I too doubt Sabat is lying. Sonny Strait said in an interview that he tried to see if he could get FUNimation to let him watch the original Japanese version of the Bardock TV special so he could do research on the character, and that they didn't have a copy of the original Japanese version available, only the Mexican Spanish dub.

And again, it must be emphasized, they *did* hire translators. Steve Simmons began working on translations as early as "Season 3" for their home video releases. It's just that FUNimation, in the interest of "reversioning" the show, wasn't particularly concerned with making a faithful English dub. Nor was it their job to, really. That's what we all wanted, myself included, but strictly speaking their only job was to make sure the show made Toei (and themselves) money...and hey, mission accomplished.

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but I'm pretty sure I just connected the dots on how Kaiser knows what Tockar's Freeza sounds like.

Ha, the question now? That's a bit of an understatement, I think that's been the question since September 10th, 2010 (when this thread started)!

I don't know about "heard," but apparently both Kirbopher and KaiserNeko both know who the new Goku is. Kirbopher said that the person they've picked to play Goku is "the perfect man for the job," but that we will be surprised once we hear who it is because it's an unexpected choice. He said that our initial reaction will be, "Wh--really? You picked him?" But that he will win us over.

KaiserNeko has only dropped a vague hint, saying that it's pretty ironic that they got Kappei Yamaguchi to dub Goku in "Dragon Ball Evolution." This is, of course, a very vague hint, but the general consensus is that this means whoever is playing Goku is an English voice actor who previously played a prominent role that Kappei Yamaguchi played in Japanese. For that reason, the two biggest suspects are Richard Cox and Alessandro Juliani.

That crossed my mind too, haha! That'd be funny as hell.

I'm happy to hear that Ocean has picked a Freeza that's in the same vain of Ayres/Nakao. I had my doubts, but if they picked a Freeza like that and a more accurate to the original Goku (even though I think Schemmel is an awesome Goku), this could top FUNimation's dub. But, it all depends on script and direction quality (hopefully Karl Wilems) I hope to see an Ayres level performance for all newcomers to this dub.
