So I was watching the FUNimation release of DBZ Kai the other day and I couldn't help but notice this really annoying grid artifact. It seems like it's on every frame but is mostly visible on white screens and/or re-traced scenes.
Taken from the end of E53

Taken from near the end of E38
Has anybody else noticed this before? I can confirm it is NOT on the original broadcast of the series but I have no idea if it's there on the DVDs and/or the Japanese Blu-rays.

Maybe it's just me but, I don't see what you're trying to point out.

I noticed it on some redrawn shots on my DVDs, but not on the original footage, and I only noticed when I was zoomed in on it in Photoshop. I've also noticed the original footage is slightly darker on the right side than it is on the left for whatever reason.
Both are hardly noticeable, so they don't bother me, but I'm perplexed as to what caused both of those defects. I'm guessing the darkness on the right side of the film scenes was due to being scanned incorrectly, or just the equipment they used or something?

They forgot to add the layer of the Kikoho effect on episode 9's NEP. It's fixed on 4:3 releases though.

Oh I see. Hmm, I've never noticed. But then again, I didn't even notice it on these images so, maybe I just don't have an eye for this.

Jeez, how dark is your screen for you to notice that. My monitor is hardware calibrated and I had to darken my screen to see that first image.
What a strange issue, I wonder what even causes that.

Sigh. I wish they hadn't "fixed" that.

If you open it up on photoshop and turn the brightness waaaaaaaaaaay down, you might be able to notice it.

I've never noticed since I don't have the brightness so low, Freeza looks like King Cold. xD

If I had to guess, it's the subtle result of some filter they used.
This is the episode of when Gokuh enrages himself after Freezer talk shit about Kuririn
