It's such a shame it had to go, they should've just taken out that one song...

Apparently they solely used BGMs that were stereo, and so it ignored the rest which were mono.

It applies because that's why the "old music", i.e. the Kikuchi score, isn't fully integrated into Kai.

Unless, you didn't mean that score. In which case, you could've worded your post a bit better.

As for as the Yamamoto score goes, Toei does not use it because it does not want to risk another debacle so they're just not using any of his score.

I'm a little confused by your post?

The song you linked is in Kai - it's used as Vegeta delivers his dying speech to Goku about the Saiyans.

I think I know what he's getting at here.

I think he's wondering why they don't use as many of the existing Yamamoto pieces as possible- the ones that aren't blatant plagiarism.

The thing here is that Toei doesn't know all of the offending pieces. For all they know, it could be every single one of them; so why risk it?

At the very least, I don't see why they didn't reuse they Dragon Soul instrumental. I mean, it's just Dragon Soul. It doesn't stylistically fit with Kikuchi's tracks, but then neither do the eyecatch tracks and insert songs. :?

One thing the replacement score really lacked was a theme song track for moments like when Goku finally arrived to confront Vegeta and Nappa, like in Z where they had the Cha La instrumental and in Kai they had the Dragon Soul instrumental. Kai's replacement score really lacked a track like that, so if not Cha La, why not use Yamamoto's Dragon Soul? If his score had to be purged entirely, then did he not do the eyecatch tracks or something?
