Well, bully for you, but Goku's Japanese voice is excellent and the intended one.JEFFMAN90 wrote:It doesn't matter gokus Japanese voice still sounds bad. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Just because it's the intended voice doesn't mean he has to like it. It reminds me of when I got flamed on another forum because I didn't like the way a game characters name was romanized, and I pretty much just got "that's what the creator wanted you can't argue with it".

I don't think anyone has a problem with his opinion, it's just the way he approached giving it. He just totally dismissed what penguintruth said which is unnecessary along with not even beginning to back up what it is he doesn't like about it.ringworm128 wrote:Just because it's the intended voice doesn't mean he has to like it. Well, of course he doesn't have to like the voice. But if he's going to state that it is outright bad, then he should probably back up that statement.ringworm128 wrote:Just because it's the intended voice doesn't mean he has to like it. One thing you have to remember about all three of these characters that they've all yet to be portrayed as a muscular, strong man in his mid-20's/30's/40's who's known to punch people's faces in. Ash is gonna stay 10 forever.OutlawTorn wrote:dbboxkaifan wrote:I don't think it can even be narrowed down to Goku being voiced by a woman as you can check out other English dubs to find male characters voiced by women, from Ash in Pokemon to Naruto. Even Bart Simpson is voiced by a woman.
I think it's also pretty interesting to note that there very rarely does a Nozawa-style Goku-style voice (A woman voicing a strong/powerful/muscular man) actually appear in anything outside Shonen adapations (Where the main character usually stays a teenager until the end, rather than aging as Goku did), and more or less started with Goku to begin with.
Note that I'm not entirely sure I have much further a point than "Nozawa's Goku is very much a unique case regardless of how many women have voiced men, because of who Goku's character is.", so don't take it as leaning towards either side of this.

Going even further, many characters can be a kid/teen and still be voiced by men. Tohru Furuya voiced Seiya (13) and Amuro Ray (15) respectively. Look at Jonathan Joestar and Dio in the recent Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. They were both twelve during the first episode or so, and sounded like full grown men, lol (pretty much looked like teens).KiddoCabbusses wrote:One thing you have to remember about all three of these characters that they've all yet to be portrayed as a muscular, strong man in his mid-20's/30's/40's who's known to punch people's faces in. I've heard more instances of men voicing male kids/teens than women voicing adult males.
