Somewhat DB related: Assembly of a soft vinyl figures
This is rather trival, and it seems like a pretty straight forward concept, but my husband just bought me the Banpresto Chibi Piccolo Soft Vinyl figure and he came in two pieces. Head and Body. But I am having an absolute bitch of a time getting his head on. Still no luck after almost 15 minutes, and it really pisses me off considering this would be a really cute figure to look at once assembled.
This problem is mainly due to the fact that soft vinyl pretty much doesn't retain it's shape under pressure. Anyone have any tips for me getting his head on, or is he doomed to live in his box forever?

I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time, everything is 3D blasphemy.
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up, this is not the way I picture me.
I can't control my shakes, how the hell did I get here? Something about this, so very wrong.
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this. Is it a dream or a memory?

Re: Somewhat DB related: Assembly of a soft vinyl figures
I am assuming that you are talking about this figure:

Because it is a soft vinyl figure you can submerge the parts in boiling hot water for about 15- 30 seconds and the vinyl will soften up and be easier to work with. Once the vinyl cools it will go back to it's original shape. If for some reason you leave the part in the boiling water for longer, don't worry, it won't damage the figure. You can also hold the vinyl piece under a hairdryer until the vinyl softens up. Just hold the piece about 8 inches away from the hairdryer. DO NOT hold the vinyl piece directly against the hair dryer, as this might warp the vinyl to the point it won't go back to it's original shape.
I don't own this figure, but I assume that either the body has a "neck" peg that plugs into the body or the body has a peg that plugs into the head. I would use either heating trick to soften up the vinyl. I think heating up the hole, not the peg, would make it easier to get the two parts together. Once the pieces are together, just rotate the head side to side to make sure the peg is fully inserted into the other part.

This happened to me a few years ago and I made a thread about it too! These vinyl figures really are a bitch to fit together sometimes. I was so aggravated I just wanted to put the top of Goku's body on a soda bottle and call it a day.

That'd be the onecracker wrote:I am assuming that you are talking about this figure:

Thanks for the tips! I've never had to assemble a soft vinyl figure before. All the other ones that I do own are pre assembled in clear packaging.Because it is a soft vinyl figure you can submerge the parts in boiling hot water for about 15- 30 seconds and the vinyl will soften up and be easier to work with. And yes, it is a peg on his body where his head attaches by "sliding" or "popping" on.
Sounds like a plan, and I've seen that Goku that you were having trouble with. They had it on Amazon a few weeks back for like 15 bucks. I was like 15 bucks for a 16 inch soft vinyl? I wondered why it was so cheap, and now I know.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:This happened to me a few years ago and I made a thread about it too! Sorry for the double post, but my husband came home and got the figure's head on.
It's a little unorthodox, but he got the idea to use our water-based sex lube
No heating of the vinyl needed, the head went on without a problem.
