Ugh.
Possibly for the classic "everything is different now" setting. That or Anno wanting to make Rebuild as different as possible.

Cowboy Bebop? The series is "Meh" at best, at least to me.

Steve Blum as Spike Spiegal is awesome though.

Indeed, not sure if it's true but I heard MANGA paid $1 million for The End of Evangelion.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

And only to you, I would imagine. It's nothing less than a work of genius.

If Funimation is going to pick up Bandai Ent. titles, that should definitely be the first.

I've checked before around and I'm definitely not the only one who thinks so. For all the hype and practically worship I had heard about it, I was kinda expecting a bit more to be honest. Decent series but definitely not something I would actively recommend to others, nor would I place on my top 10 favourite anime. The worst I could probably describe the series is "Overrated".

Now, that's not to say I don't like all of the series. I definitely like the main cast of characters themselves, the self-contained stories are enjoyable and the side-plot about Faye was good. I just feel there was not enough build up for the main story, making it feel rushed in the end.

Maybe I should give 'Legend of the Galatic Heroes' a watch.

Dragon Ball? Oh right... well if they're not announcing anything new Dragon Ball, I'd still like to see what they actually are announcing.

Awesome! Even if it's non-Dragon Ball related, I'm still curious as to what this will be!

I love Bebop, but I know what you're saying. When I watched it the first time, I didn't expect it to be as episodic as it was. And even though I ended up loving how it was in the end, I would have loved if a few more episodes were dedicated to the personal histories of the main cast.

Yeah, Cowboy Bebop is pretty iffy. While I kind of expect the announcement to be that they have licensed the title, I'd be pretty let down. Yamadera and the other actors are all good, but the story really leaves something to be desired.

I'll be doing the same because for other series I can just pass by Amazon's website and check for new upcoming releases.

Hmmmm......a Saint Seiya rescue......unlikely, but gosh would I like that. I just feel so left out with all these other countries getting dubs. Not just dubs of the rest of the series that ADV didn't get around to, mind you, but dubs of the songs, dubs of the movies, dubs of the Hades OVA series, dubs of "The Lost Canvas," and not too long ago France even began a dub of "Saint Seiya Omega"!

Unfortunately, I think the animation of the original series is a little too outdated, and the series too long, for FUNimation to take interest. Which sucks, because the stuff that Toei and TMS have put out since then have animation that ranges from acceptable to jaw-droppingly beautiful.

Ah well. A guy can dream.

If it's not DB, it'll obviously be a Golden Gash Bell!! rescue! And then the success of that will get an uncensored reprint of the manga from Viz! And then birds will fly out of my butt carrying a banner that reads "you're happy!"

If I'm not mistaken that Discotek Media has release Saint Seiya on DVD?

With guys mentioning Dr. Slump, few years back I told guy at a Funimation panel I would love them forever if they did Dr. Slump with Laura Bailey or Luci Christian as Arale. He said, he'd love it to do Dr. Slump, but since older series don't do so well stateside...

Lines and mentality like this are the very reason certain Anime classic's that could actually have some potential in the west will probably never get released in the english speaking world.

Edit: 1,498 more likes to go.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

The problem with that is FUNimation refuses to just release the series subbed. Depending on Toei's licensing fees (which probably aren't too high for Dr. Slump: Arale-chan at this point), FUNimation could make their money back if they just had Simmons do some subs and through it out in a few limited sets.

We've pretty much reached a point in the NA Anime industry where almost everyone pretty much expects any up coming anime release's (whether the material be old or new) to be bilingual (it's sorta became an unwritten rule so to speak), back during the older days of anime, sub only releases were more viable because a lot of anime titles were heavily edited for TV broadcast so it made more sense to release the original Japanese version as sub only, but as the times and standards changed and companies adapted to making Anime more uncut, the need for sub only releases has pretty much died out with the big name players.

In addition to that, FUNimation has said several times that the majority of the people who buy their home video releases are dub-watchers. They said, however, that there are still more than enough sub-watchers that doing anything other than a bilingual release would not be economically practical.
