Sentai does sub-only releases, claiming (about a year or two ago) three thousand units to be a success. Sub-only releases are profitable and viable, DiscoTek, Sentai, and Aniplex prove this.

I've checked before around and I'm definitely not the only one who thinks so. For all the hype and practically worship I had heard about it, I was kinda expecting a bit more to be honest. Decent series but definitely not something I would actively recommend to others, nor would I place on my top 10 favourite anime. The worst I could probably describe the series is "Overrated".

Now, that's not to say I don't like all of the series. I definitely like the main cast of characters themselves, the self-contained stories are enjoyable and the side-plot about Faye was good. I just feel there was not enough build up for the main story, making it feel rushed in the end.
F***ing blasphemy. It's got the best art, music, action, characters, direction, and thematic chemistry in anime. :x

And it was Bandai Entertainment's all-time best seller, so Funimation would reap great rewards by licensing it.

But whatevs. DB forum. Back to DB.

Dr. Slump was never dubbed expect for that one episode from HG that never got pick up. As I mention before, Discotek Media is a better choice for Dr. Slump then Funi. Having Dr. Slump would be nice since only very few subs of the show exist and those subs are awful HK subs.

I would probably give those honours to my Number 4: Trigun. Back to the DB forum indeed but I'd be willing to continue this conversation through PM.

Perhaps, but I was talking about what FUNimation has said of their audience.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:

I don't care for sub-only stuff and outside the Voltron counterparts, Sailor Moon, and temporarily Step Up Love Story (which I understand why Media Blasters didn't dub), I don't buy them. That's why I haven't seen the Gurren Lagann movies or the Zeta Gundam movies, and the former had better ratings in its US broadcast than its Japanese broadcast.

I'm find with subs only since I watch most of my movies and shows subbed. The shows and movies that I owned subbed are Devilman 1972, Ultra Seven, Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend, Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman, Devilman OVA 1-2 and The Seven Samurai (One of my all time favorite movies). If we don't get anything DB related then I'm cool with it. I won't lose any sleep over it if it is not BOG or Buu Saga Kai.

Any anime that is dubbed in English should be released with both languages (With understandable exceptions like Pokémon).

The movies as a whole aren't really worth it unless you're a huge TTGL fan, but I highly, HIGHLY implore you to at least watch the Final Battle of Lagann-Hen. It's been re-animated and it is amazing. I'd say it's well worth just picking up the second movie.

Maybe I should give 'Legend of the Galatic Heroes' a watch.

Dragon Ball? Oh right... well if they're not announcing anything new Dragon Ball, I'd still like to see what they actually are announcing.
I couldn't get into Bebop either... but I was in a tough time at that time, I do want to give it another shot.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Discotek is a completely different case though because they're not a dubbing company, it's true they do sub only release, but their reasons for doing so are completely different compared to FUNi, in certain cases (like Cutey Honey for example) the original language version of what they license is all that exists, and if an english dub does exists it's always one that was made when a previous distributor held the rights Discotek doesn't produce dubs personally, but how Discotek handles the dubs they receive depends on the situation, if the dub is audio that syncs with the video to where they can just make a bilingual release, they'll make a bilingual release (Puss in Boots falls into this category), but in cases where the dub Discotek gets was heavily edited to where a dub only and sub only release is virtually a must (Samurai Pizza Cats and its Japanese counterpart fall into this category) they'll make a dub only and sub only release, FUNi on the other hand are a dubbing company so any title they acquire they have the funds, experience and tech to produce a dub and they have never (at least to the best of my knowledge) done a sub only release, so why would FUNi start doing sub only releases now when they have pretty much set a standard for themselves?

Edit: 783 more likes to go.

With just 531 more likes to go, we'll probably get the announcement tonight or tomorrow, since it's been going up by 1,000-2,000 everyday.

But on another note, FUNimation has posted a poll asking fans what they think the announcement may be. Since they have way too many options to list, i'll jsut post the DB-related ones.
- DBZ Battle of the Gods Subbed/Dubbed (This option is commanding the board so far, so even if this isn't the announcement, this might show FUNimation there is demand for this to happen)
- Something Toonami related (It's unlikely, but you never know)
- DBZ Kai Buu Saga (This hasn't actually been officially confirmed to be dubbed yet, so this is definitely possible)
- Continue the Dragon Ball Z Blu rays (I've heard a couple people on this forum talk about this, but I highly doubt this huge announcement will be about a Blu-Ray release)

If they were to continue the Dragon Ball Z Level sets on Blu-ray do remember that the quality on the newer ones could potentially be much lower, unless FUNimation were to find a way to gain the same results for less money.

FUNimation just posted this on Facebook:

Since FUNi didn't list new Dragon Boxes as one of the options, are the other options red herrings? I hope so...

Were the options in the poll created by Funimation staff? Or were they generated by the FB community? How many likes to go?

Just a moment ago, it showed 999,854 likes. So that's less than 150 likes to go, and they should reach it quickly. As far as the poll questions go, I don't have an answer, sorry.

EDIT: From what it looks like though, they look to be generated by the community, based on grammar/capitalization of the poll choices, and the sheer number of choices, being well over 75 options it appears.
