How strong was Dabura?

Post by Kamiccolo9 » Sat Jun 29, 2013 4:01 pm

Before Babidi took control of him, how strong do you think Dabura was? Seeing as Babidi mad Spopovitch, Yamu, and Vegeta stronger, there's no reason why he wouldn't do the same to Dabura as well. A theory I see often is that he is a Makaioshin, yet that would make him weaker than Kaioshin, which doesn't really match up to Kaioshin's reaction when he sees Dabura under Babidi's control.

Before being controlled, I think Perfect Cell would be a good choice, stronger than Vegeta SSJ and weaker than Goku SSJ.

The Daizenshuu 7 says Dabura is equal to Cell. Problem is, we don't know which Cell or what level of power he has shown in the past. I just say he is roughly equal to the Cell that fought Goku.
The man who boasts the greatest power in the Demon Realm, a place said to exist on the opposite side of the universe from where Goku and co. live. He had his heart manipulated by Babidi, and become his underling. On top of having a battle power equal to Cell's, he is also skilled in magic. After dying, Enma Daio judged that as king of the Dark Demon Realm he would be happy in Hell, and so he sent him to Heaven.

That's after he's possessed by Babidi though. I'm asking for opinions on what his power was before Babidi took control of him. Seeing as Babidi powered up his other henchmen, it's reasonable to assume he did the same to Dabura.

I'd say his power was doubled upon being controlled.

Based on Vegeta, Yamu, and Spopovich, it seems like if Bobbidi draws our your potential beyond its limits then you end up looking pretty veiny. Maybe Dabra, Pui Pui and Yakon didn't have any potential to be unlocked because they were pure evil or something? Or they could possibly wear off given enough time. I dunno, I don't think there's a lot of evidence one way or another. Other than there would be no reason for Bobbidi to not do it.

Going by Vegeta I don't think Dabra got a gigantic boost. But he got a significant one. I have Vegeta being under SSJ2 Kid Gohan by a significant amount and then stronger after the Babidi power up. I I guess I would have Dabra at Super Saiyan 1.5 or something like that.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

When it says "equal to Cell" I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean "equal to Cell as long as he is suppressing himself". That's just a complete load of crap.

On topic: IMO, around full perfect Cell before the Majin spell, around Super Perfect Cell after (if we take his line about Gohan being trash to be reliable) OR around the Cell that Goku fought before the Majin spell, equal to full power Perfect Cell after (if what Kaboom said was accurate and an old guide really did say he was weaker than Gohan).-

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Equal to Perfect Cell, either suppressed or full power. Plus magic, of course.

I don't think Babidi increased his power at all. The way he described it sounds like taking possessing of Vegeta and drawing out his dormant power were two separate things.

That's your opinion and mine is perfectly acceptable. He has a wide range of Battle powers. It just says Cell. Not Perfect Cell, Not Super Perfect Cell, no specification  .

This is off topic but...FUCK your thumbs up!

On topic: I'm sure they mean Perfect Cell(Not SPC) due to that being the most common one in terms of power. and in guidebooks

True, but it seems that he likes doing both of them together.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

If Babidi released Dabra's hidden powers, then perhaps the original Dabra meets the requirement of being a Makaioshin, which is to be weaker than Kaioshin.

I don't know, he did it to Vegeta straight away but he may have thought that was necessary he underestimated him so much. Dabra doesn't show the signs of being amplified by Babidi's magic, which may be because Babidi was already extremely confident with his power.

Either way, Dabra should have been stronger than Kaioshin before the takeover. Why would Kaioshin be scared of him otherwise? He didn't know Dabra was under Babidi's control until they got to the ship, but already viewed him as something to be feared.

As I see it, Dabura with the Majin powerup is equal in strength to Perfect Cell. I don't know about Super Perfect Cell, but Perfect Cell, yes.

Without the Majin Powerup, My guess would by either Goku or Vegeta's level after leaving the Time Chamber.

Well an opinion is an opinion but I don't think any character says another is as strong as someone else unless they are talking about maximums. I would never compare two individuals unless I was their maximums were the same. If he wanted to say Dabura was about the same strength as suppressed Perfect Cell then Goku would have just said "He is weaker than somebody we thought in the past." Also, how can we get a specification on which Cell? They never really had a name for Cell other than Cell for any of his forms. We as a community decided to make the distinction between Cells forms as Imperfect Cell, Semi-Perfect Cell, Perfect Cell and Super Perfect Cell. Goku can't really be specific about what level he was talking about. Honestly, you wouldn't say someone is about as strong as someone else unless you are talking maximums.
