Funi will consider releasing the original version of "season 3" "it can't beeeeee" guy and all.

I agree. I mean the UK is one of the main sources of interest for the Ocean dub and yet they block us. It actually makes me feel sort of isolated as a UK fan as if Funi are disregarding us completely. It really sucks that we have to go to annoying lengths just to watch a trailer that we should be able to watch instantly on Youtube with no hassle. And if you go on Funi's Youtube channel a lot of their other videos aren't blocked so I don't see why this is.
As for buying it I'm hoping it'll get listed on Amazon UK or Ebay UK so I don't have to pay outrageous import prices.

Don't forget that there's the licence issues which restricts FUNimation from allowing foreign users from seeing their content outside America, so it's because of this.
Just use some kind of a proxy or whatever and you're good to go.
Edit: The trailer was aimed for the nostalgic fans which is what this is about, and I am definitely going to be buying it though a little disappointed that it seems the picture quality is the same as the previous.
