Wow, way to completely misinterpret that scene. It's about this horrible raging monster of power inside Goku erupting, shaking the planet, about to eat Freeza alive for his crimes. It's pure, unadulterated terror. It's effing Judgement Day on Namek. Kikuchi's piece is, "HOLY CRAP WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" whereas Faulconer's is "WOW GOKU SURE IS AWESOME AMIRITE? DUH DUH DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN!" followed by Beavis and Butthead headbanging.90sDBZ wrote:Out of curiosity what did everyone else think was going to happen when they saw the scene for the first time? To me it was clear that this would be the miracle that would allow Goku to beat Freeza. I just don't understand how there's any other way to interpret it. They were at rock bottom and any change in Goku at this point could only be a good thing. Plus Vegeta had spent the whole saga going on about the Legend of Super Saiyan as if it were a great thing and how it would rise up and bring an end to Freeza. As great as the scene and storyline is it was very predictable what would happen in the end.

But as 90's said you can interpret the scene differently there's barely anything to suggest that your interpretation is concrete. Maybe if it cut to King Kai saying "Goku could kill them all". And I've never really seen the SSJ theme as "Goku is badass" As 90's pointed out it starts out conveying the emotion Goku is going through and then goes into his rage and IMO it also has a "something special is happening" vibe. The way people go on about it and other Faulconer tracks you would expect them to sound like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Y-Rcm1Ch0

Look at Gohan's face, he's in fear. Everything leading up to that suggested Super Saiyans were vicious by nature.

Goku even warns Gohan to get out of there because he's not sure he can hold onto his mind in that state.

Hrm.... Actually, it sounds a hell of a lot better there than it does in the actual sequence. Probably my Nozawa hate getting in the way.Quebaz wrote:We're talking about this song right? You must mean the "high pitched" parts right? How doesn't that sound dangerous, It scares the heck out of me.
Well there's no need to worry about that, given all the standing around and yakkityyakking afterwards.penguintruth wrote:Goku even warns Gohan to get out of there because he's not sure he can hold onto his mind in that state.

Rocketman, is there anything you like about Dragon Ball?
There's a lot of talking in the manga during that scene as well.

I'm actually with Rocketman. Not a fan of the Japanese soundtrack for the Super Saiyan transformation in Z. Maybe if they hadn't already used that piece dozens of times any time something vaguely threatening happened. Or maybe if that piece just weren't boring on its own. I don't know. I love the Kikuchi score, but it suffers from major repetitiveness and is generally not at its best during Z's Saiyan and Freeza arcs.

There is, and it's one of the things that bugs me about the manga too. I never bought the whole "Super Saiyan is so dangerous wif all the rage!" hype, since nobody ever even slightly loses control. Not even SS2 Gohan, he just turns into an asshole.ABED wrote:Rocketman, is there anything you like about Dragon Ball?

The only Super Saiyan who ever felt like a true dangerous force of rage was False SS Goku in Movie 4.

How is the audience supposed to know that at that point? There was never a Super Saiyan in the story.Rocketman wrote:There is, and it's one of the things that bugs me about the manga too.
