It makes little sense for Bardock to be the strongest Saiyan on Planet Vegeta. The Vegeta family should be the strongest on the planet as far as I'm concerned. 12,000 is also just my opinion of Vegeta. Vegeta pretty much never trained so it would make sense if he didn't stray to far from 18,000.
Why would it be illogical? Goku, a low class warrior as his father was, eventually surpassed Vegeta and kept topping him at every corner. We learn that Saiyan castes don't really make much sense because it's not about what your Battle Power is when you're born, it's about the potential you have and the drive you have. Bardock was known to take on suicide missions and was moving up the ranks due to surviving a bunch of near-death encounters. If he wasn't the strongest by the time he died, he was pretty darn close to it.

At least Bardock survived a Death Ball to the face whilst King Vegeta died with a fucking uppercut.
Yeah but Goku had to be trained by a God and use a God given technique to even do damage to Vegeta the first time. Oh yes most definitely Bardock was close. He is probably the 3rd strongest on the planet because of all the Hell he's gone through.

Bardock is stated to to be nearing 10,000 and another Zenkai would take him over King Vegeta. The direct quote is "If he keeps this up he'll be stronger than King Vegeta.

Then we know Broly is born with a PL of 10,000 but him being stronger than King Vegeta is not mentioned.

King Vegeta at 11,000 and Vegeta at 12,000 works good for me or King at 10,500 and Kid at 11,000.

Nothing says that Vegeta surpassed his father before the Saiyans were killed off.

He does. Vegeta flat out states that he was stronger than his father.

Vegeta said that he surpassed his father when he was a kid. During the TV Special, he was 5. He still had 7 years as a kid, and 7 years to surpass his father.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Ok this will clear things up:
Herms wrote:There's really nothing in the series itself to go off of. King Vegeta is barely mentioned and never even named in the manga, and not shown or mentioned in the original version of the Bardock special. However, the Funi dub of the special changes the line where Bardock's BP is said to be nearly 10,000 to instead say that Bardock is nearly as strong as King Vegeta.

Daizenshuu 7/Chouzenshuu 4's bio for King Vegeta describes him as the strongest Saiyan at the time of their planet's destruction; Vegeta says in the Freeza arc that he surpassed his father while still a child, but going by this he didn't reach that milestone until after his father's death. Anyway, this line obviously implies that King Vegeta was stronger than Bardock. In the manga Freeza only remembers Bardock as the Saiyan "who held out until the very end", and not necessarily for being particularly strong.

Of course, these days Bardock is a Super Saiyan, which presumably gives him the edge until DB Heroes rolls out a Super Saiyan King Vegeta card.
King Vegeta > Bardock. So now that we have that out of the way. Vegeta could clearly walk up to Bardock and knock his block off  .

There was a lot of bullshit in that special, but Bardock beating Vegeta wasn't part of it. The difference in power could simply be small.

Also, no no no, guys, you got it all wrong. The most powerful saiyans were actually Gerkin and Hanasia, super special OCs that totally weren't pulled out of two respective asses. They're actually way stronger than King Vegeta, who is only at 9,000. This wasn't mentioned in the original manga or the special because those things are non canon, obviously completely wrong, and also because Salagir's fan opinions > the Daizenshuu and the films themselves.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Well actually that means Bardock could have never defeated King Vegeta in the first place which makes this mini-comic and the original special it's based on complete bullshit.

Not until sometime after Planet Vegeta's destruction. Could have been 13 year old Vegeta for all we know.

I just merely changed King Vegeta's BP to 13,000. It doesn't contradict anything and K.Vegeta at 13,000 just feels right for some reason  .

I just have King Vegeta at 10,000 exactly. However Salagir has him at 9,000, weaker than Bardock and his two super special OCs.

King Vegeta SPARTAAA-kicking Bardock would've made for a better special. He even has the beard for it.

Vegeta isn't stronger at that time as the guidebook says King Vegeta was the strongest before the Saiyans were eradicated.

As was said, Vegeta only said that he surpassed his father as a child. That could've been when he was 12, several years after Freeza's bad mood.

I prefer hissy fit for Freeza. Though that may classify Birus better as he does have those
