Cover Art & Color Images

Post by Great Saiyaman » Wed May 03, 2006 1:09 pm

I had a question...are the images on the Cover Art for the Graphic Novels (Tankobon) drawn & colored by Toriyama himself? Because a lot of people myself included refer to the Tankobon for the "official" colors, is this right to do? Also, what about the Kanzenban, did he do those aswell? Finally do you know of a place where I could find some other Color Images by Toriyama?

I'm about 98% sure he drew them himself, yes.

For the Kanzenban, make it 88%, I'm not as familiar with those, but I think so.

Yes Toriyama drew the covers for the new Kanzeban.

And the color chapters were colored by him as well (when the manga was originally in weekly Jump).

Were they? With Dr. Slump he had an assistant to do the coloring for him, might've been that way too with DB?

(Don't know how much freedom Toriyama would give his assistant with color choice though

All the Tankōbon and Kanzenban covers were drawn by Toriyama-sensei. As for the colored chapters...I know that he colored some of the pages, but I think the ones that got the lesser end of the ink budget were done by his wife or assisstant(s), with his approval, obviously.

I'm sure you know where to find all the Tankōbon and Kanzenban covers....(coughthere'sasitetoo!cough), but finding colored chapter scans can be harder. I have a -few- courtesy of the MFG SiteMaster, but I've posted them enough times on various boards that I don't think you need me to post them again.

That's about all I know about that...
