Picked up these Japanese Dragon Ball Z Movie VHS tapes
During my last trip to Japan, I visited a neighborhood junk sale and purchased 7 of the Dragon Ball Z movies on VHS. I made it a personal goal of mine while I was there to purchase the other 6. I visited every hard-off/book-off I could find but was only able to get 1 more, this leads me to believe these are pretty scarce. The 7 I purchased from the junk sale are in perfect condition and look good as new. They have the gold holographic sticker on the actual VHS tape, so I know they aren't bootlegs. Does anyone have anymore information on them?

Re: Picked up these Japanese Dragon Ball Z Movie VHS tapes
I did a short internet search for them a short while back and was very surprised that I couldn't find them anywhere. I only have the tape of movie 12 (and for some reason, the case of mine is white, not black, like yours). I bought my copy of that movie in 2000 or so, and they weren't particularly hard to find then. I would much rather have the Japanese VHS tapes than FUNi's DVDs of these because of the audio quality. Well, and I like the cover art better. And the original title cards. Mostly because of the audio though.
If FUNi releases the movie DBox, however, my incentive to get the VHS tapes will be much lower.

VHS!?! lol how will you play those!? i haven't seen a VHS player in like 10 years. maybe in 50 years those will become a collector's item worth millions. but i have to admit, even without a whs player, i would not mind having those sit pretty in my house

I've got DBZ Movie 7 on VHS, and I know Julian has DBZ Movie 12 (which I stole for a couple years at some point a while back).
I wouldn't say they're particularly "rare", but time has definitely made them less available than they used to be. I dunno what other information there really is to provide. The movies were put out on VHS, and you just bought a bunch of them

Ahhh, movie 7 is the one I want the most. The VHS of that movie was my first exposure to Japanese DBZ (any ANY DBZ past the end of the first Ocean dub). I think I rented it from a place in Atlanta called House of Anime. I just happened to see it there by chance when I was in town visiting my aunt. It was kind of ridiculous to rent it, because I had to go back home to North Carolina to watch it, and then had to go a looong way to return the thing. But, holy crap, it was worth it.
eBay has DB movie 3 and The Path to Power at the moment, by the way. I'd probably snag them if I had the disposable income.
I am not aware of another place online to get them besides eBay really. Unless you can read Japanese. Then amazon.co.jp. I think they are cheap on there, but I'm not sure about shipping.

I didn't know they still sold VHS+
. I still have some VHS of Dragonball through. It's the King Piccolo vs Goku fight through.
